I have once when i just got out of school and then later i felt retarded because my house was just across from my school!

We live up north.
My folks had an old farm that they converted into an antique store.
The barn became our garage.
During a nor'easter blizzard you can't see anything, the snow is thick and flies horizontally and obscures everything.
I tried to make it from the barn to the house, maybe 60 feet, and couldn't find it. I couldn't see a thing. I was freezing cold too.
Fortunately when I turned around there was still enough of an imprint from my boots visible in the snow that I could retrace my steps back to the barn.
I got in the truck and ran the heater, hoping I wouldn't run out of gas before the storm stopped.
