One common symptom of trauma survivors is an unwillingness or inability to connect on a deep level with other people as part of a psychological self-defense mechanism. From personal experience, I would suggest that this "closing off" might also extend to the flow of energy. A fear of vulnerability might cause barriers to form unconciously and prevent normal energy exchanges between oneself and others or oneself and the environment from taking place.
Obviously, counseling can help with this. However, I'm also curious whether some sort of energy work might help reestablish a degree of interpersonal trust based on the experience of "opening up" so to speak.
I hope I'm not being too vague. My experience with energy manipulation is admittedly paltry. If you need more clarification, feel free to ask for it.
