OK, since "The List" is in here, I thought this could fit too. If not I'll move it to the hangout thread. Anyway, I'm sure we've all seen this kind of list before. You're give the topic in the form of the first half of a sentence and you reply with the second half. So, if the topic was:
You know you're crazy when. . .
Your answer could be:
. . .the voices tell you the martians are coming!
This list is based on what you hate to see in a story. I'm expanding this to fanfictions and Internet stories as well as books. So tell me, what turns you off from a story? Read, and find out what not to do!

. . . the description says 'Cross over with Animaniacs."
. . . every pairing listed includes and OC. Icky Mary Sues. . .
. . . words are spelled wrong in the description.
. . . the description contains "He falls for her blah blah blah. . ."
. . . there are obvious grammar problems from the get go.
. . . when the characters are really out of character in what's meant to be a serious fic.

Hmm... tough one. I think I've ever just completely stopped reading a book completely twice in my entire life (though I must admit, there were a few school assignments that I wanted to, but had to finish for the grade mad ).
Anyway, here goes:
... it just gets too creepy or gross. With me, it's pretty dang near impossible, but it did happen once. Usually, it's when something happens to someone's or something's eyes, head, mouth, etc.
...IT'S SO D*MN BORING! NO SUSPENSE AFTER SIX F-IN CHAPTERS!? COME ON!
... It's just too mushy. A little romance is good for tension and drama and all, but when the book is supposed to be a violent action novel, it should be more than just two people making out. stare
... I just hate the characters. They're just to hickish (is that a word?), popular, rich, powerful, etc. to the point of just being fake and abnoxious. That, or they could be just totally offensive whores. burning_eyes If I wanted to read every excruciating detail about what those two characters did that night, I'd have picked up a dirty novel. Keep it where it belongs, please.
... THE DOG DIES! I CAN NOT TELL YOU HOW MANY STUPID "Newbery Award" WINNING BOOKS I HAD TO READ BEFORE 6th GRADE WHERE THE POOR DOG DIES! WHAT IS UP WITH THAT!? Stone Fox, Where the Red Fern Grows, Old Yeller. THE LIST IS F-IN ENDLESS! WHY NOT A CAT, OR A HORSE, OR EVEN A MONKEY? IT'S ONLY THE DOGS THAT DIE! scream

. . . The tenth chapter is still describing a specific previously solved conflict
. . . The character changes personalitis every chapter
. . . Someone says "I think..." after a paragraph of describing what they think, instaed of saying 'he/she told the others' (it bugs me)
