I've been working on designing a new non-collectible card game and I'm almost done. I've made some rough cards out of cut-up index cards and playtested it with fairly good results.

I plan to sell the game as 4 theme decks for each set. Each deck will feature a different character who will represent you as you do battle with up to three other players.

Players can purchase multiple decks and mix-and-match them to design their own custom decks but we don't plan to try and compete with the CCG market by selling boosters.

What I need now are ideas for characters. Pretty much anything goes. So far we have the first three sets planned out (except for a complete cast of characters, of course).

So far we have one character idea for each set:

  • A shotgun-wielding, undead slaying catgirl.
  • A wheelchair bound human mage.
  • A vampire who is the archrival to the aforementioned catgirl.

The story we're developing allows for pretty much any genre of character to be worked into the saga.

With the release of the third set, there will be melee and ranged combat (weapons currently range from primitive to modern but could go sci-fi as well), magic, healing, and vampirism but if the game is a success we'll be adding other mechanics as well.

Any character ideas anyone has would be appreciated.

We can't compensate anyone but will try to find some way to credit a character's originator even if it's just on the eventual website. However, if the game becomes a success the originators of any ideas we use will have bragging rights to flaunt. 8o)

LEGAL JUNK (needed since I'm asking for volunteer help with a for-profit game): By submitting a character or character concept in this thread you grant me, Frank Wilcox (aka kitsunegami), the right to use said character or concept in the for-profit card game described above without compensating you in any way.

Well, Kitsunegami.

I've been thinking. I'll share what I came up with, and you don't have to use my ideas, but it was fun just imagining anyway.

Anica--a young Latina woman. She's a vampire hunter. She is protected from vampires because of the amulet she wears that she inherited from her grandmother who raised her. Anica likes to swim in a local lagoon when she's not chasing vampires, and she's into health food, herbalism, wholistic living, yoga. She's a very centered person.

Dedric Crestwell--a well-to-do businessman. He hires Anica to fight vampires for him. His brother became a vampire after an attack when he was a teenager. Dedric and his brother stay in touch. Although Dedric despises his brother's vampirism, he uses that connection to learn about the most sinister, violent vampires and hires Anica to go after them to somehow avenge his brother's attacker.

(Dedric's brother could be a character, too. I just haven't put much though into him.)

Tiberion--a vampire who can morph into a shark. One day when Tiberion was in his shark form, he happened to scent a beautiful woman (Anica) swimming in the same area as he was. He tried to approach her, but was repelled for some reason (the amulet). He was so entranced by her that he came often to the lagoon, and soon learned her pattern of visiting there and tries to be in the area when she is. Despite the fact that he cannot come near her, he still desires to be with her.

Well, there you go.
