What is your view on the Harry Potter books and movies? Some Christians see it is harmless others as harmful so what is yours? Complete evil? Totally anti-Christian? Just something to read for fun? Bad influence on Christians? Etc. Discuss away.

a lot of christians want this ook baned because of magical content
but in the bible there is also magic. if you ban HP you must ban the bible
me personally have no oppinion on the book
i just dont like it *thinks it was poorly writen*

What I find funny is a lot of Christians that are against Harry Potter like Lord of the Rings. Did they totally skip over the fact that Gandalf does magic just like Harry? confused Personally I see no problem with it. It's a fictional STORY key word being story. It seems a lot of people want to do less parenting now a days and are fighting for things getting banned/changed instead of just telling kids what is the right way or that something is pretend/fake/fictional/make believe/etc.

It most certainly has sweatdrop When I was younger it was un heard of to miss long periods of school unless you were deathly ill now kids will go on vacation for a month or two eek They had to make this thing that if you missed more then I believe it's 2 or 3 months of school you lose your spot in the school.

Yeah, I think people are overreacting with all the book burnings. JK Rowling is, like most other fictional writers, trying to entertain people using her imagination as a tool. I mean, that's what people tried to encourage us as kindergarteners, and if not, well, writing is a form of art in which it supports the creativity of a society.
Ok, I'm making things waaaaaaaay to complicated here, and that's exactly what the book burners are doing, taking it too far.

look at the authors of lord of the rings he was a christian
the author of HP is a sadist
harry potter is evil
and there is no magic in the bible its just the power of God

 Have you even read Harry potter or know anything of JK Rowling? I swear I read somewhere that JK Rowling is a CHRISTIAN not to mention there are CHRISTIAN REFERENCES in Harry Potter books and movies. Yes there is magic in the bible we're not saying the miracles Jesus or other people performed were magic, that was the power of God. But there is magic magic in the bible.

Roll your eyes all you want at me but if you knew anything you'd know she's a Christian and that she admits to using Christian references in her books. If you have read the books and know the bible then you'd be able to recognize them. If you haven't read the books you have no right to judge them. Ever heard the saying don't judge a book by a cover? Well take that saying literally in this case and don't judge it by it's theme either.
Clearly you know nothing on the subject or you'd be able to debate this without just rolling your eyes at me.
