Well, I don't smoke, I don't do drugs, and I sure as hell don't get laid, so really the only thing I'd have to give up to be straight-edge is alcohol. But... it's alcohol. I mean, c'mon. Let's be reasonable here.

I'm about the same as Druhol. I don't smoke or do any drugs, don't have premiscuis sex, etc, etc. But I drink. Reall doing these things is a personal choice, and I have no problem with people who are straightedge, but I don't see why someone needs to label themselves that way.

Honestly, I don't care about it one way or the other. I mean, unless you're one of those kids who beat the ******** out of anyone for drinking/doing drugs/having sex.
That pisses me off.

That pisses me off. yeah, I do have a problem with that. Do what you want, think what you want. But when you start preaching, or get violent, then i have a problem.

affengeil yeah, I do have a problem with that. Do what you want, think what you want. But when you start preaching, or get violent, then i have a problem. The really funny thing is, when Ian McKaye (inadvertantly) started this whole mess, he was basically just saying that you shouldn't do anything that might hurt you in some way. It seems to me that likelyhood of getting hurt from getting into fights with smokers is pretty high.

He also didn't have problems with people doing things in small amounts. He was preaching against the excess which was destroying people in the punk scene. He's also spoken out against people fighting at shows, etc.

Militant sXe started in Boston wiht Al Barril,SSD, and the bean town crew. Ian McKaye went through alot of phases when he was in the Hxc scene when he was hanging out wiht Rollins and was in teen idols they would go to N.Y.C just to start fights. D.C. was an elite scene back then, you had to be real stuck up to get along with thise guys.

I don't believe in calling myself StraightEdge because I just see it as another way to exploit a human being, though I do follow the methods of Straight Edge and probably more. I have set morals for myself anf I live my life by them.

Eh, I'm strongly opposed to SxE. I hate the SxE kids in my town. They're just stuck-up assholes who need to rot in hell (or secretly O.D. off of heroin). ******** 'em. I have a few SxE friends, but they're not as cool as my friends who "just don't do drugs". SxE - great trend.
On the note of missing out: it doesn't really matter. You can have fun on drugs or off drugs. You can have a s**t time on drugs, or off. It's a personal choice. I'm the experimental type - I don't do as much as I used to because frankly, I've seen all that I needed to see on what I have done. There's a few more (non-needle, I hate needles) drugs that I wouldn't mind doing just for curiosity reasons, but that's about it. I'd rather slit my throat then brand myself SxE.
