The end of the school year is...inching closer. I'm not in my last year yet, but somehow the whole "prom" thing got into my head, and now I'm wondering what I would be wearing for prom =S

I mean, it's something special, and I figured I should really dress my own gender, and wear a neat dress or something...but you know...= 3=; it is something special afterall..i don't really want myself feeling self-conscious the entire prom night..so..xDD but like, i don't want to wear those loose dress pants either..or have a fat tie..or big suit..neither am i a fan of dress shoes ._.;

Hence, i created this topic. o_O i'm curious what other "shoujo-ai" fans would wear/wore to their prom night. post pictures if you feel comfortable ^^; if not, just the description? ;o

[i'm actually thinking about wearing something similar to shane from the l-word's >_>; but i'm not sure if they would let me in if i have a pair of jeans and converse on..lol ^^;]

I wore a suit because I felt more comfortable and less self conscious in one when compared to a dress!

By "shoujo-ai fans" I'm thinking you mean lesbians or gay chicks, hahahaha. XD But you're right, this is a really important topic to a lot of people, especially those of us who are queer and/or have unusual gender expressions and identities. I might retag this and move it into the Lounge for that reason, actually.

Wing wore a black suit and pants, a black (or very dark, anyway) formal shirt, and a blue tie and handkerchief thing in the pocket. And a black hat. I would assume she was wearing dress shoes (hard to see) but even if she wasn't, I'd recommend that you do it...it is prom, and they tend to be a little strict about the formality and dressing up, and it's just nice. I think Wing's too shy to post the picture (a pity), but I can tell you she looked pretty...er, my bilingualism is bringing up the word "帥" rather than any English descriptor. But yeah she looked really good. :]

I went the more traditional way (for my own gratification and my mother's...and also a little because my girlfriend was also wearing a dress and i wanted to break up that bullshit about one of us having to be butch). I wore a black dress, heels (not very high, I hate heels), a necklace, bracelets, earrings (clip-on, screw piercing my ears), did hair and makeup professionally, all that good stuff. On the cheerful side, I was told several times that it looked great.

hmmm...i was thinking that recently too. when i go with just my friends, i wear a dress. if i go with a guy, i also wear a dress and we have to match of course. and if i go with a girl, it depends on who it is XP we can just both wear dresses or ill wear the pants/ dress shirt/ tie combo thing. whatever the mood is >.<

i wore a dress shirt for homecoming this year since i went with a girl i was talking to and wanted to be semi casual and its more comfy to dance in than stupid heels. but i asked one of my guy friends to prom so i guess i have to get a dress -.-;;

out of all my dancing experiences, i can conclude that guys have it easy. less money, more comfy >.> i mean, i wore my everyday shoes that time XP dancing in heels and a strapless dress? not a good idea =.=

XD Yeahh, guys have it easy. Er, if it's a strapless dress, you can always add straps to it so it doesn't produce a particularly unforgettable prom experience. They usually look natural enough so it's no big deal.

"Handsome" is a rough approximation I guess, but it doesn't carry quite the same connotations...

Haha well, dress shoes...it's the equivalent of girls going in heels and guys wearing suits and all that good stuff.

I don't think it's much of a question of how you'll look, since you're really damn cute anyway so you'll be great regardless. How comfortable you feel can be more of an issue, though, especially since traditional female wear for prom is a little more revealing.

I...wore a tux. XD To my middle school prom, I wore A TUX! I felt pretty awesome, but then people kept asking if I were a chick or a dude. = Which made me leave early. XP

I'm just gonna wear a suit to my HS prom, nothing big like a tux.

I've already graduated, but I went to prom three years in a row while I was in high school.

Sophomore Year: Pic.
Not the best picture if you want to actually look at the dress... but... sweatdrop It was a blue dress with plenty of sequins, with a matching blue sash thingy. x3 I liked the fact that it wasn't poofy, but...

Junior Year: (Don't have a pic. x.o)
...I decided to try poofy next. It was a peach-colored dress with some sequins. It was strapless, though... I hated that 'cause my boobs kept trying to fall out. XD But I had a rainbow sash to go with it, and my hair was up all Rikku-styled. (Final Fantasy X-2 Rikku, that is.)

Senior Year: Pic.
(Ignore the fat... XD I've lost weight since then.) I decided to be different and wear this. I went to Hawaii the summer before and got this outfit at a flea market. The prom was a tropical theme so I thought it'd be perfect. =) I had a pink fabric flower in my hair, too, but you can't see it. Wore sandals with it.

heart I wish I would've worn a tux to prom...
If I get a girlfriend and she invites me to her prom, I'm totally wearing one. XD

I wore what was expected of me and felt poofy all night long. I didn't have that much fun either, my boyfriend (Prom date) dumped me at the prom. When I got home that night (early by the way) I took it all off and threw it in the trash. I never to see that dress again. That was 20 years ago and I still get upset about it, ugh!

Lmao, hey, me too! What a shock. XD

In case you wanted them...mhm. This one seems more accurate.

Not poofy, but it was swishy at the bottom, which was nice. =D

Hazumu- D: I'm sorry about the boyfriend...what a jackass, seriously. Did he really have to do that at prom? That kind of BS calls for an unanesthetized removal of testicles. What a way to ruin it for someone. :[
