On the basis of eliminating some of the 'random' factors in the game to hopefully get a more accurate ranking system the rules are limited to being:

Match Rules:

-No items
-Stages allowed (Doesn't need to be pre-determined which one. One person one vote during the matches)
Battlefield
Final Destination
Yoshi's Island
Lylat Cruise
Smashville
*These are the nuetral stages for tournaments that follow standard rules.*
-Friendly Fire: On (Standard rule that prevents certain infinite combos.)
-Stock matches with no sudden death (Prevents stall tactics to win by defualt)

Other than that you can set it to anything the participants agree upon.

Other Restrictions:

To participate in a team ranked match you must have a your regular partner within the team.(Having a regular partner generally means better teamwork so if there are any team competitions between the factions it'll help our factions to have regular partners, thus the reason for needing a regular partner to participate in the team ranked matches.)

The members participating must set the series of matches BEFORE they start it doesn't matter what number is agreed upon, but if you go above the agreed upon number the matches past the agreed upon number will not be counted.

Accounts from all participants are needed. (Don't try and claim that you won if you lost the match will be waved unless there is proof, but if it repeatedly happens while you are in the match it will be assumed that you are lying and your account will no longer matter. Which means whatever the other claims will be counted as true. So don't start trying to lie about the results it's not worth it especially becuase the rankings don't really mean anything.)

The ranking will be done through the Transtive property and not a point system. This means that if one person of higher rank than you moves down on the list everybody below them would move down aswell.

Only members of no more than 2 ranks above you may be called out to participate in a ranked match. (This is to attempt to eliminate the fact that somebody may have had an off day and somebody that in reality is generally worse doesn't skip to the top of the list with little to no effort put into it.)

If you are called out, you must accept. Both parties must agree on a scheduled time, just becuase somebody is online doesn't mean they are free to battle and they are not going to be expected to battle you just becuase you want them to. (This is to eliminate that the top person refuses to play anybody just to maintain his position.)

If you are inactive for extended periods of time you will not count as a member in the ranking. You will appear at your current rank, but members of lower rank are allowed to skip over you and challenge the 2 players above as if you weren't there. Inactivity will be based on ONE week after you are called out. If you are the top position you will be moved to the challenger's position. (If the challenger is 3rd the current 2nd place member becomes the new first and the challenger becomes second. If the challenger is 2nd he/she becomes the new first.)

Results are final

Suggestions:
Use your mains. (The results won't be waved due to you not using your best characters for the match.)

Play a series. (It helps to eliminate the possible 'off' game if you have more than one chance to play them.)

-Cooldown period
One week between matches with the same cast, a change in rank doesn't matter if the same 2 people would be playing.

-Match minimum
It is now required that a minum series of best 2 of 3 is used.
*It is still recommended that a larger series is used
-Match maximum
Since the challenger has the technical option to set the series consent from the opponent is required to play anything over best of 5
*So the challenger can pick either best 2 of 3 or 3 of 5 without needing the approval of the opponent, but they still must be informed of what the rules are before the matches start ofcourse.
