The sunny day would have been rather hot, if not for the occasional, welcoming breeze that blew past. The fresh air was a treat for Aria, who had been cramped up in her room the whole morning. She had tired of sitting in front of her laptop all morning and - after picking up a pen, and the manuscript to her story - left the house to find somewhere more pleasant to spend the rest of her day.

She had eventually found her way to a quaint little park. Children ran about with colorful kites, their delighted laughter filling the air. For a moment, Aria just stood and watched, her dark blue eyes following the movement of the kite as it soared, a shock of color against the blue sky. ‘It’s been a while since I’ve had the time to do things like that,’ She thought, almost wistfully. Writing took up most of her time now.

She started towards a nearby bench, glancing down to flip open her manuscript at the same time. This was a rather bad move on her part, however, and she only realized it when she collided into something – or someone. Yelping in surprise, her pen and manuscript slipped from her hands, falling to the ground as she backed away quickly. She was red faced, and looking rather mortified at herself.

“I-I’m so sorry! I...I wasn’t watching where I was going!”

Evan, lacking necessary pigment to prevent horrendous sunburn, was not often a visitor of the park before the sun started to set, but today he had needed a walk. The weird man who'd hired him to basically look nice and be charming for complete strangers was on the edges of this thoughts constantly, not out of some sort of lust (Evan winced at the idea when it flitted across his brain) but a faint feeling of dread. In hopes of clearing his head, he had taken a laughable little green parasol to fend off the ultraviolet rays and gone out to the park, where the fresh air could be of some good.

He'd been watching somebody's kite fight the wind to keep from being swept into the trees when another pedestrian bumped into him. Evan yelped and nearly toppled over, and he dropped the parasol. Embarrassed, he almost folded the parasol because he looked so silly with it before remembering he'd be red in the face by this time tomorrow if he did something so foolish. He kept the thing resting on his shoulder, and stooped to pick up the pages the lady had let go of, since it would be a courteous thing to do.

"It's fine, really! No harm done," he said, trying to be soothing and also trying to appear like he wasn't so sheepish. For a moment, he paused and peered down at the papers, too nosy to just hand them back immediately, and skimmed a few pages before looking up at Aria with wide, red-pink eyes.

"You're a writer?" Evan chirped, his voice respectfully quiet. He shifted his shoulders, feeling a cramp coming on from holding the parasol in the crook connecting his neck and left shoulder, and smiled nervously.

[[ Since I didn't mention this before, and since Aria doesn't have a picture yet, basics of her appearance: Dark blue eyes, black hair that falls to mid-back, that's usually tied up with a dark blue ribbon. ]]

Still looking apologetic, Aria gave a little shake of her head. "I...I really am sorry though," She murmured, her voice just audible, "I-I should have been more careful of my surroundings." She gave a little bow of her head, before looking up.

She finally took a good look at who she had bumped into, startled as her dark blue eyes met the stranger's rather unique ones, and took in his white hair. Seeing the parasol as well, it didn't take Aria very long to realize that this young man may have been an albino. However, Aria belatedly realized that she - quite rudely - had been staring at him. The young woman opened her mouth hastily, but ended up blurting out, "Your...eyes are a rather pretty shade." Being as timid as she was, Aria was easily flustered, and this led her to, very often, blurt out the first thing that came to mind.

Having realized her mistake the moment after, she reddened. She bent down to pick up the pen she had dropped just to avoid eye contact. "A-ah, sorry."

She had forgotten all about her manuscript - or rather, she hadn't even realized she had dropped it - until Evan spoke up. Looking up quickly, the red hue remained on her cheeks as she nodded hesitantly. For a moment, it looked as if she was going to stay silent, but she spoke up after a moment. "My dream is to become an author," She admitted, softly, "Though, as you can see, I have a long way to go." She paused, an equally nervous smile spreading over her face and a small light of curiousity in her eyes. "Do you...perhaps write as well?"

"I-it's fine! Really! I was just as, um, not... paying attention..." Evan said nervously, faltering a little. He was not very good at talking to strangers, female strangers in particular. The staring, he was accustomed to, since his coloring had a tendency to draw gawkers, but the compliment made him flush pink.

"Th-th-thank you..." he muttered, wondering where on earth the stutter had come from. Under his breath, he recited the trick to help: "He thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts." It did help. Evan sighed and tried his best to look Aria in the eye.

He folded the manuscript shut quickly, and held it out for her to take, fidgeting awkwardly. "I... I write a little... Just poetry. Nothing good... All rubbish, in fact," said Evan, averting his gaze shyly.

"A-ah, I guess perhaps we both should have been paying more attention," She commented, emitting a soft, timid laugh. "But, uh, it's good to know you're not hurt." If Aria had ending up harming someone, she wouldn't know what to do. Aside from apologize and panic, that is.

Shifting awkwardly, she coughed quietly in her hand. "You...you're welcome." Sensing the rather uncomfortable atmosphere, the girl held out her hand shyly, trying not to look like the scared rabbit she usually was. "I'm Aria." She introduced herself, offering a small smile. "Uh...and you are...?"

Reaching out both hands, she took the manuscript back, murmuring a 'thank you' as she clutched it to her chest, embarrassed. Her story was still far from perfect, and it'd likely take her a while until she was completely satisfied with it. She tilted her head as he spoke, feeling herself lighten a little. It was always nice to meet another person who writes. "Poetry...takes a lot of skill to write. I never was very good at it, to be honest, but I've always enjoyed reading it."

Evan switched his parasol to his other hand, fiddling with the buttons on his heavy coat. It was a miracle he didn't seem to be roasting in it, being in direct sunlight even with the flimsy protection of the parasol. "I... I'm... I'm Evan Jones. Evan Aloysius Jones," he said, adding his middle name mostly because his first and last monikers seemed so boring and everyday. "Aria's a lovely name," he said, venturing a compliment.

The topic of poetry was better than just small talk, which Evan was not generally skilled with. "I know how you feel. Really, I do... And at least you've given writing prose a shot, I feel constricted with the normal conventions of sentence structure. Good poetry is hard to find. It seems like everyone who was any good lived two hundred years ago or more," he said, finally warming up a little. He thought fondly of John Donne and Oscar Wilde and Lord Byron and Shakespeare, all of them he considered wonderful poets, though they were quite dead, the lot of them.

Still clutching her manuscript to her chest, Aria half-bowed to him. "It...it's a pleasure to meet you, Evan," She smiled at him, but the compliment caught her unguarded. A flush rose quickly in her cheeks. Her gaze flickered away, and then back. "O-oh...t-thank you..." She stuttered, before smiling a little sheepishly. "I...I suppose that I have my parents to thank for that though..."

She was never able to really make friends - mainly because it was so rarely that she met anyone who she had in common with. There was also the fact not many people could tolerate her shyness but, to her surprise, Aria felt a natural smile tug at her lips. "I first started writing prose because I thought that I couldn't do poetry any justice. I'm a complete failure at writing poetry, but I do adore reading it." She thought of her library - which was really just a small room with bookcases - at home, filled with books with thick, leather covers. How long did she spend in there everyday, she wondered?

"I'll have to agree with you when you say good poetry is hard to find. The greatest works are by those who lived long ago. Poetry nowadays..." She trailed off thoughtfully, a small frown spreading over her face. "I don't know. Some of them seems to lack something. Feeling, maybe."
