So i was parusing the site feedback forum today after the whole Bag of Win debocal and i can say i don't think gaians are ever happy with what the admins and developers put out for them. it happened with the easter event and it happened with the other random items in the cash shop and its just rediculous. Are people really as ungrateful as they seem?
i was reading one post from a girl who was so mad that she went out and spend 50 bucks on cash cards just to get home and the mods had taken down the item because hundreds of people bitched that it was ruining the economy in the first place. now you have people saying hey i wanted that and i liked that and the people that were complaining are not the only people on here. so it really is a loose loose situation for gaia. they just can't do anything right in the eyes of the users. its really sad don't you think... as for the girl and her 50 dollar rant all i can say is... if you are stupid enough to blow you gas money on a cash card that really doesn't get you anything but some pretty pixles in the end of it all then there really is a problem in your head. seriously you should know that you are going to be wasting your money because aside from on gaia that those cash cards are not going to do you any good and if you leave gaia you have nothing to show for it anyways. now don't get me wrong i have wasted my money on gaia too and it does add up after a while but i didn't jump at the change to get the bag of win thinking oh my god i need 50 dollars worth. no i blew 10 dollars on the site and that was for the first time in a long time. still that could have gotten me like 8 tim horton coffees but i wanted to see what the items were like and i don't regret it.
So is it all greed? is that the problem with people. is it that important that all you can do is b***h when the admins put out something you don't like? i can say i have never complained about anything they have done. when my account was hacked they did all in their power to get my stuff back and that made me a very devoted gaian. so sometimes i don't like the items or sometimes i don't like the site set up but in the long run its just a web site to communicate with other people. what really does millions and millions of gold do for people aside for show that you have been on gaia for a while. i mean for the most part, after a few years, you can't tell how much people have or how often they are on or whatever unless they say that in their profiles. is it about status? do people feel that by having all this stuff they will be better then the others on the site? like the creators and moderators of gaia owe them something... it just boggles my mind.
I can honestly say that i love gaia. i am on here almost every day and have been for almost 5 years. i have a lot of stuff because i save my gold for things that i want and when i get to that place i buy it. sure i never leave my avi for more then a week in the same outfit but thats because i get bored of looking at it. my big priorities on gaia are my guilds. i really don't spend any time out in the forums i feel that i have people to talk to in here. i brows the forums sometimes if i am looking for answers to questions but not very often. and the reason for this is because there is always something negative being said in the forums about Gaia and how the team has screwed up again. people threaten to leave but for the most part i don't think they do and if people do leave it is because they have gotten tired of gaia in general and have better things to do.
does anyone feel the same way?
p.s sorry about the rant. i just needed to get that out in the open. i guess i could have posted it as a journal but what would be the purpose in having a chatter box if i couldn't just say what i was feeling?

Maaan, the GCD is going crazy over the Bag Of Win's! (I'm a GCD regular, lol).
I personally think Gaia is doing all right. surprised I think that you have to do what you have to do. If BOW's are a way to make some quick money (and believe me, I've spent over $30 on Gaia this month, and half of it was for BOW's, plus there are lots who have spent more) for Gaia then more power to them. I think I read somewhere that it costs $4mil+ for Gaia to keep running, and I'd much rather see things like the Cash Shop and some crazy sponsors than not have Gaia, or have it be a Pay to Play, ya know.
The BOW's are like a lottery and for someone to be angry that they didn't get anything good, that's their problem. =S I do think that if they were going to do something like this, they needed to keep it in the Cash Shop for a little while longer, or given people a heads up, "This will only be in there for 24 hours" or whatever, but still... it's all a lottery.

i totally agree with you. i mean i liked the BOW but so many people complained that it was crashing the economy and then when they took it out of the shop they complained that it wasn't out long enough. its like the admins can't please anyone. it just totally sucks to see so many people bitching and being ungrateful when, like you said, there could be no gaia at all and then where would we be.

People just need to quit their complaining. Sure, you might be getting the easy way out with the BOW's, but I earn my money in real life just like I earn gold on Gaia, on my own. So if I decided to buy come BOW's to speed up things here, then more power to me. What's the difference to buying $15 of BOW's when you can buy $30 of DI's and make the same profit? -_- Ugh.

I'm glad to hear that you agree! People just need to quit their complaining. Gaia has to make money somehow and doing things like that is their way of making money. You don't have to buy from the MTV shop or watch the trailer of something, or participate in towns. It's your choice. But get over it, because they have to make money somehow.
I hate it when people are like "You buy DI/MC's and Gaia Cash, you're not earning your gold the good way, you're taking the easy way out." But I still vote, comment, post, and write in my journal, so I am earning the most amount of Gold I can minus vending (which I do on occasion). But I change dirty diapers to make my hard earned money, so I AM earning it. I might not spend hours on Gaia, but I still earn ways to make money and therefore earn ways to take the "easy way out" and make "easy" gold.

i do the same thing... although i don't change diapers for my money... i deal with drunks and people who are trying to steal money. i work at a bank. and i do work hard. so i totally see buying the items as my right because i made that money. i do vend often enough but i have stopped resently. i just do it if i really want something. then i save and save till i have a big stash of gold to buy new items that come out.

i totally agree with you. but i think that they get mad because they did spend money on the site and then they don't want to leave because they have invested money in the site and it kinda acts like something to tie you down to the site. you know what i mean?

I've been a Gaian since 2005 and while I don't agree with all Gaia does, I think they're doing all right. I don't like all the sponsors, but I don't complain about them. I just don't do them.
I don't think the Bag of Win's were too bad. There was a lot worse they could do. At least they weren't giving Coco's and Kiki's and Angelic Halo's in there. It could be a lot worse.
I can understand not wanting to leave once you put money into the site, but if you put money into something like Gaia, then you have to realize that that is your risk. Gaia is like entering the lottery, you can't win unless you play.

I love Gaia tons and it's a big part of my life. I invest a lot of time on here.
Since the introduction of the Cash Shop I've seen Gaia in a different light. I totally understand they have bills to pay, I understand they are a business first and foremost...I hate trying to talk about my criticisms of Gaia in the GCD and getting "OMG U DUMMY THEY ARE 11 MILLION IN DEBT THEY NEED TO MAKE MONEY!!!!!!" rolleyes I understand all of that...but there is something about the Cash Shop takes makes me sour.
I had no problem purchasing the Monthly Collectibles but having these amazing items in the CS is overwhelming. I was overwhelmed when the first generation of Fausto's Bottle came out but still purchased it with a ton of guilt. Then the Hermes Moon came out for 10 bucks! Oh my.
When Easter came around I was very impressed with the hoodies and plushies in the shop. Sadly, I could afford them with both IRL money or Gaia gold...but I tried not to dwell on it too much because the event was coming soon, right? Oh yeah, what event? I was annoyed that they ran out of time to put together an event of sorts yet still had the time to update the precious cash shop.
Now, for the Bag Of Win...I was amazed that Gaia put something like that out! Pure gold in large amounts, rare items and costly commons...it seemed all of Gaia exploded with that release. I honestly believe Gaia took the item out of the shop early because of all the insane feedback. It was just nuts. I was only able to get a few bags because I logged on right before the deadline and had Paypal issues. *grumps* I envy the users who got amazing items and gold but at the same time I bet they spent 50 bucks or more to get that one special coin.
Hmm. This post is getting long!
I love this site and am rolling with the continual changes, both good and bad. I'm hoping to see a decrease in cash shop updates while seeing an increase in plot updates and community events. Because that's what Gaia is to me: the community and story that surrounds Gaia.
