I bought one for $50 dollars today. The next town over had a city-wide yard sale, and I was looking through them. There was a girl who had bought new violin for herself about six months ago and decided it wasn't for her, she was moving on to something else. She was selling it for $75. I left for about thirty minutes and thought about it although I was pretty sure I was going to buy it anyway. I came back, and she told me she would take $50 for it, so I bought it. It's a GORGEOUS violin and she kept it in amazing condition!
I've never played myself, but my older sister did and my cousin plays and both are more than willing to show me a few beginner things. I'm so excited about this though since I have always wanted to play. icon_smile.gif
I just felt like I couldn't pass it up. Have you felt like that and bought anything recently?

congratz on the VIOLIN!!!!! rock on! my mom bought one years ago and plans to learn when she retires! i am such an impulse buyer like that although i have calmed down since i started university. my impules were mainly driven by musical instruments as i worked in a music store for three and a half years and in that time i brought home two guitars, two saxophones, a clarinet, a piano and a keyboard. i play the clarinet often enough, or did through university, but not much anymore i want to though. the other. i kept saying i would learn but it hasn't happened yet.

haha, usually I am not impulsive but when I seen that violin, I was like "MINE." I actually have been an impulsive buyer as of late, I think it's because I know I have money in the bank. -__- I need to be careful, just in case I don't have the job.

awe thanks B. i am quite musical i guess. i mean i am not great but i do play a lot and thats why i want to be a music teacher.

Well, I've really not learned to play anything on my violin, I just do some bowing. I want to learn though.
I hope you do become a music teacher someday. I would love to be a music teacher or a singer, but ever since I got sick, I can't sing. crying I miss it.

i am on my way. today was my first day of classes. i had my educational pyschology class and teaching in the catholic schools class. tomorrow i have a drama class, classroom managment and something else... i just don't remember. i do this for 8 weeks and then i am in placement for 5 weeks. after that it is christmas and then i am back in for 8 weeks of class time and then 5 more weeks of placement. during placement i will be a student music teacher... if that really means anything heehee. but yeah.
you should try to sing. don't force it but start off slowly. you'll have to rebuild your instrument if it was damaged because of your illness.

I've tried. I'm not great at singing anymore. I can't get my voice high at all and don't have the time or money to go back to school. I miss it, but it's not the biggest thing on my list anymore.
