I love unreal people more than I love real people.

I've occasionally had dreams where I meet people, or I know people, that I know I love in the dream.
For example, recently I had a dream where I was married to a woman. I knew I loved her, and in the dream I swore I'd do anything and everything it took to get our relationship to be healthy again (for some reason, we were about to be divorced, but I didn't know why). Somehow I made her happy enough in the dream that we didn't end up getting divorced, though.

I felt more love for this imaginary woman than I've ever felt for anyone I know. We had a son, as well, who I also felt attachment to. I've never liked kids, so this I found weird; I'd also do anything and everything to ensure that he was happy and living a good life.

I've felt this attachment in other dreams, as well, but never in real life. At the age I'm at, children seem like just a hindrance, and marriage seems like a burden. In the dream, sex didn't even matter. All that mattered was that I had a family and needed to take care of it. Why though, would I feel this way in a dream, but not in real life?

Discuss:
-The above
-CAN you have a stronger bond with nonexistent people than people who exist?
-Is this unhealthy?

ive had dreams where i wake up and i miss the people i meet in my dreams. i recall times where i would hope to have a dream where i would meet these people again
i miss them a lot actually
but i dont know if i love them, only because now i cant remember what they were like
im sure if a dream person i had was too stand the test of time i could "love them" much like i love my favorite books or songs or movies
something you long for but cant hold that arent tangible

btw, good thread topic :]

I'm going to take the freudian spin on this and, say it's an expression of your inner desires. I think you want someone to rely on and someone to rely on you. Since dreams are not much more than expression of or subconcious {at least in my opinion}.

I'd say yes a stronger bond can be created, but that bond isn't an authentic experience. I say this because wether or not you're actually noticing it, you're in control of the experience.

It's perfectly healthy to have dreams like that. What may not be healthy is the cause for a dream like that.

I've experienced that before I had a dream one time I was at some transfer school for god knows why and I met this girl and the feelings I had for that girl in my dream were stronger than how I feel for anyone in real life sad kinda wish I had that "life' rather than my own.

I'm like that in my dreams too.
Since dreams are basically your subconcious, your wants and or recent thoughts pick up in your dreams.

I could see that, seeing as how in your dreams anything can happen. I think you could love unreal people more because they can be literally the perfect person for you, because you made them up.

but how can you accurately measure an 8 hour connection?
i think its impossible
sure you could fawn over them, admire them, and be attracted
but i think love is just a tad too strong a word
personally

Eh, that's probably right. I might not show it in real life, but I'm as human and as needy for love, attention and reliability as everyone else.
If dreams like that occur very often, I think that would be unhealthy, since it would show it's always subconsciously on the mind. That dream is the first of its kind that I've had in a while.

I don't blame ya.
I'd much rather live in a world I controlled than in one where there are so many variables and defects.

So it's like you create a world using what both things you know to be the world and things you want to be the world.
Example, you know that there is love in the world. You know that there's gravity in the world, you know that human beings have faces in the world. You create your dream world, and add in the extra bits and pieces, wants and desires that have been on your mind subconsciously. Maybe the body does this to make you examine them more, to possibly take them off the subconscious to make you rest better.

You might think it's love in the dream.
But, then again, you think they're real in the dream.
If there was any love felt at all, it would not be the same love as we think of in this world.
It takes a loooooong time to feel true love for someone. However, that's in an imperfect world, with laws that you cannot edit. In the dream world, you make the laws. Physics don't matter. Love in that world could start the second you see someone.
In the parallel dream world, they did exist. You did feel love.
However, in this world, we wouldn't call it that.

...

Duuuude, things just seem to come together at 2AM. Lol

The ingredients of a dream are random, sometimes, things from your childhood pop up (like how I always have dreams that occur where I used to live, or at the docks).
People and props in a dream are different too.
Sometimes my dreams have special effects. neutral
