Cobalt flew into the night, the moon cool on his back, the familiar pull of bloodlust fresh in his mouth. He frowned. It was because of that unfortunate happening that he was out here alone. Although he would be fine...unless some poor soul came wandering into his presence completely covered in blood. Highly unlikely on a night as fine as this. Cobalt pointedly ignored his Kalona half during these twilight hours, and he believed he was getting rather good at it. Not that he would ever let his guard down, no, that would be foolhardy. However, he did feel a good deal of confidence, as he grew in his ability to control the demon lurking within him.
He was safe now, safe to be around others, even at night. His eyes filled with tears as he realized that soon he would be able to return to his herd...back to their loving embraces and soft approval. He had left shortly after a fight with a stallion brought out the bloodlust for the first time, knowing that they were in danger so long as he could not control himself. He had trained for weeks, pointedly seeking out injured and bleeding animals simply to try to resist the lust as long as he could. And he had finally succeeded. It was a triumphant moment indeed.

There was another out and about that night. A mare lazily flying through the star studded. It could actually be called hopping about, for she would fly a short distance, land, walk and then take to the sky again.
Eternity made a slow descent, muttering to herself. She loved to fly, but her mane got into her eyes, and the saddle? Dead weight along her back. If she could remove it, she would. but it seemed to need fingers to do so.
Wings pushed back to give her an easier landing on her back hooves. Oh well, at least the night was cool, and beautiful. And not so lonely... Ears pricked forward as she heard the faint sounds of wings on the wind. Who was this?

Thoughts of his makeshift family floated through his mind. What had become of them? He was filled with dread that something had happened to them in his absence. After all, he was their defender, the only male there to protect them...No, he would not think such morbid thoughts
Cobalt flew lower, gradually descending into a smooth landing. It was time to stop for a while...at least until his emotions settled enough to allow him to fly again. He was so absorbed in his own thoughts that he failed to see that he had landed no less than twenty feet away from another Soquili. Looking up, his shadowy blue eyes suddenly spotted a vibrant blue mare, bearing elegant markings along with a pair of splendid white-tipped wings.
Startled, forcing himself not to flinch in surprise, Cobalt approached the mare cautiously, as he wasn't sure whether or not his sudden appearance had frightened her. "Hello. I'm sorry I burst in on you so suddenly, I didn't see you. You have my sincerest apologies." His rumbling voice, ever so soft, held a gentle inflection of kindness, and he hid his fear that she would be one that rushed out of his presence simply for fear of his Kalona heritage.

Eternity had shied away a little bit from the sudden landing. She hadn't been expecting that. When the mare noticed it was another of her kind she whuffed happily. Friendly faces were always welcome around her.
"Hello!" She came back within range. "I am Eternity." Pink eyes flicked over him. Handsome. Very handsome. And his wings? They just made her light up. She loved those kinds of wings. The feathered ones would never be given up but she loved the Kalona styled wings on males.
