The Dangers of Fantasy
A vampire and a werewolf walked into the bar, well- burst into the bar is more accurate. The two were literally and figuratively at each others throats. This kind of behavior is usually very bad for business, except for recently. What with this new Twalich or whatever series coming out and becoming a movie the usual rowdy vampire and werewolf crowd has brought in more business than I'd seen in all my years before these last few years.
"Guys, guys- the bars not even open yet. What are you doing?" I set down the glasses I was polishing and half heartedly yell. They must have, as usual forgot about daylight savings.
As soon as they stop 'fighting' I see who they are, it's Rob and Carl, or William and Vincent as they like to tell their victims. "Sorry Dan." Rob says getting off of Carl.
"Yeah sorry, Danny boy. Hope we didn't break the door again." Carl laughs getting off of the floor. The two of them look over to the once new looking door, and it collapses.
I heave a sigh and they give me a sheepish smile. "Whatever, Hans still owes me a few favors, I'll just give him a call before closing."
"It's very convenient that you happen to have the towns best and only door maker indebted to you, isn't it?" Carl says taking a stool to my left and changes back into a human appearance.
"What did you do to get that happen anyway, huh, Danny?" Rob chides as he picks up the door and moves it outside.
Picking up the glasses again I smirk and answer, "Nothing to different from the service I'm givin' your kind."
Neither respond, verbally anyway. What they do is star at me, as if trying to get into my head and either find a better answer or make me give them a better answer. Rob starts to ask a question, but stops and looks to the door. "Theres a car coming."
"Well then, you two had better take your places." I glance at the clock then look out though the now very open doorway.
Time passes and humans start to show up, followed by more vampires and werewolves. The creatures of the night I know, each of them by name in fact. They are my regulars and the reason my establishment thrives. The humans however, even to me they are nothing but capitol... just a means for me to make money. It's no wonder I've been in business for so long.
Half heartedly chatting with the human that sit in front of me I monitor the rest of the bar. It is necessary that I keep an eye out for those who do not know the rules, the last thing I need is a vampire or a werewolf that thinks they are above the rules that are on my property, law.
So far, so good. Nothing out of the ordinary. Just the usual bad pick up lines and passes that would in any other facility been called sexual harassment. The worst, or perhaps best part of it was that it wasn't just my regulars doing this. Thanks to recent pop fads that I don't really know anything about, the humans are coming on to their predators.
"I've waited longer than you could ever know... for someone... for you." I hear from the silken voice of a vampire, I'm half sure it's Rob. From here, even in the dim light I can see that he's coated in cheap glitter. I'll have to ask about that later. What the hell is sexy about sparkles anyway?
"I'm a beast, you could never understand.... I mean, we've just met, but I already know. I already know I never want to hurt you." Purrs the deep and soothing voice of a werewolf. It might be Carl, but more likely it's his cousin.
From the humans I hear the typical lines. "I know, i know... but I'm not scared!", "Your so beautiful, you must have a beautiful soul even if you are a monster!", "I know you'd never hurt me, I can see it in your eyes you care."
They all sound so assured. Popular fiction is a dangerous thing. Business is going to be good tonight. I'm very, very sure.
