Cobalt wandered alone through the forest as usual, observing the ever rustling leaves with lazy, unappreciative glances. His training had been progressing very well, but the forced solitude it granted was starting to wear thin his patience. He wanted to be among others again, to be able to talk and swap stories, but for their safety, he chose to remain alone. Of course, he had managed to tame his Kalona side even more, but...he still questioned whether or not it was enough. And it was best to be over prepared...than to be a killer. Even if it made him miserable.

(( As I said in your plot thread, I'll be rp'ing her as a filly this time =)) Marut hummed a tune, kicking a pebble along until she lost it in the long grass. She was meandering along the outskirts of the forest, the gloom under the trees wasn't inviting enough yet for her to investigate. When she lost her toy though, she started to peer within, her eyes narrowing as she squinted into the shadowy depths.
'Hey..' she said to herself, catching sight of someone moving along and between the trees. If she strained with her ears, she could just about hear the sound of the leaves being crunched. The little filly chewed on her lower lip. Should she be noisy? She decided yes that she would, and she slipped around a tree, heading in the general direction she thought the other was travelling in.
After a time she saw a silhouette ahead; the wings looked oddly familiar, and she brightened thinking that maybe it was Belial and he was playing a game. She hurried after, and then scrambled to a noisy halt when she realised it was most definately not her elder brother! In a slight panic at possibly having run into a dangerous Kalona, or half-Kalona she tripped on her gangly llimbs and fell in a heap.

Cobalt, lost in his own thoughts, hadn't heard the filly approach. His first indication that there was someone nearby was when she skidded to a halt, falling over her own feet in attempts not to run into him. A frown crossed his face, not because she almost bumped into him, but because of the fear he saw in her eyes. Would he always scare young foals?
"Don't be afraid of me, young one...tell me, who were you looking for?" Cobalt smiled, as warmly as he could without displaying the fangs he kept as hidden as he could. Surely she must be looking for someone else. She wouldn't have approached him otherwise.

Marut was in fact not afraid now; she'd had long enough to process his looks properly, and although she knew that Kalona were deceptive enough to pretend to be all nice, she was going to go with her instincts, and those weren't telling her to cut and run.
'My brother,' she said, getting to her feet, shaking herself as though she were a gangly puppy, shedding leaves from her short tail and mane.
'He looks, well sort of like you,' Marut was beginning to think she'd been a little daft for immediately leaping to the conclusion that every large Soquili with bat-like wings and a normal tail was her brother.
'He has those sort of wings, and a regular tail. He's got Kalona blood, and I have too, on our mother's side.' she explained. 'Soooo.' she elongated the word, looking at him. 'You're what? At least half-Kalona huh?'

Cobalt had to smile. She was so small, yet so full of personality. Were all foals this interesting? "Ah. That would explain why you were so startled to see me." His suspicions confirmed, Cobalt felt a touch of sadness. He wished that he wouldn't frighten young foals, but was glad that the filly seemed to have gotten over what fear had been present in her violet eyes.
"Yeah. To my knowledge, anyway. My parents didn't exactly stick around, so I'm not a hundred percent sure that I'm only half-Kalona. Luckily, I didn't inherit the Kalona's vicious personality." He looked at the filly more closely. She didn't possess any Kalona traits. At least, no physical ones. "You must not have very much Kalona blood. You seem perfectly normal to me." Cobalt smiled at her again, more warmly. "My name is Cobalt. What's yours?"

'Well y'never know if it's going to be the kind that is okay, or a Kalona, or half-Kalona that is going to chew you into bitty bits. I'd rather be a small bit cautious,' she grinned, aware that she hadn't been so much that time, and had gambolled up to Cobalt like a lamb to a wolf. Luckily it had turned out fine.
'S'good thing you didn't,' Marut said, shaking her head again. There was one leaf that seemed to not want to get out of her mane, she could just see it out the corner of her eye when she shook.
'Hey Mister Cobalt, wanna pull this leaf out for me? Stupid thing won't get off.' she asked, giving her 'I'm cute as a button' look, which she only turned on when she wanted something. Most of the time she didn't do that girly, playing on cuteness act.
'S'only my mother's side, I'm a quarter. I think. That's what my mother said anyways. One of my brothers looks it though.'

Cobalt's heart melted. She was completely adorable, and even for one as guarded and distant as he was, he couldn't help warming up to her. Gingerly pulling the leaf out with his teeth, he tried his best to hide his fangs, and he wondered if she had seen them, despite his best efforts.
"Is that better?" He asked, his voice soft. He was still contemplating what she had said. That it was a good thing he didn't inherit the Kalona personality. It reminded him of his meeting with another foal, that had told him the exact opposite. That it was a shame he was without it. It gave him something to think about, that was for sure.
"Is that so?" He snapped out of his thoughts immediately. A young foal that looked Kalona...even though he only had a quarter of the blood? Cobalt immediately wondered if he felt like a monster, too. Then he shook that thought out of his mind. Certainly not. After all, her brother would be the same age as she was, and that was too young to worry about such things. "I certainly hope he doesn't act the part as well."
He grinned at her. "You still didn't tell me your name. I suppose I'll just have to call you Miss Filly." He chuckled, a deep rumbling sound. "Although I would much rather call you by your given name."

Marut had just caught a glimpse of his sharp pearly whites, but as her own mother had a pair of fangs it was nothing to her. She shook her short mane and nodded;
'Yup, thanks Mister Cobalt!' she smiled up at him. 'He acts like a silly head sometimes,' she confided, her nose crinkling as she grinned again. 'But he hasn't eaten me, so I think he's okay.' she turned on the spot. 'See? No bite marks.'
She blinked, did she really not tell him her name when he asked? 'Oh sorry Mister Cobalt, I'm Marut, pleased to meet you!' she made that bow thing that her mother kept trying to teach her, saying it was polite or something. She ended up with her head tilted far over and peered between her legs. 'Oww..bowing hurts,' she groused, before looking at the stallion again. 'What you up to then?'

Cobalt sighed in relief. She didn't seem too distressed, so she must not have seen his fangs, or perhaps they didn't bother her. She did have Kalona blood herself, although he would have never guessed it.
"Ah, yep, no bite marks. I guess he is a good sort of Soquili, then." Cobalt grinned at the little filly. She was quite spirited, this one.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Marut." His grin became a chuckle as she attempted a bow.
"Me? Well, I..." How could he tell her that he was traveling alone to protect everyone around him? He couldn't. Besides, no one needed to know about that. It was under control, nothing to worry about. "I was out, just enjoying the scenery. What about you? What brings you out here all alone? Surely your mother is wondering where you've gone."

Marut had managed to stand straight again, wiggling one of her gangly legs with a little click.
'Ooh, clicky noise.' she said, trying to get it to make the noise again, and forgetting for a moment she had company of the tall, and interesting kind.
'Pleasure? Yeah, it's good to meet you as well. Just enjoying scenery, not meeting a friend or your family then? ' she persisted, leaving behind cute and going for nosey next.
'This is where I was born!' she announced. 'Well not exactly right here.' Marut grinned, explaining. 'But in this area. My mum knows it's safe so she lets me and my brothers wander a bit but we can only go so far.'

Cobalt stifled a laugh at her adorable antics. He wondered, if he ever had foals of his own, whether or not they would share the same qualities as this one. Giving it a little thought, he didn't see any real reason they wouldn't be...unless the tainted blood he would pass on to them blossomed in their veins, making them more predatory than he.
"I don't really have any family, and my friends are scarce and few. So, yes, I suppose I am simply enjoying the scenery." He smiled at her. "But I don't want to bore you with tales of my past." He couldn't give such a burden to her. She had only a drop of the Kalona blood, she would never face the trials he had to go through because of it.
"Oh, really now? I suppose that's fine, then, if your mother allows it. I wouldn't want you to get in trouble." He grinned at her. "This is a fine place to live, Marut. It looks like you have a good life here."

Silent thoughts. Marut didn't internalise her thoughts too much yet, but she wondered what it was that adults thought about when they feel silent, with that distant expression on their faces.
'Not many friends, how come?' she asked, though she wasn't too young to understand that Kalona blood wasn't always as easily accepted by most Soquili. She did have an unusual family in that respect.
'Stories? I bet you don't have boring stories, I bet they are really exciting.' Where might this stallion have been, and what had he seen? Far more than she had no doubt.
'Nope, no trouble. Well unless I get really dirty, Mum says I'm like a wild boar for attracting dirt.' she said the words with pride however. Dirt was for playing in and having fun was better than having a perfect mane and tail.

Cobalt chuckled softly. "Let's just say that they think I'm sort of scary. But you don't have to worry about me. I get by alright." He smiled at her. She was such a lovable filly, she would have no trouble finding friends. He was happy for her, happy that her life would be absent of the troubles that haunted his footsteps.
He grinned wryly. "Well...they may be interesting to some. But you would find them boring, I'd wager." He hoped she would leave it be. His tales were full of sorrow, heartache, and pain. There were few moments like this one, full of smiles and light conversation.
"Oh-ho! You are? Well, I don't think your mother would say those words with such gleefulness. But there is no harm in it, I think. After all, a little dirt never hurt anyone."
