Day breaks
daunting and scary above the shadows,
for friendly is the dark and gloom—
Impenetrable armor against the cutting
honesty that day hurls forth.
Cruel radiance illuminates
chilling ghouls better left veiled.
Brutal specters of reality lurk
outside the concealing cloak of night.
Be wary! The gripping tentacles of light unfurl,
strangling you with hidden truths.
Day breaks
down all defenses.
Left shivering in the naked truth.
So cold before the fiery sky.
Trembling under the glaring sun.
Yet… so warm beneath the moon.
Cradled snug in his lying embrace.
Lost in broad daylight, and
blinded by frigid reality.
The last shelter—a shadow—a solace.
All is well
contently clinging to the kind shade, and
distorting the terrible reality exposed by day.
All is well
refusing to accept:
There will always be the telling light of dawn.
