Stupid, godforsaken eyes!
A black, bloodsplattered Ulaya cursed as she sauntered through a grassy area, staggering in her steps as she felt her way around. She growled, slowly moving her way towards a river. She led a complicated life, what with the lack of sight always hindering her. Though her scents of smell, hearing, and touch were enhanced and she nearly had a sixth sense to sense things around her, Lefora longed to have her sight back. If she could wish for one thing in the world, it would be for her sight to be returned to her . . . Or . . . . . . She sighed, dismissing the thought. No matter how much she dearly missed him, it was likely she would never meet the Ulaya again . . . She had his scent memorized and his image -which happened to be the last thing she ever saw- was burned into her head, his perfect features frozen in time.
But she could certainly forget about looking for him. Who knows where he might've flown off to or how far away she had travelled since when she first met him. Even more so, who knew if he had found someone else . . . Lefora choked back the tears. The thought was overwhelming and she could not erase it. It mercilessly stabbed at her heart and ate away inside her. He was a very attractive Ulaya, let alone nice. He could certainly find someone else, someone better. Their came another wretched pierce of pain at her heart and she let out a sob, climbing her way onto a rock by the river. Tears fell from her eyes as despair consumed her. A short nap always seemed to be her tourniquet, but lately she had began to realize that they did so very little . . . . . . . .

As soon as winter's cold breath lost its frost, the winged male had fled from the vicinity with a murky need enveloping his restless limbs. When the melting of snow ended the period of stillness, the nonchalant mood of the pale ulaya twisted into a strange desire to move, run, and fly. He was a wanderer and always had been with no river or hill able to hindering his ability to fly. It was always a lazy pattern where he drifted across the roguelands until winter, rested the long icy days, then returned to his nomad way of life as soon as the first touch of green spread across the land.
However, this time, something drew him back. His vivid red eyes took in the landscape from as he glided barely a stretch from the swaying grass littered across the ground. Quietly, his paws touched the ground and he moved through the familiar lands effortlessly. Every stride was long and impatient as though he had a clear destination; however, he had none. He wasn't sure why he came back nor was he sure what he was looking for.

Lefora's eyes snapped open, her heartbeats quickening dramatically. For several long moments, she had completely lost her all her senses, aside from her keen sense of smell. She had caught his scent drifting in the breeze, and it completely overcame her. Was he really here or was her mind playing tricks on her, taking advantage of the undeniable fact that she longed to be with him more than anything else? But it was so distinct, so clear . . . Just like she remembered it. Her heart could suffer an attack of disappointment if he turns out to not be there, but if he turned out to be there and she completely missed him, she would shatter like glass. Raising her head from her paws, she looked down at the water, water she could not see. Her eyes still showed emotion to some extent, and if one were to look into her eyes at that moment, they'd see her completely zoned out and lost in thought. She bit her lip. It was worth a shot . . .
She stood up on the rock, unsteady at first, and tried to find her way off it, completely falling off. She growled at herself. Typical, everyday accident for her and she still reprimanded herself. She got back up on all fours and fumbled her way around, faltering in her first few steps. Depression already began to engulf her. He was prone to leave before she reached him, flying away with those brilliant large, blue, feathery wings. She let out a sigh and continued feeling her way around, quickening her pace even if it meant several trips and falls. It would be worth it if he was there. Just wait . . . . . Just for a little bit . . . She pleaded, though not saying anything out loud. It wasn't like her to show weakness.

The warm breeze suddenly stilled, unnerving him enough for him to pause in his frantic pace. His ears flicked back and forth curiously but also very cautiously. The days of wandering alone had worked on his nerves, making him slightly more irritable and impatient then usual if not jumpy. Mostly in this unpleasant time of year, the days were more humid than he would prefer, without a cooling breeze. The soft ribbon around his neck seemed to grow tighter the more he thought about it. The hairs on his body stood on ends as though something big was in his reach; however, not his sight.
However, soon the wind returned blowing his scent towards the south and that unease soon passed without a second though. He didn't look back since he never often does and proceeded to continuing forth, against the light flow of the winds. But, this time, his long stride grew slightly lazier and slower to match the rising heat of day. His eyes looked forwards towards what shade looked friendly enough to offer shelter.

Tripping again, Lefora hissed to herself. She'd never get to him at this rate. She could feel the grass around her and realized she had at least arrived at the grassy plain she had left not too long ago. Another tear fell from her eye and she did not bother to wipe it away. No time for that. She rose to her feet again, continuing toward the scent. Damn it! It was so bloody strong. He had to be here . . . Or so she hoped. Her ears flicked around, hoping to catch some sound of movement . . . . .
And there it was. She could hear an Ulaya move through the grass with a long graceful stride. She stopped dead in her tracks, listening closely. Her mind couldn't have been making this up. He was only so many yards away. Though she still didn't call out his name, in fear that it was only another illusion and she'd be making a fool out of herself yelling out a name that would never be answered. She sighed and her legs obeyed her again as she continued, her pace quicker than it was beore.

The glaring of the sun blinded him slightly when he turned at the sound of a follower. Not knowing who or what had followed him, he took on the offensive just in case. Through his travels, he had become more wary of the unknown and kept his ears up until he knew what he was up against. With an easy swoop of his wings, he eased up and over the creature and ended up behind it where the wind swept his scent away from them.
From his sun-spotted vision, he could only make out a dark form of another ulaya. He had not met many others; therefore, found it safe to assume this was a stranger. His voice was rough from lack of use. "It's not nice to sneak up on others, you know."

That voice . . . It was different, but she knew it well enough. She sighed and turned around, though that did nothing for her, but sometimes others felt more comfortable when they were facing each other. She pondered, choosing her words carefully. She had forgotten how nonchalant and stoic he could be. The tears no longer fell, for she never publicly showed her weaknesses, not even to him. Her lips parted, but only after several moments did a sound finally come. "I had no intentions of sneaking up on you . . ." She replied, internally screaming at her useless eyes. At the same time, she had no idea if he even remembered her. Where had he gone? She tentatively took a step or two forward, hesitant in her approach. She didn't want to make him nervous and more so, she didn't want to make a fool of herself and trip over. Jinxing herself, she yelped as a stone caught her foot and she fell flat on her face.

Asriel found himself pausing his irritated mood to think. Did that voice sound familiar? The strange image of a dark ulaya passed through his mind but it was also difficult for him to connect this face with the stranger standing before him. He had decided it would be better to approach until she suddenly flew at him and fell onto her face. A slightly amused expression passed over his face but he knew better than to laugh at a female; after all, they could become vicious without warning. He trotted over to witness, for himself, the murky color of her eyes. His guess was correct. "As graceful as always, Lefora," he spoke before reaching down to help her up with a gentle nudge.

Her heart seemed to stop and then a smile formed on her face. It was him, and he remembered her. She blinked and stood up, flicking her tail to get the dust off. "Thank you." She said. "I do find myself very graceful." She added sarcastically. She paused and licked her lips, thinking about what to say next. "It's been a while . . ."

"I can see that." Asriel chuckled, remembering now how this particular female never seemed to fail to amuse him. After all, he wasn't easily amused which was easy to tell straight off. He gave her a good look to make sure everything about her was just as he remembered. He couldn't understand why he would bother to care. Perhaps this ulaya reminded him of his childhood friend he once knew. A lingering sadness snaked though his tender but fortified heart before he pushed it away.
"'A while' hasn't changed you much, I see," he replied easily. It's hard to determine whether or not it was a complement or not. However, that's just how Asriel was.

"No as a matter of fact it hasn't. It hasn't changed you much either, at least I don't think it did . . ." Lefora replied, a frown tugging at the ends of her mouth. She couldn't see him . . . With a huff, she began to walk up to him, or where she thought he was. "You still wearing that ribbon?" She asked, completely walking by him without realizing it. " . . . . Hang on, where are you?" She whined, turning around in circles.

"I hope that's a good thing," Asriel retorted with very little real interest on the subject. Afterall, the never did have an deep concern for his own manners so long as it does not come out as blatantly offending. He then noticed, to his surprise, that she had stood and started walking pass then away from him. She was looking right past him as though quite defiant or angry at him. His head churned at the possibility that he had offended her something. He wasn't the kindest fellow in the world but she should have known that.
Then, while he was in thought, she starting twirling around in circles, causing him greater confusion. At her next words, he suddenly exploaded in laughter and his unsuspecting body shook with tremors that run and tickle though every inch of his muscles. This was just too much!

Lefora pouted and stopped turning. She was dizzy and followed the laughter, walking up to him and huffed. "Enjoy the freak show of the disabled?" She asked, batting at him softly. She began sniffing, her nose poking the ribbon around his neck. She knew Asriel wasn't very comfortable with physical contact, but she wasn't one to care all too much. "Ah, so you do still wear it." She said. She began poking at it a bit more with her nose, when her muzzle slipped through on of the holes the bow made. She frowned and tried to tug her way out of it, only getting herself tangled even more. With the ribbon tight around her muzzle completely closing it, she whined, the high pitched sound coming from her voice box and out through her nose. Help! She thought, internally wailing and reprimanding herself.

Asriel instantly cut his easy laugh and stiffened his body at her approach and turned obviously uncomfortable at her little play with his bow. It seems all females had a tendency to find it extremely amusing. He would have answered had not Lefora turned her head a wrong way or something odd and gotten herself stuck! Not the mention, she starting flailing like a drowning fish. With no other option, he grabbed onto her ear with his mouth to keep her from whipping him anymore with it and to keep her still while his paw moved to twist the bow this way and that to sucessfully untangle her. "Was that the grand finale?"

"Haven't you had enough amusement for one day?" Lefora asked, cracking her jaw back into place. "Then again, it is very tough to amuse the grand Asriel." She added mockingly with a smirk. She sighed and flipped her red hair out of her face. "But thank you. I doubt that would have been the grand finale considering the fact that I'm prone to trip over something and land face first in a pool of mud or worse." She shuddered with the thought.
After thinking for a little while she sighed again. "Why do you stiffen whenever I approach you? You know I'm not going to hurt you. Or do I scare you?" She asked with a smirk.
