So, I have been potty training my daughter for a while.
She has the grasp of peeing in the potty, but if I don't keep a close eye on her she'll pee on the floor (like she just did 5 minutes ago). My problems is that she's always been very private about pooping.
She refuses to admit to me that she has to poop & always waits until naptime when she has a Pull-Up on. I have considered putting her down for her nap in panties, but I dread the poopy/pee mess that I would be stuck cleaning up after wards.
We sit on the potty for a while before nap, but how long is too long? She never seems like she's going to poop!! She just gets angry & gets of the toilet...

Most things I've read on PTing cover defecation training, as it is very common for toddlers to not want to poop on the potty. The biggest reasons seem to be 1) they view their poop as part of themselves and they're uncomfortable with it being flushed away...it's actually upsetting to them, and 2) most toddlers before PTing poop by squating in the corner and it can be hard to translate that into pooping in the potty (they may not have the right kind of leverage to do so...so if her potty set up doesn't have a way for her feet to be on the floor to push, you should look into changing that). Also they usually cover making sure your toddler is eating enough fiber and drinking enough water so it's easy to poop when the time comes.
So it could be a variety of things, but it's not at all uncommon.
Since you didn't mention that she's able to tell you that she has to potty...it could be that she's still a little young and not fully ready to PT. Most children aren't fully ready until they're closer to three then two. Just a thought. smile

How old is she? Is she using the adult potty or a small potty?
Personally, I wouldn't push it. It also depends on the child. Some might feel more shamed by soiling their pants and might have the more comfort in the pullups. Some just aren't really affected by it. I've known some kids that if they do not have the pullups and aren't ready, they will constipate themselves for days.
It could be a routine thing. It sounds like it's counterproductive if she's getting mad before naptime (when she's all ready tired). I would wait to try getting her to poop, she may not be ready for it. I know my oldest wanted it done on his terms. She may not know she has the need to go poop.

Everything I've read and heard from "seasoned" moms says that that part of potty training takes longer, even when your child knows what the sensation is and can alert you that they have to go.
I think you said your daughter was 2.5? While girls potty train earlier, she may be three or older before she gets the hang of that aspect.

Thanks for all your responses guys <333
Aleksia is now 2.5 years old She does tell me when she has to pee, just not when she has to poop. She does understand what she needs to do in the toilet, I think that maybe the problem definitely could be that she doesn't know she is going to poop until right before it happens. We started her on a potty & she was using that until she was well established with it. From there we moved her to the big people toilet with a kids seat on it & a stool for her to climb up to the toilet as well as rest her feet on while she uses the potty.
I have definitely noticed that she's private with pooping ever since she was little, she would go and hide while she was pooping. So I have decided to see if maybe she'd like to have a little privacy instead of me standing right there with her the whole time. Yesterday we sang some songs & read some books & I even told her I'd give her a freezie if she went poop in the potty. She hadn't gone in 2 days & I knew that if she went for her nap without going in the toilet that she would wake up with a poopy Pull-Up. So after about 20 minutes of hanging out in the bathroom with her I left her in there to see if she just wanted privacy & she pooped in the toilet!! I made as big of a deal about it as I could & told her how proud I was of her. She sure was proud of herself.
In the afternoon she pooped in her panties while we were outside without telling me, but I do feel like getting her to poop on the toilet that one time really is a first step in the right direction xD

Oh, I should probably also mention that she was pooping in her potty occasionally before we moved her up to the big people toilet. I think that if things aren't really moving along that we will take out the potty again & work on getting her to poop in it.

Something I was told that I thought I'd share, was that if they still poop in thier sleep then they do not have enough control or awareness to fully potty train. It is still an automatic behavior. Perhapes she just needs more time, to pick up on her bodies cues.
