Okay Today while I was on Gaia, I was fixing up on of my mules profiles, trying to find a good profile bout insanity, and I needed to fix the media on it[which that still needs to be fixed >.>;] I was searching for a certain video on Youtube when I ran across a video for a song that I absouletly adore. But this had a different video to it and I watched it, and it was great. biggrin So I wrote a story using that video as a base here is the story:
The Miracle
The boy brushed the girl’s hair, as the final touches on his new and first invention. He had created a robot girl. Her hair silky fine, the hair of a doll, her face soft and pale, perfectly proportioned. Even though she was a robot she did have soft skin. The boy whipped his forehead and sighed. He smiled brightly at his sleeping creation. He relaxed his body from standing on his toes.
“Alright,” He stated, “It’s time to turn you on, and see how well this works.” He said. His stomach was filled with butterflies as he walked around to the back of her and reached of the on switch. He could hear his heart beat as he flipped it. He ran back around to the front and waited patiently until the robot girl opened her eyes. At last the final thing he had to do was name her. He had been thinking of so many different names for her. He had finally decided on a name for her. Raine. That was perfect, since he was waiting for her hazy grey eyes to open. But, they never did. “Did I do something wrong?” He questioned himself. He ran around to the other side to see if he actually flipped the switch or not. It was in the on position. He bit his lip and kicked a chair. It didn’t work! He picked up the recently kicked chair and sat in it. He put his face in his hands, and started to sob. And that was it; something triggered the robot to finally awaken. He looked at the robot her eyes open. He rubbed the tears forming in his eyes away and ran to the robot. His mouth open slightly at it.
“Who are you?” the robot questioned in a voice that sounded beautiful, the sound of bells ringing in the wind. It would be even more beautiful, if she didn’t speak in a monotone voice.
“I’m...I’m... “He tired speaking, but he was just too stunned that it was really working! “I’m the one who created you. My name is, Caden.”
“Then you are my master.” She spoke. That wasn’t exactly what he wanted to hear. He frowned. “Master, what is my name?” He fought a smile, still upset with her calling him Master.
“Your name is Raine.” She didn’t smile, she didn’t frown.
“Raine...” She said as if testing the name. Caden looked at her. He was entirely confused. He had made sure to give her a personality. That was something that took the longest to create. And he had written it in her program to understand that. So why? Why was she acting like...like a robot? It wasn’t what he wanted. He wanted this robot to be a believable person so he could forget his loneliness. This was just probably increasing it. And then it hit him. Maybe, even though he gave her a personality and had written it in her program to use it. Maybe it was because she was missing something else. But what? Days went by as he tried to figure it out. He had given several books to Raine to see if she could figure out what was missing. Caden kept going through the same programs and safe files over and over again. But he just couldn’t figure it out. That was when Raine tapped him on the shoulder. He looked at her empty eyes. Trying to figure it out. He spun around completely in his chair and stretched.
“What is it Raine?” He asked.
“Master...What is a heart?” She asked. He stared at her. Blinking every so often. “This book says it carries blood around through the body. But then another book said it was something that gave emotions.” Caden jumped out of the chair his eyes wide. He hugged Raine. That was it! She lacked a “heart”. “Master?”
“Oh Raine! I figured it out! I know what you need!”
“Master?” She was confused. Though her voice didn’t make it pronounced, Caden knew she was confused.
“Raine don’t you worry! I’ll work until I get you a heart!” Raine just stared at him. The boy worked day and night, growing old, while she remained the same. Then one day he turned off the machines. Raine saw him do this and walked over to him to help him out of his chair. “Take me to the door.” He whispered his voice weak. She complied and brought him to the door. He leaned on his cane and she let go of him. “Raine. No matter what goes on from now on, never, and I mean never touch Program Heart. I’m afraid it might be too much for you.”
“Yes Master.” She said. Caden sighed and walked outside, he wondered if curiosity would get the better of her and she’d try it. But that was something he would never know he guessed. Raine watched as her master walk to the tree outside the building in which they lived. “Goodbye, my Master.” No matter how hard he tried to get her to call him Caden she refused. Even until the end.
Several years passed and she wandered the empty building. He kept looking over Program Heart. Trying to see if she could help her master. But she couldn’t. She remembered her master’s words. Not to try the program. But she knew if she didn’t try then she would never know the results. This was another one of her master’s ideas. She started the program up and waited for it to find everything. When it said “touch screen to begin.” She did as the computer said, and she touched the screen. Her eyes widened as far as they could possibly go as she felt something inside her start moving. She felt her body tremble as she dropped to her knees. She held her face in her hands and felt something wet on them. She moved her hands away from her face and saw the drops of water on them.
“Am I...crying?” she wondered. She felt the wind from the outside come rushing through the door. She looked outside and saw the old tree. She stood up and walked to the door and stood there for a second. Before smiling for the first time and running outside She ran to the tree and an even bigger smile graced her features. She remembered the first time that her master took her to the tree how excited he was. She remembered that they watched the little tree grow. She remembered everything that he tried teaching her. Things that were impossible for her to grasp before, she understood them now. She sat on the ground and began picking flowers, something her master did. He had turned them in a crown for her. But she couldn’t remember how he did that. She just picked more flowers until she found something. She moved it, and stared at it. It was a hand. Her master’s hand. She felt tear in her eyes again. As she began to cry. She dropped the picked flowers and clutched the ground. She shouted at it. She remembered how she just stood there and watched her master die. She managed to pull herself together enough to lean against one of the roots of the tree. She sobbed quietly to herself. She felt a warm light against her skin. She whipped the tears from her eyes and looked at the light. Even though she couldn’t see through it she knew her master was on the other side. “Master!” She cried. Tears again started falling down her face. “Master!!” she shouted at the light again. Tears falling heavier. She closed her eyes tightly and screamed. “CADEN!!!” She opened her eyes and reached out her hand. Something had come out of the light and knocked her over. She blinked a few times to get her bearings and rolled over to lie on her stomach. She looked over and saw a young Caden lying on the ground next to her smiling smugly at her. She felt heat rush to her face and she turned away.
“Raine...You started the program.” He said smiling at her. He sat up and moved her face towards him, so he could look at her. Her eyes were full of life now.
“Mast--”She start but He put his hand over her mouth.
“You called my name before. You are allowed to call me Caden. I’ve told you this before.” She said smiling.
“Caden...” she smiled, “I’m sorry I --”
“Don’t apologize. “
“But you told me not to!”
“I understand that, but I was hoping that you would start it anyways.” He grinned that old goofy grin. She copied the face and laughed. They spent the rest of the day doing things that she wanted to do. They were all the things that she missed out on while he was alive. They climbed the tree, the picked flowers and he showed her how to make a crown. She place the crown of flowers on his head and smiled. He smiled softly and kissed her forehead. She felt the heat rushed to her face.
“Mast--I mean, Caden, I never knew about all these emotions! There are so many.” She explained to him what happened after she started the program. They leaned against the trunk of the tree. Hand in hand, and she told him everything she’s noticed now that she had a “heart”. He listened and smiled. Answered questions when she asked them. He was interested in what she had to say. The sun started to set, and he quieted her. “Caden?”
“Just watch.” He whispered. They watched the sun set about half way, when a strong breeze came by. It brought along the scent of flowers, along with their petals. The wind swirled around them and seemed to pick up Caden. He looked at Raine with sadness written in his eyes. She frowned, as the wind started taking him away from her.
“Caden! Please don’t go!” She breathed.
“I have to Raine...” he whispered, “don’t worry, I’ll be fine.”
“Caden please don’t go! Don’t leave me!” She said starting to get more panicked.
“Raine...just know that I love you. You are my family, never forget that.” Those were his last words as he vanished into the air.
“CADEN!” she screamed, but the wind stopped and he was gone. She began to cry again. As she watched the sunset, she felt the emotions slipping from her. The program was coming to an end. She leaned her head back on the tree sighed and smiled. When the sun finally set the program shut down, along with shutting down Raine herself. Her body fell over to one side, her eyes shut and a smile on her face. She now understood everything.
The End.
