Does it have one or no? Why or why not? If so, what is it's role?
I ask this question because I've known Pagans whose beliefs and practice were not at all nature-based and others who used it as a foundation for everything. (It occurs to me that not everyone in this guild will identify as Pagan, but for these people, the question still stands.)
My own beliefs and practices have not yet had time to solidify fully, but I already know that my relationship with nature will serve as a focal point. I tend to view humans as animals with needs and physiology that hasn't changed much over the last 10,000 years, leaving us adapted for a much different existence than most of us in industrialized countries currently live. Experiences I've had while hiking or even just sitting and observing natural phenomena have brought me closer to what I perceive as divinity than any ritual or building. I would tentatively say that many of my views echo those espoused by the Transcendentalists such as Thoreau and Emerson.
So, how about you?
