So I've gotten this email before. But I just logged into my mom's AOL account, and she'd gotten it to. It drives me absolutely insane with fury.
Here's what's in it:

Death is certain but the Bible speaks about untimely death!
Make a personal reflection about this.....
Very interesting, read until the end.....
It is written in the Bible (Galatians 6:7):

'Be not deceived; God is not mocked:
for whatsoever a man sow,
that shall he also reap.

Here are some men and women
who mocked God :

John Lennon (Singer):

Some years before, during his interview with an American Magazine, he said:
'Christianity will end, it will disappear.
I do not have to argue about
that. I am certain.
Jesus was ok, but his subjects were too simple, today we are more famous than Him' (1966).

Lennon, after saying that the Beatles were more famous than Jesus Christ, was shot six times.

Yeah. FOURTEEN YEARS LATER.
If Jesus was so enraged, why'd he take so long to finish the job?
Everyone dies eventually. And apparently, every time someone dies, it's because they said something against God at one point in their life. It just makes me really angry. It's like they don't care John was murdered- they're just pointing fingers and going, "Oh. Well, he deserved it, because he said something taken ENTIRELY out of context, and he belongs in hell, even though he was a great person and promoted peace and tried to change the world to save human lives- no, that wasn't good enough for Jesus, because he destroyed himself by saying something everyone freaked out about but didn't even understand."

dkfjhlfgsdfgyuesfhn. I'm sorry. But that just pisses me off. A lot.

Ok well first off Jesus and God don't kill people for saying things like that, and he was not killed right after he said the Beatles were more famous than Jesus. And what do they say about Mr.Chapman? That he was a good guy for killing John, who did later apologize about making the statement. Grr, I really wanna talk to the people who really think that John was killed by Jesus and God, because he said something. scream

Oh s**t. Will I also be shot six times in 14 years?

Why even let this bother you? It's just some extremely bored bible thumper who had a lot of time on their hands to write that stupid email up. Who cares. They'll be shot down by God for not doing anything with their lives.

John was absolutely right with his claim. They were indeed more popular than Jesus Christ. Think of it like this, would you rather attend Church, or attend a Beatle concert? The answer is quite obvious. Christianity is fading fast. It is becoming weak and fruitless, full of blind faith and false hopes. Once all the older generations fade away, this world will most likely crumble and Christianity is no exception.

I'm a bit miffed, too, but it's just some super-nut saying something that everyone will either agree with or be miffed by. Every religion seems to have its super-nuts.

If there is a god, I don't think he/she would stoop that low because of one thing he said that was taken out of context. I doubt even a really bad email could make a deity stoop that low.

Don't let it get you down too long.

I hate it when people quote John Lennon for either their pro-religion or anti-religion agendas.

John Lennon was NOT anti-religious and both sides using that for their agendas is wrong.

For the record, I am not anti-religious in anyway and I feel religion has many great benefits.

The Vatican forgave him (which they should have done long ago). It's time for other people to do the same. I'd rather focus on his music than his mistakes.

I'm a Catholic. I do not give a s**t if John Lennon or anybody else has/had an unsavory opinion about my religion. If everybody agreed with you, what a boring world it would be. I know we can't really debate the 'will of God' as it's ineffable by definition, but, I'm pretty sure he's no Hitler, killing off the dissenters. WTF is that.

As for Christianity and Rock 'n' Roll vanishing... C'mon. Far as I can see it, you can take away the four wheels, but the idea of a car will never die. And there is the beauty of ideas. You can take away the man, but the idea of John Lennon and who he was and wanted to be, that's not going to go anywhere.

And anyway, he was right. Jesus only appealed to the Christian audience, big as it is, but The Beatles appealed to people of EVERY faith. So what's a bigger crowd; Christians, or Christians + EVERYBODY else?

I've gotten that as well. Mentioned many people, including John. He didn't deserve to die. But there is a saying that goes like this:

"Beautiful people die young"

Or so I've heard. It makes perfect sense really. John was right, look at religion now, it's shrinking. Not many people care for Church anymore now that they've got HD Tvs, computers, Iphones, I can go on and on...the point is John didn't die because what he said. Besides, he was right. A man way before his time.
