Anyone looking for a new slice-of-life series? Or a series with a good story? Are you fine with the yuri only being implied? If you answered yes to any of these questions, I recommend Haibane Renmei.

The series has a simple plot - the life of the Haibane (specifically Rakka) in this town - but it's fascinating to simply learn about the Haibane, their customs, and the town itself. The characters are also very enjoyable, and the series does a great job balancing everything already mentioned with later plot developments.

If you need explicit yuri in your shows, Haibane Renmei isn't for you. If you don't like shows where very little happens, this show isn't for you. Other than that, this show is one of my all-time favorites, and I'd highly recommend it looking for a new series. smile

Haha it's fine if it sounds rather like a review. You're pretty impartial about it, which is definitely helpful to anyone looking into the series (and that's part of what this forum is about, recommending and discussing yuri XD).

I actually didn't get to watch much of this, but I kind of liked the depth and mystery implied in the first couple of episodes I did watch. There's a sizeable enough yuri fanbase for this anime, and it's a bit of a niche series but a lot of people have liked it. The unique take on the idea of "angels" was really neat too, though I was a little freaked when I watched Rakka's wings emerging and so on. I thought the halos were cute, though. I just loved the way the creators interpreted these characteristics.

ABE was at a workshop near here, but I ended up not being able to go. You have no idea how jealous I am.

I LOVED this anime back when I was a kid. In fact, up til now, I still like it. ^^ I was practically to Haibane Renmei before. xD Used to stay up late at night just to watch it everyday. =P I wish it was longer though... -.-

I loved this anime! I especially liked that it seemed very introspective. The closing is one of my favorite anime closings ever.^^
