After his meeting with Aranthos, Zopyros was being careful of where he treaded. Blatantly avoiding the parts of D'ob that he had met him in, he now was far from there, nearer to the ocean's direction so he could escape should he need to. Quietly shying a few steps forward, grass-hued eyes watched as most families moved out of D'ob for the night. Good... He wanted nothing to do with being accused of harming a foal.

Shifting his weight slightly he stretched his wings before curling them against his back once more. Unused to the sweet grasses he did not eat much, instead content to watch the way that setting sun cast its golden-red hues over the treetops and the leaving Nequus. Of course, ignoring the way it shone on his own coat, the pale Aeri never paying much mind to himself.

Silently he took a few more steps, muzzle lowering to the grass to nibble at the tender tips, ears pricked and alert for any oncoming dangers. That Reya... He hoped he would not see that one again. Someone like Lucius... The other Aeri had been a comfort, knowing how one could get over their past to bring them better fortunes.

Spyke was a small Ichsa; he’d never met a smaller one but this did not make him a slow Ichsa by any means. The sweet soft grass of D’ob flew by under his black hooves as his slim legs carried him effortlessly from stride to stride and onward. Though he missed Sekhmet’s company, he had to admit that it was nice to be alone for a time. He was a sociable young stallion, he loved people but he was beginning to find that superficial, one time encounters were enough to satisfy him. So long as he managed to find at least one decent person to talk to per day, he was happy and the time by himself was... He wasn’t sure, but he felt that he could now appreciate the hours his father spent standing along looking out over the ocean.

Snorting and tossing his head, the small stallion pushed his tired legs into greater effort... and then slowed. A tall strong shape; an Aeri. Though it wasn’t overly large for one of its kind it towered over him by a good couple of hands at least. Though he had already met some decent sorts today, it had been some while since he’d met an Aeri; he was seldom awake at night so this was an uncommon opportunity.

Grinning to himself, the white-horned stallion dropped back to an easy trot and turned his hooves towards the grey and white creature. “Evenin’ friend, looks like bein’ a nice night.” Perhaps it was a silly pleasantry, but it was the first icebreaker that had come to mind; starting conversations with strangers at random was something he was getting pretty used to so any greent felt a touch tired to him these days.

The wingbeats of another Nequus had Zopyros on high alert. Shifting once more he raised his head to see who approached. An Ichsa? He hadn't met one of them, not really anyway... They were rarely awake at night, like the Bae.

At least this one was friendlier. There was a slight smile, a nod of greeting as he looked to this newcomer. "Evening, Ichsa. It does." He said quietly, still watching for any signs of agression but not trying to be too afraid. Not everyone was out to get him.

"What brings you out so late?" Simple conversations he could do, something plesant and warm. This other stallion seemed to just want company, or possibly to warm up to a loner. While most Nequus were alone, they at least spoke to one another. If this Ischa had been here for long, he would have noticed that Zopyros went out of his way to avoid others.

Spyke flicked his wings in a shrug. “I’m exploring the world right now, an seen as I hadn’ got tired yet t’night I didn’ see any reason t’ stop. Oh, right, m’ name’s Spyke; nice t’ meet y’.” Well good, the Aeri seemed pretty friendly to him thus far; he occasionally ran into grumpy bastards these days and though there weren’t too many of them he was always pleased when a stranger didn’t turn out to be a member of arseholes not-so-very-anonymous.

“You live around ‘ere then?” the sleek Ichsa asked after a moment with a tilt of his head. he could sort of understand how people chose to settle down here; everything was so pleasant and plentiful and peaceful. It wasn’t a place he could remain too long though; having grown up in Qurine, D’ob seemed rather dull by comparison.

The Aeri gave a slight nod of his head, a slight smile. He was glad that this Ichsa was friendly enough. "I'm Zopyros, nice to meet you too Spyke." Quite an interesting name.... Maybe he would ask about it later.

"No, not really... I spend most of my time in Quirne, that is my home." He had no idea that Spyke also called the ocean's shore home, it was so harge of a place that one could easily never find another there, much like D'ob.

"I've met many that have decided to explore. What is your reason?" He asked quietly, still watching the other.

The small Ichsa stood in silence for a few moments before giving a whinny of laughter and shaking his head. “Small world, hu? I live in Qurine too, or did until I left on this little trip of mine but it’s still ‘ome. As to why... Well I jus’ wanted t’ see new things an’ meet new people really. It’s jus’ been me an m’ Dad m’ whole life so, much as I love him, I felt in need of a change of pace, y’ know?”

How far away from the green-eyed Aeri had he been living, he wondered? It must have been a reasonable distance given that he’d never run across the stallion on his wanderings... Though those had usually been during the day. For all he knew, he could have been no more than a sun’s trip from Zopyros the whole time. Perhaps his father had met him; he would have to ask if he still recalled this meeting by the time he headed home again.

“So, what’re you doin’ s’ far from ‘ome then?” the tendril-winged Nequus asked with a grin. “It’s quite a step from Qurine here, I should know.”

The Aeri listened to the smaller Ichsa with interest, giving a smile and a bit of his own, lower octave of a laugh. "I do not cross paths with many in my home... But I am not usually awake this early." A change of pace was a fine reason to travel, though he liked to stick close to his own own.

The Ichsa and his father could live close... Zopyros made a mental note that he should try to wake earlier more often. It usually lead to some interesting encounters, such a this.

"I met a stallion, some time ago... He is on a quest to find his son, and I thought I would keep an eye out where I can." The pale Aeri went on, smiling to the Ichsa. "A change of scenery can be good." As much as he avoided others, it would seem the stallion wouldn't like company... But it was much the opposite, as there were times that Zopyros found himself craving the company of another, and yet not quite ready to seek someone out.

Spyke nodded approvingly to the Aeri’s words. “Well that’s good of y’, ‘m sure he’ll be grateful.” It was a shame when families were separated... Hu. Well that was a strange thought. What of his family, beyond his father in any case. His other was dead, he knew, and nothing was known of her family, but his father’s? He must have had parents too at some point, right? The blue stallion had never told him of them though, never even mentioned them. Perhaps he had never known them. Perhaps they had died. Frowning thoughtfully, Spyke resolved to add that to his list of things to ask. Even if it was something awful he was old enough to hear about it now, surely.

“Hey, perhaps I could keep a look out too,” Spyke suggested after a brief pause. “I mean, seen as I’m traveling it wouldn’t hurt me t’ keep an eye open, right?” It would be a useful thing to do, and he quite liked the idea of being useful. As much fun as just doing whatever he pleased whenever he pleased was, it was nice to be able to help people out once in a while.

Zopyros nodded slightly back, a smile still upon his muzzle. "I hope to at least help in some way." Not having a family of his own, Zopyros didn't know what it was like to be seperated... Well, when he was but just a colt... And those times were far gone, times he didn't wish to even think of.

"That would be a help." He nodded to Spyke, ears perked a bit. "The stallion looking is Lucius, he's an Aeri as is his son... Lucius has a dark coat, black I think, and wears the skeleton of an old Mage... But that is his story to tell."

Pausing, he smiled to the Ichsa. Skeleton-wearing Aeri may nto be everyone's perfect friend, but he hadn't startled Zopyros. "The colt - well, I suppose he would be a stallion now - that he is looking for is of a dark green with lighter spots, and the tips of his mane are yellow." It wouldn't help if Spyke looked for the Aeri without knowing what he looked like. "I think Lucius said his name is Vox."

...Okaaaaay, so he was looking for the son of some psycho then. Frankly he didn’t blame the kid for making himself scarce with a father who wandered around with a skeleton on his back. Nevertheless, Spyke nodded; even crazy people could love after all. “Right, I’ll keep a watch for him then.” And avoid meeting this Lucius if at all possible; last thing he wanted was to piss the guy off and wind up as part of a bone collection.

“So, anyway, I’m guessing you don’ know the area around ‘ere too well then, seen as y’ from Quirne? I been lookin’ about for interestin’ sights t’ visit see, so if you ‘ave seen any I’d appreciate knowing.” Thus far everything in D’ob had been a bit samey, but you never knew your luck; anything could be just over the next rise or in the next copse. Doubtless there wouldn’t be anything as interesting as for say Fyhi, but he might well find a nice waterfall or something similar to occupy him for a sun or two.

Lucius didn't seem like a psycho to Zopyros, but to each their own opinions. "Thank you." The white Aeri smiled softly, happy to think that he was helping. Maybe Vox would be happy to be reunited with his father.

"No, I don't know much about this place." He thought about it, looking around for a few moments. "Haven't seen any sights... But there was this Reya..." He was unsure abotu how to proceed, stopping and looking to Spyke again.

"I don't know if you'll believe me... But I think he was a ghost."
PostPosted: Wed Sep 03, 2008 1:48 am

The small Ichsa crinkled his nose and snorted. “Ghost hu? One worth avoiding I take it?” He’d been told the stories about ghosts that every foal was of course; mostly by travelers who hung around his father’s patch for a few days. From what he gathered, such spirits were almost never benevolent and were often vengeful and possessed of a great hated for the living.

It was possible, of course, that such stories were merely that and that ghost were lovely souls really but Spyke found that a little hard to believe.

In general, prejudices and preconceptions existed for a reason; Bae were hyperactive, Jala were hot tempered, Aeri were staid, Reya were sly, Ichsa were haughty and crossbreeds were mad and dangerous. Oh he’d met many who didn’t quite fit the mould but most had been at least close and the stronger the prejudice, the more right it was generally proven. That crossbreed mare he’d met... Salomé she’d said her name was he though; she’d decided he was from the moons because he had a white horn. If that wasn’t a connection made by a twisted mind he didn’t know what was.

“Was it anywhere near here?” the blue-eyed Ichsa asked after a moment, glancing about himself, “Any direction I should avoid going in?”

Zopyros nodded slightly, wings shifting again as he tried to ignore the shuddering feeling he got every time he thought of it. "Very much. I do not pretend to be the smartest Nequus, and he enjoyed taunting me. He would shift his wing anf move it through me." He shuddered a bit in the memory of the icy feeling. "I thought at first he was an illusionist, for he snorted and had a bit of blue flame to accompany it..."

Shaking his head slightly, he flickered his ears and looked around D'ob as far as he could see. "I moved here to be away from him, saw him at the other side of D'ob." Normally he got along with any Nequus, Reya didn't seem to mind him, but Jala... Sometimes they were too stuck-up for their own good, it wasn't a problem with his disposition but theirs. Bae were always nice, though they rarely craossed paths. ...Hm. This was the first Ichsa he had ever crossed paths with, but Spyke seemed nice enough.

Spyke glanced around the place too and nodded; no fire-snorting ghosts in sight right now. “Well I shan’t ‘ead off that way then,” he said with a grin to the other stallion, “I don’ fancy havin’ some git wave ‘is wing through me jus’ f’ ‘is own amusement.” As he finished speaking, a yawn ambushed the small Ichsa and, once it was over, he sighed and shook himself. “Seems like I should be off t’ find m’self a place t’ sleep the night,” he said with a nod, “y’ happen t’ spot any sheltered patches of trees or anythin’ nearby?” Hopefully he’d be able to find something of the sort; though it was warm in D’ob rain was frequent, and he didn’t fancy getting soaked in his sleep.

Good. Zopyros was glad that Spyke would take his advice. That Reya had been particularly frightening, and he hoped that none he crossed paths in would find themselves in the situation that he had the previous night.

There was a nod at the yawning Ichsa. He gave a smile, having just woken up not particularly tired himself. "There are plenty of places... But a particularly nice glade there." He nodded towards a section of the forest nearby. "It will help you stay dry, the trees are a little thicker at the tops."
