Klei had an odd feeling waking up this morning. He wasn't able to identify why but he couldn't get around it. "Mmmm... I gotta move." he said aloud. He thought that maybe if he started his day he'll forget about the feeling and everything would be alright. Or at least it might make him feel a bit better. He did his daily stretches then started to walk off; this time he headed north rather then south. He ran around the areas below his home enough times so he felt like a change of pace would be good for him. Plus being around the rocky terrain would be a better exercise.

He galloped along the mountain side leaping over any obstructions that broke through the surface until he noticed something different in the distance. "I don't remember there ever being a gap in the mountains..." he mumbled to himself. He actually grew annoyed from that gap being there. If one asked him why he'd reply that it is interrupting the flow of his mountain backdrop, or something stupid. They weren't even his mountains but he didn't care.

Klei had stopped galloping at this point and slowed to a trot then again to a walk. He walked up towards the gap and looked around, examining the opening and what could be on the other side. "I really don't remember this being here." He told himself aloud again. He seemed pretty sure that it just appeared but we all know it's always been there. It's just that he just never noticed it before.

"About damn time~"

The airy voice was gruff, annoyed and heated into more of a hiss than a wisp of sighing breath it normally was as of late. It wasn't because of the mare's pace - she'd been good about keeping an easy, gradual pace instead of racing the entire way north.

Of course, stopping now and then for food, drink, and rest had also been required, along with a few more random pauses for limited conversation between herself and what few other Soquili she'd been willing to approach.

Which, of course, hadn't been many.

No no, her tight voice was from one and one source only - that stupid stallion Jaci had been wrong about how far away the two-legger's village was from the mountains. It wasn't a two day trip. Try five!

"What does he think I am, an Angeli?" she spat to the whispering woods around her, tail twitching side to side in pure P.O.ed fashion. "Just 'cuz he might as well got spirit speed doesn't mean the rest of us do." Seriously. Two days? To the mountains? From th-

No. No. He's seriously gotta have time issues if that's how long he thought it took him. That thought settled her slightly, if not allowing an expression of bitter smugness to settle across her face. It didn't really matter though - if she had her way, she wouldn't be seeing the "wise" stallion again anyways. He and a few others had confirmed a desert lay beyond the piles of rock, a place were none dared to travel.

'Unless you were gifted with wings or the disposition of a killer', was the summery of almost everyone's amendment to their previous statement. She'd personally added in 'and those who just want to get out of here.' Still though, as she walked, though it'd been a relief to not hear sounds beyond the "silent" wildlife... it felt weird.

No hoof beats following her. No Kalona to frighten or tease her. No... nothing.

.....no..... wait... ma- No that's a rock. Okay, so there was noth -....hold on again...

Beatrice blinked a few times, freezing in place as she could only stare at the sight before her. There... was... someone... the hell? A stallion, was her conclusion when a distance-muffled version of his words reached her. Something about the path between the mountains. She rolled her eyes before pausing. Was he... going to the desert as well? Well that kind of killed the whole purpose of the trip now didn't it?

"Doesn't everyone know about the path?" Her voice ran out in front of her as she made her way lazily towards him. The concept of another possibly going the same way as her had darkened her mood, shot down her desire to race through to the desert. "Thought everyone did. Maybe not what's beyond it, but at least that it's there."

Her pace came to a halt a good distance away from him, eying the brightly marked male critically. Impossible to tell if he was the type to run away, but what was he doing so far north if he wasn't? "Those around the two-leggers are constantly muttering about demons that live on the other side of the mountains." Pink irises finally came to rest on the strange object on his head, raising a brow in question before falling to his eyes.

Klei grew more curious about the path he just now noticed and he might have even went through to the other side; but his attention was drawn to a sudden voice he heard. With a flick of the ear he turned his head to see if anything was here.

To him the sudden presence of a random mare startled him slightly since he didn't hear her coming. So to him she just appeared out of nowhere. With a light jump and without thinking he called out. "Did you say something?" Who knows if he'll regret those words or not but he'll soon find out now wont he? Who was this mare and where did she come from? Maybe she was always there and Klei just didn't notice? No. Klei would have definitely saw her there.

Upon noticing the mare and after bluntly asking his question he scanned her over. Was she wearing something on her front legs? Why on her front legs and not the back too? She looked like she had something on her mind with that raised brow of hers. Ignoring the fact how he asked her a question he glared back. Great... another one. He knew that it was due to himself in some way that she looked like that. Frankly he didn't care anymore. Every time he met someone they stared at him funny in which he always returned the favor.

The small jump caused her muzzle to twitch slightly, the corners of her mouth turning upward briefly before falling back to a neutral expression. Was this guy hard of hearing? She'd been sure her voice had been loud enough to carry... or had he been lost in thought? Or slow, she thought maliciously, not especially lenient at the moment.

Sure it wasn't his fault he'd happened to stumble upon the mare's singular path, but with her horrid luck, she felt illy just to vent her rage mentally towards anyone at this point. Mentally, mind you.

For now...

"I did," she responded crisply, tilting her head slightly to the side. "You look a little lost about the path -I assumed everyone knew about it." Her eyes turned towards the split in the mountains, light voice turning all the more wispy with thought as she added vaguely - "The desert, on the other hand, few seem to be aware of. Demons -Kalona and non, are said to reside beyond the mountains. Almost no one goes there because of this, so no one really knows what's out there."

For a moment, she grew silent, contemplating again why it was she was crossing this border to the supposed nightmarish land. An image of her father flickered through her head, and her ears flattened against her skull. Right. That's why.

Returning her attention to him, her eyes widened slightly when she caught the glare. For a moment her ears returned to full height, alarmed and curious to the cause of his sudden hostility. Then they were back against her head and she sneered right on back.

"The hell's your problem?" she snarled, front hoof pawing the earth in a further show of annoyance. Her mind skittered through their encounter so far. Had she done something to offend him..? She's spoken. She'd looked him over quick -just as he'd done her.

Where was the fire? Where was the problem? She decided then his personally must be just as random and annoying as that stupid... thing on his head.

Klei turned back towards the path as the new presence spoke about it. Demons huh... he thought to himself. "I never really paid much attention to the mountains before so I wouldn't have known it was there." Klei responded. A moment went by before he started up again as he turned to face the mare once more. "If everyone hears bad things about it of course no one will go in. Though I still don't see why. Even if it's told that demons are there that shouldn't be the sole reason not to go in." At this point Klei was more curious about what lies behind the gap then what is said to be there. Or even who this mare was.

All things continued as said as he glared at her. Klei, for some reason or another, wasn't in the greatest of moods today so even tiny stupid things got him annoyed. "The hell's my problem?! I can understand speaking and informing me about something you knew or heard but to end it all by staring at me?" Klei really was overreacting since she never really did anything wrong. Just the sudden presence of someone else most likely got him a bit annoyed since he got startled by it.

Her hoof paused mid paw and slammed into the hard soil in a stomp. "Stare at you?" she repeated incredulously. "Why the hell would I stare at you of all things?" She took a step forward, violently throwing her head in the direction of the object on his head. "That thing you're wearing is what caught my eye, not you, you egotistical dolt!" Now while she could not debate that his coloring stood out especially well in this terrain (actually, anything bright on black usually caught her attention, but that was besides the point), the idea of intentionally staring at the stallion himself was suddenly highly offensive.

Perhaps it's just because in the matter of seconds, he succeeded in giving her an almost complete one-eighty in moods. Not an especially easy thing, that.

Snorting, she turned towards the path in question, rolling her pink eyes as she muttered a few choice words about him missing such an obvious landmark like the one before them. "If they're told demons are there, why would anyone go in there?" Ignoring she was therefore being a hypocrite, that is. "Personally, I like that no one wants to go there. Means less to deal with once I reach the other side."

With that she took a few steps in the direction of her goal, pausing after a moment's thought to glance back at him. "Unless you think you're strong enough to fight, or fast enough to run -perhaps cleaver enough to talk your way out-, the concept of demons beyond this point should be enough to keep you to these lands." In spite or in genuine warning, not even Beatrice could say for certain what drove her to say such a thing. Herself, she had enough confidence in her speed and wit to deliver her to safety if the need arrive. "Though I'm sure none of the creatures over there would complain about a free meal should you decide to go anyways."

...yeah, most likely it was spite...

He wont fake it, the sudden slamming of her hoof did startled him a bit. Only jolting his head back a bit from the sudden action Klei responded with a snort. "Why would you? Well that's not something I can answer! I hate to bring it to your attention but the 'THING that you talking about would be considered part of ME! So if you are staring at them you are technically staring at me!" Klei shouted back, with a head thrust of his own.

Klei could obviously see that the mare mumbled something under her breath but what did she mumble? Klei's eyes narrowed as he started at her; ears flattening against his head. "If they were told demons were there then that's all the more reason to go. To see if they are telling the truth or simply playing on a lie." Klei's tone was strict and his emotion unchanged. "You say that you wonder why anyone would go there yet here you are. Standing in front of the opening planning on heading in. Why is that?" He continued raising a brow. To him he'd go to spite the stories others tell. Either that or just because he grew bored and tired of the everyday activities he did.

"You'd be surprised why I'm capable of. Don't doubt me so easily. You should be worrying about yourself before someone else if what you say about there being demons are true." His eyes followed her movements, watching every step she took and muscle flex as she walked. "I can guarantee you that I will not be an easy meal for anyone." With that said he to took a few steps. For the sole point in showing the mare he didn't care what she said. Her words were not going to decide anything for him.

From the start of it all he had never actually planned on entering or going far past the gap. But now the current situation has changed...

A sound of disgust left her scowling maw, finding his interpretation of her words frustrating. Of course, with the way things were going, that wasn't much of a shocker. "Unless that thing is fused to your thick skull it's not you. Your mane is you, your weird markings are you, but not the thing on your head!" Seriously, where did he get his reasoning? A hole in the ground?

Now, usually she really wouldn't care about such trivial matters, and in truth, such hostility was more the Other's style rather than her own. And yet... something about this stallion really hit a nerve. Or perhaps it was the collective bad day and even worse meeting..? Who knew at this point.

His self confidence mixed with rage reminded her of a foal, though in such a snappy fashion she responded nonetheless. "Stories are passed to scare people, to keep them away. My preference is they don't grow bold and wander to the desert. They're annoying enough down here with their superstitions to govern them; I'd hate to see what they'd be like without them." It was true - her whole purpose was to leave those judgmental fools in favor of solitude up north. The last thing she needed was a migration of stupidity.

Beatrice rose a brow towards his question, chuckling bitterly. "Isn't it obvious? I seek solitude. I have no fear of demons, though they're wonderful to clear out annoyances from an area." With a genuinely happy smile she turned her gaze back to the mountains and the proverbial paradise that lay beyond.

Movement out of the corner of her eye made her frown, glancing back as the stallion now stood along side her. Annoying p***k... a shiver of thought came to her then, a particularly nasty and disgusting concept that brought on the famed self-loathing. "Demons don't find sport in mauling kin that otherwise put shame to their kind," she said dryly, a silent growl boiling her blood towards the few recollections of her father who was the source of her curse.

Tossing her head to clear the braid and a few stray locks from her face, she took to continue on, calling back blandly, "Do as you will, boy. But don't say I didn't warn you when you have a demon gnawing on your leg like a two-legger's tooth-pick."

((Oh man I just noticed typos I did in the previous post I did. D; I'm sorry about them. I usually catch them before submitting. ;; ))

Klei snorted at the mare once more. "You know what? It might just BE fused to my head! You don't know that!" It obviously wasn't fused to his head but he felt like just adding to her annoyance. "You're right, all that other stuff is me, and because you just mentioned it it must mean you were obviously staring at me." he added to his previous statement.

Even though this argument would only make today even worse in the end he was enjoying it. It's not everyday you get into a vocal fight with someone. Not when you live away from everyone else that is. And plus, he wasn't taking offense to any of it. It was all going in one ear and out the other.

On another note he did listen to what she had to saw with an open mind before responding. "It takes a lot more then just stories to scare me out of doing something. But even then I'd probably just ignore them anyway." She obviously wasn't caring about the stories in terms of being scared so why should he be expected to?

"Solitude huh? Good Luck with that. Doubt you'll find what you are looking for." Looking back at her as she speaks up again Klei laughed to himself. "You can say whatever you'd like. I seem to be annoying you and there is no harm in that but any past experiences you may be referring your words do are of no concern to me. Biased sentences will be ignored. And you shouldn't worry about me. I do know my own limits." With that said he noticed that the mare started to walk again, "But I dont think that will make me as scared and as frightened as you are probably thinking of.." Klei picked up the pace, only to pass her, and continued on.

Klei spoke up once more, "Oh and by the way, you're better off living under a rock if you want solitude." Klei rose his head upwards and said with a louder tone as he walked along. "You plan to go somewhere people are afraid of to seek solitude but yet you might just find some bold travelers there anyway. You can't find solitude by adventuring into the unknown." With a flick of the tail he lowered his head to it's original spot.
