In the middle of a small town there is a cute cafe with a bar and six tables with purple couches around them. its dark green walls and deep blue shag carpet go well with the black and white spotted ceiling. candle lighting realy sets the mood with the jazz playing from nowere. behind the bar is the freezer door and pantry door along with cabnits and a range top stove and counter with all a kitchen could ever need. a man sits alone at a table in back sipping a cup of black coffe evry so often the watress comes and refills his cup. he seems as if he is waiting on something yet very relaxed.

Across the street, staring through the the slightly frosted window of the cafe a small girl no more the 6 years old dressed in rags, snow clinging to her dark bangs, gazes longingly at the warmth that the room emulates. The bitterness of the weather had already stolen two of the girl's toes and threated her others with it's icy teeth. She felt faint with hunger and cold, death just a stone throw away. Her sister stood in the gap between two small houses begging her little sister to return. The little girl turned, tears running down her cheeks, and fell to the ground eyes closed as if to sleep.
"Wake up Heather, wake up please!" her sister sobbed.

a tall man apears and picks up the girl carrying her to the cafe in a warm blanket saying "its okay now my dear". he stops and turns to the sister and asks "are you not coming little mouse?" he shrugs and walks into the cafe setting her down on a nearby couch.

Walking slowly, torn between fear for her sister and fear of this stranger, the girl makes her way to he cafe door. As she reaches the threshold warmth surrounds her, bathing her in its inviting embrace. With the heat flowing through her colour returns to her pale cheeks as does the fear.
"Heather... are you alright?"

the man walks away from the children and walks into the back room coming back with a young slim woman and two mugs of hot chocolate on her trey and she places them onto the table befor the couch as she asks him some questions in an angry tone to low for the children to hear. he looks stern and says to her "do as i say woman prepare the room." she storms off to the back. the man looks down and asks "whats wrong don't you like hot chocolate my dear?"

"It's not that Sir." She says in a quiet voice while bending her head so that her hair fans to create as small barrier between herself and this seemingly kind man. "It's..." her gaze falls to her sisters still form, tears threatening to overflow from her hazel eyes.

The man looks at the sister and nods as he speaks "she will be fine my dear we will have a doctor come in the morning. now doesn't a nice hot....." the young lady comes back and whispers something in his ear. he has a serious look as he nods, then smiles and continues wile waving her on "drink before you rest sound good, or is it food you would like?" at this the woman sighs and goes into the back

Why is this person helping? Thoughts that were so distrustful spun through her head. Thoughts of the rich children who would throw rocks at her and Heather. Thoughts... thoughts of the men who used to use her mother for their own pleasure and hit her as if she were nothing more than a rag doll. Tears clung to her eye lashes. What does he have to gain from it?
New tears started to form. She couldn't think logically with these thoughts; she couldn't think clearly being so chilled and worried.
She reaches for the hot chocolate drink slowly as if it might come alive and try to bite her. Never taking her eyes off the stranger, she takes a tentative sip of the warm liquid. Her eyes close unconsciously at the pleasure at the warmth slidding through her body, heating to the very tips of her fingers.

the man smiles warmly and states "see now doesn't that make you feel much better?" the woman returns with two bowls of soup and a board with fresh bread. the room is filled with warm and delicious smells. as she places her tray on the table she looks at the man with curiosity and compassion. he returns her gaze with a wink and a action that was too quick for the children to see but he woman's face was red.

At the strangers comment she stares down at the almost empty mug in her hands. She did feel better, she could feel her toes again... was she in a position to escape if things turned bad? No, she thought, she could escape with Heather as she is.
As if her little sister heard her thoughts a small moan escaped her lips. "Ellena, where are you?"
A sob muttered so softly in response "I, I'm here Heather."

the man's attention snapped to the sick child and says "some soup would be good for her" his tone very worried with matching eyes.

Ellena turns to him, the trails that her tears left on her now rosy cheeks start to dry leaving a slight shine mapping they journey, "do you really think so?"
The desperation in her voice so audible. It broke her heart to think she was being so reliant on this stranger with no way to repay his kindness.

he says "yes my dear. you remember how the hot chocolate warmed you to the bone? well it shall do the same for her. and once she is warm we might want to take you both to the spare room for the night." his smile warming his face as if everything was going to be ok

A smile, radiating with such joy and hope, spreads across Ellena's face with the prospect of her sister being well again. She would never be able to forgive herself if anything were to happen to her little sister... she was all the family she had left.
Taking her sisters small hand in her own, gently stroking to sooth the frightened child, Ellena softly whispers "everything's going to be okay now Heather." and starts to quietly hum to her.

the man suddenly scowled out the window growling like an upset dog and he barked "Yazu, we have unexpected guest take the girls to the basement and wait for me" his whole body twitching in fury as he stepped to the door. his aura filling the room with a pain and rage. as a knock on the door came he barked again "YUZA NOW!!!" Yuza picked up Heather and grabbed Ellena's hand. as Ellena looked back she saw the tall man shaking violently wile talking low with two men and a woman. the two men in all black business suits and the woman in a crimson one.
