The Gaioh Gazette
Back, Because absolutely no one demanded it.

The Front Page

Yeah, so I've been gone a while, and as such have been unable to do this thing. For the newbies who don't already know me, I was a big-wig around the guild until I had to move out of state a few months ago, cutting my Gaia time to Zero. (the move went much better than I expected, but I can't say it's any better here than where I was staying before..)
But as I'm back to activity, I figured I'd give the paper another shot. So... "Newspaper no jutsu!"

Gaioh's Clan Tournament Begins!
By Manndar Gorlok.

Manndar Gorlok
Since the dawn of time, mankind has always put foot to a** in order to establish a hierarchy of power. Our village is no exception. After the Ichijin Confrontation, the clan had lost its position of power as the dominant clan of the village. In order to contain any possible bloodshed, it was decided that the newest head clan was decided by vote, but also decided was a tournament, to ease the relations between the clans.

The rules of engagement were simple, each clan was supposed to enlist members of their clan from each rank and fight. With each victory, the clan earns a point. When the tournament ends, the clan with the most points wins the prize, the clan scrolls belonging to each clan, or in seisastsu's case, a powerful scroll of sealing techniques. Since Clan scrolls generally contain the history and secrets of each clan's bloodline, and are fiercely guarded, this is a prize too good to pass up, as it will give the winning clan leverage over its fellows.

The line up for the Ichijin is Kei (jounin), Kitsu (chuunin), and Sheena (gennin). The Akuma enlisted Takayuki (jounin), and Pyroka (gennin). The Ketushai clan has Soul (jounin), Ashura (chuunin), and Harou (gennin). Last but not least, the Super Seisatsu Force is Ketsu (jounin), Sachi (chuunin), and Westly (gennin).

In round one was round robin, therefore everyone fought everyone of their current rank. In an update of the matches, Westly defeated Pyroka and Sheena for an impressive 2 win streak. Sheena defeated Harou in a heated battle.

Thus, as of now, the score is Ichijin one and Seisatsu two. The other clans have yet to put a score on the board.

When asked about his performance, Taka had this to say: "I believe my performance in the Tornument would be much better. I'm not sure why it isn't." Taka also believes that all of the competitors are good ninja, but Kitsu is going to be his hardest challenge. And when it comes down to it in the end, he believes the Seisatsu Clan will come out on top.

Westly was very energetic and had this all to say: "Three matches, three victories. I believe I have conclusively proven that being awesome is far more powerful than being angsty. Take THAT, my entire clan! You know what I'm talking about, Manndar, aka Awesome the Jounin? Because your awesomeness jowned all the other Chuunin? Seriously, my victories could only have been more perfect if I had won my matches with four clones just standing there the entire fight rocking out, with the real me on vocals while KICKING YOUR a**! *audible air guitar riff courtesy of Genjutsu*"

When asked about who he thought would win he said: "Had you asked me when I first walked into this, I would've said smart money on Ketushai and Seisatsu as a close second. That was, of course, before I got our team a 3 point advantage. I think all the other Genin got 1 win each? Sheena because Harou wouldn't hit a girl, Pyroka because Sheena's highly allergic to stupidity, and Harou because he absolutely WOULD hit a guy and, as a matter of fact, is highly skilled in doing just that. So 3 for Seisatsu in the Genin bracket, plus 1 from Sachi to date.... I think Nekage's going to be getting his stuff back."

The tournament is currently underway.

Subforum Spotlight: Newspaper
By Masamune Syaoran

So. Wondering what the heck the Newspaper subforum is for? Well, me too, really..
But I guess I can give you a crash course as to what we do there and why. Only since you asked all nice-like..

The Gaioh Gazette is the guild's very own newsletter, located in the Newspaper subforum, and directed and produced by yours truly and a few of your other fellow Gaioh ninja. We take a look at goings on in the guild and write reports about them, which we post in this newsletter so everyone in Gaioh can stay up to speed. We're no New York Times, but then again, the New York Times is no USA Today.

Firstly, you have the front page. After you get past a header with our title and a slightly funny but mostly pathetic subtitle, you'll notice a paragraph or so of text. This is where I write any important notices or random gibberish I think the readers ought to hear. If the Gazette is gonna be out of service for a while, or if there's something going on that's not covered in an article, you'll find out here first.
Below the Editor's statement is the table of contents. There you'll find a brief list of the issue's articles along with the names of whomever wrote them. The 'pages' are the individual posts in the paper, each with one article. The comics and ads are each grouped together as their own articles when we have two or more of each, rather than have one comic/ad a post and make the paper unneccessarily long.

The second page will contain an article. Usually it's Manndar's article when he writes one, since he's been here longest. (after myself, of course) Manndar is usually tasked with covering Events like the Chuunin/Jounin exams or clan tournaments. He also has a 'Ninja Spotlight' section, in which he will write a report on an individual Member of Gaioh, selected at random. It's great for getting to know the more reserved/dangerous characters like Chaos Beaver or Nekage, whom you wouldn't normally get to interact with.

The rest of the articles are varied, depending on what is happening in the guild. Sometimes a mission or battle comes up that simply MUST be reported on, other times we have features of forum threads we're sponsoring, or Guilds we're getting chummy with. If you have an idea for a new article, pitch it to us in the Main Office thread in the Newspaper subforum. It might just make it into the paper. Er.. not that we're desperate, or anything.. <.<;;

The final article of any paper is Masamune's (my) article. I try to cover out of character goings on, like guild restructures and 'Subforum Spotlight' articles, where I write a summary of the many subforums in the guild, and what goes on in each one. It's worth looking into if you're not sure what to do somewhere, or just haven't figured out why stuff is out of place all of a sudden.

After the articles, There's the comics section. We don't always have a comics section, since we don't always have a comic to put in it. We're always welcoming artistic talent (or even untalented art, if the captions are funny), so feel free to drop us a comic or a funny drawing. At this point we'd probably put up doodles your five year old brother drew...
Uh, again, not that we're desperate.. ^_^;;

The final post is the Advertising section. For a rediculously low fee (we gotta eat, ya know), you can have your banner or text ad displayed in the Gazette. It beats advertising your RP in the OOC. If you're interested, drop by the Advertisements thread in the Newspaper subforum and give us a shout, we'll give you the details and get you set up in no time.

The paper is not done on a monthly basis (the month in the title is for archiving purposes), but rather is put out whenever the hell we get around to it. Some of our volunteers are devotees of the smooth jazz lifestyle at the moment, so we don't get a whole lot of consistent, dependable help, and thus the paper is more often than not delayed. We have therefore done away with deadlines and adopted a "when we feel like it" policy. I think it's actually working out better than the last method, surprisingly.

If you have any suggestions for articles, or have a desire to flex your journalistic muscle a bit (Your brain, fool. I know you went there. -.-;; ), drop by the Newspaper subforum and submit a post detailing your request and/or credentials and/or desired job. Or send a PM to Masamune Syaoran.
All positions are voluntary and there is no obligation to do an article every month if you decide you'd rather listen to smooth jazz.

So, There you have the basis of the Newpaper subforum's purpose, and an open invitation to join us and increase the amount of awesome we can cram into one subforum. I hope this article has been as informative as it was entertaining, and I look forward to seeing you next time, when I'll be covering another subforum.
