Character Name: Jacob Kane (his friends call him Jake)

Status: Scion of Anubis

Side: Aligned with the Pesedjet (and the other gods by extension)

Age: 25

Gender: Male

Ethnicity: Caucasian

Birthplace: Alexandria Minnesota, USA

Calling: Seeker of truth

Job: Private Investigator/Bounty Hunter

Appearance: Six foot three, broad shouldered, and well muscled, Jacob is a physically imposing figure. He keeps his shoulder length black hair neatly trimmed, and typically held back by a simple leather cord. While clean shaven, his five o'clock shadow shows up pretty early in the day. Clear, golden yellow eyes betray his unusual heritage. While Caucasian, he takes a dark tan easily, and despite being a Minnesota native, his skin is a dusky color year round because of it. His once longish nose is now squat from a bad break that was never properly set. How this happened changes with every telling.

Nature: Jacob holds to the law, as it is the foundation of civilization, and what separates man from the beasts of the Titans. Keeping not just to the letter, but to its spirit as well, Jacob's nature is that of the Judge. Of the four virtues held most high by his divine family, he holds to Conviction and Order more than to those of Harmony and Piety.

Birthright(s): Anubis granted to Jacob upon his visitation a blade infused with some of the power of the feather against which souls are weighted. This blade allows Jacob access to the purview of Justice. Besides from this, the blade is wickedly sharp, having the piercing quality. Called the Feather of Ma'at, this is Jacob's primary weapon against the minions of the Titans.

The second gift he received was an armor-like trench coat called the Shroud of Isis. The coat is woven with hieroglyphs on the lapels, and is infused with the powers of Guardian, Health, and Mystery. When Anubis gave this to Jacob, he told his son that he had bargained with Isis for the item, and at some point Jacob will need to return the favor of this gift by assisting one of Isis Scions. While a bit upset about his aid being promised without his consent, Jacob is grateful for the power and protection the unassuming white silk lined brown leather duster has provided for him.

Weapons/Armor: Apart from the Feather and the Shroud, Jacob carries a brace of pistols (an old family tradition). His Peacemakers are of purely mortal make though.

Abilities: A med-school student before his Visitation, Jacob is well versed in medicine. Almost as well versed as he is with his blade. A keen eye for details has blossomed into an ability with investigation as well. However, Jacob knows very little of his divine Egyptian heritage due to his somewhat strict Puritan upbringing.

His connection to the mystical has let him tap into a bit of healing ability, some ability to fortify his companions against damage, the ability to ward locations, and the insight to weight the guilt of any he sees. Heku is the next area he plans to explore. Since the manifestation of his divine Ichor, he's also found himself to be tougher, faster, and of quicker wits then he was when simply a mortal.

Biography: On a lonely night in the dead of winter, while Jacob's mother's husband was far away from home, and she was delirious with fever, Anubis came to her. Wearing the face of her husband, the god lay with her, and she conceived a child. When she awoke the next day, her fever had broke and her husband had arrived home at last from his business trip.

Jacob was raised in a somewhat strict Puritan household in Alexandria Minnesota. While he never lacked for the love and support of his parents, the environment was somewhat stifling for the quick witted young man. However, the man he thinks of as his father insisted on helping him train in the basics of unarmed combat, and taught him to wield pistol and sword. "An old family tradition," his unbeknown step-father would explain.

After high school, he was accepted to Miskatonic University. His education paid for by the Solomon Kane Fellowship, apparently an ancestor of his, he entered the premed program. He had an interest in the more abstract ends of clinical medicine, investigating unusual diseases: their symptoms, causes, and cures. He tries to never miss an episode of House. It was in his second year of grad school that he had his visitation.

Anubis came to him, and told him of his true parentage. He told him of the War that was breaking out not only in the Overworld and Underworld, but in the World of Mortals as well. Anubis asked his son if he had the strength and courage to take up his blade, and bring judgment divine to the enemies of all life. The next day, Jacob dropped out of school, and returned home on his first mission from his divine parent.

Jacobs has had a few set back since then, as well as a few victories. The hardest part has been adjusting to the idea of his true parentage. Not to mention, trying to explain to his mortal parents why he dropped out of a prestigious Ivy League university to become a skip tracer and private eye. It helps that Jacob knows he's doing the right thing. When the war's done, he'll sort out what to tell his parents, and deal with the confusion between his upbringing and his heritage.
