Clan Abilities and Traits

The Unknown Isle housed several Zoombini of every kind and color. The Zoombini who lived on this island ate nothing but a certain type of berry that contained hallucinogenic properties, and changed them irreparably in both physical and psychological ways. They became as brightly colored as the berries they ate, and their sensory organs became mixed and intertwined.

Zoombini from this island are able to taste colors, smell sound, hear flavors, and every other combination of sense. Each person and thing has it's own flavor, texture, sound, smell, and color to them, and they are able to distinguish any one of these traits with any one of their senses.

As such, these Zoombini communicate in color, sound, and rhythm all at once. Their words sound like beautiful but nonsensical music to a normal Zoombini, but their communication is much more in-depth with one another. The sound of another Zoombini's name coming from one of these clan members will taste, smell, and sound completely unique, and the receiving clan Zoombini will feel and see based on the words alone.

The psychic species of these Zoombini can also create physical incantations of these extraordinary skills, due to their powers of physical manipulation. A psychic clan member can create a show of light, color, or sound that even a regular Zoombini can see or appreciate - additionally, they can alter the soundwave frequency that a normal Zoombini receives through their eardrum, allowing that Zoombini to understand the 'words' behind the music and sound that a clan member communicates with. This kind of ability can bridge the communication gap between clan members and regular Zoombini. It is a short, but painful process, much like blowing a foghorn in someone's ear.

The personality of these native Zoombini are usually very frivolous and carefree, partially due to how much sensory overload they are constantly taking in while alive, thusly appreciating everything at once and unable to concentrate or focus, and partially due to the now permanent effects of the substance in the berries they ate. They are much more prone to mischief and childish behavior, which was encouraged in the lifestyle that they lived on their native island. This is more pronounced in clan members who migrated to Zoombini Isle as adults, and less so for those who are infants.

Members of the clan who were born to the island have less of these abilities, and are more prone to rational behavior. Zoombini who are children of one native and one regular Zoombini have the unique ability to speak both their native tongue; which is an ability inherited through bloodlines tainted with the hallucinogenic substance that will always run through their parents veins; as well as regular unaltered conversation, understandable by those who are not of the clan.
