redface
As I proclaim openly hate fangirls of actors, people who like series' just because off the actors in the movies, and people who "claim" actors, characters, and whatnot, I have to ask this.
Does being freakishly obsessed with book series'/the movies that go with them (but mostly the books) make me a fangirl? [I do not condescend to lay claim on any characters, or the actors that play them. (In fact, on the actors subject, I dislike some of them...)] Still, am I a fangirl? Because if I am, please kill me now.

Even rabid book fans don't strike me as fangirls in the least, unless their main comment is, "oh EM geE!1!1 I wunt 2 mary -insert character here-". I could ramble for days on end about how much I love Harry Potter or HDM, and though that would technically mean I'm a fan girl, I wouldn't say that would make me a fangirl. Out of curiosity, which book series and movies are you obsessed with?

biggrin I'm relieved to hear this, because I was thinking about my obsessions, and the fact that it is human nature to be hypocritical, and the horrible realization came to me that I might be a fangirl. But now, after reading your replies, I know I'm not...and...stuff...
Kir: Well, the main one is Harry Potter, but Lord of the Rings is pretty much tied with it. I switch off every so often. For a few months I'll be a Potterhead, and then for another few months I'll be a Tolkienite. Usually I'm both, thouhg! xd I also REALLY like the Vampire Chronicles and His Dark Materials, but I haven't reached obsession status with those...yet...

I know some people aren't too hot on HP, but I really enjoy reading the books (the movies, on the other hand, can burn in hell along with miss Emma Twatson). I've already ordered my copy of Book 6. XD How pathetic is that? I'm re-reading The Lord of The Rings trilogy, and greatly enjoying it. ^_^ Where I've read to, the company is just now in Lothlorien.

I just don't have enough money to order HBP yet! crying Or I would have A. S. A. P.!

My obsessions will switch between four every few weeks- Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter (definately the books), Heralds of Valdemar, and Lost. I don't consider myself a raving fangirl, though, even if I have "crushes" on some of the characters (ie, I've loved Merry since my dad read me the book when I was six). I guess it wouldn't really work to be a raving fangirl, since three of those I love as books. sweatdrop

Then I read the books (some of them) and, since I am a creepy person who falls head over heels for book characters, I loved him! biggrin

StarlitJasmyn Ok, how creepy is that. I'm re-reading the Lord of the Rings also, and I'm just up to the Lothlorien part. Right now the Mirror of Galadriel part is just about to start. Weird. o_o I'm now reading TTT, and Sam, Frodo, and Smeagol have just gotten through the marshes. Quote: And AGREED about the movies. I just don't have enough money to order HBP yet! crying Or I would have A. S. A. P.! That's too bad. ;_; Now I'm concerned about having ordered it so early... I have it set to be shipped to the address of my apartment, but next week I'm going to a job fair to check out getting a counsellor position at a summer camp. That means it would arrive here and I would be long gone, and then the post office would keep it because I didn't pick it up. gonk Oh well... I'm probably getting ahead of myself. It's not like I have a job yet.
