-about Shuki-

On the desk lies a journal. As you flick through the pages, you notice a trend towards despair as Shuki fights off growing depression and frustration over her life. If you read back to the beginning, you'll find fragments of her life. Inside the front cover, there's a quick bio.

Name: Shuki Kurai Musume Quickjewel
Age: Eternally 18
Gender: Female
Height: 163cm
Blood Type: Whatever you're offering...
Species...: Vampire, but tell anyone and I'll have to kill you.

-experiment reports and related information-

Jan.23 - I've chosen my ingredients. Due to the public nature of my reports, I will not list them here... they shall remain a secret until I begin the summoning.

Jan.22 - Karolina is helping me out so much with this stuff because I'm really lost in all this occult-ness (ironic for a vampire, ne?). We've decided to infuse the representations for each of the elements with another element. So far we've decided that the item for Spirit shall be placed on the point of the pentagram that represents Air, and the item for Water will be on Fire. We still need to work out Fire, Air, and Earth though. Her notes on Water were missing, so we need to find them and work on them later. The pentagram will be inversed for my summoning.

Jan.15 - I have chosen to use black candles for the summoning.

These are Shuki's dearest and most loyal friends. They have all been collected over the past year, but her most cherished of all these friends is Sakaiya, an elder Faytian whose photo lies second from the right in the second row.

-notes-

1 - '... the world of Dredgubotch was thrown into a suffering chaos'... could this imply that perhaps before the war, Dredgubotch was actually a part of Earth? '...followers both human and Kalohl...' Perhaps this is a form of proof.

2 - '... the divine...' Indicative of a good power... beings of Heaven. 'A single angel... Jonas...' Jonas = fallen angel... Jonas in alliance with Athiz? Therefore Athiz didn't consider Jonas to be a threat to his power.

3 - 8 armies in total fought against the Forgotten, only the one lead by Jonas and Athiz obtained victory... Athiz obtained control over the 5th alter existence and handed control to Jonas... Jonas = essentially good, but fought with the Kalohl to help defeat the Forgotten :. Aliance got him expelled from Heaven... How does Jonas manage to hold power in the 5th? Unless Athiz is really the ruler... holding the real power with Jonas as a figurehead, protected by Athiz's friendship.

4 - '...using any failed results to further their cause as soldiers in their coming war.' Failed results? We know that fusing has some possibly crappy outcomes, but why would a Kalohl with apparent mental retardation further their cause? As proof of weakness that justifies innihilation of all existence?

5 - 'They proposed a sealing of the Forgotten, and were welcomed by the seven Halusios...' Jonas was NOT a Halusios at the time of the War... The Kalohl must have been desperate to accept his help, by why was Athiz, who is described as 'the most feared and ruthless' of the Halusios, open to suggestions by an angel?

6 - '... Kalohl general...' '... Athiz took the title within the seventh existence...' 'Athiz, the Halusios of the seventh alter existence...'. Is there a chance that Athiz himself is a fallen angel? Although it isn't mentioned, it would explain his acceptance of help from Jonas... or did he simply accept the help because he predicted that if he could orchestrate the downfall of the Forgotten, he would be able to rule the 7th unchallenged? If so, wouldn't he want to silence the angel that was present in his domain, or make Jonas his general? Why let him have the 5th... unless they were friends.

7 - 'The seven Halusios then gathered and took the lives of their remaining servants to begin their own spells and rituals, which in turn ended their lives with the final whispered words.' Ok... Athiz was a general... in the 7th? So why didn't his Lord take his life?

- 'They had cast out Jonas for joining with the demons, calling him a fallen among his people, as well as any who had followed after him.' ----> Ok... this just confirms previous notes.

- The "inverted pentagram" is the five-pointed star with one point down... It adds that "the pentagram is the most powerful of all Occultic talismans... It is alleged that it is more powerful than the Cross... " We are told that the inverted pentagram is "a sign for evil."

- Here are five elements, four of matter (earth, air, fire and water) and THE quintessential - spirit. These may be arrayed around the pentagrams points. The word quintessential derives from this fifth element - the spirit. Tracing a path around the pentagram, the elements are placed in order of density - spirit (or aether). fire, air, water, earth. Earth and fire are basal, fixed; air and water are free, flowing.

The single point upwards signifies the spirit ruling matter (mind ruling limbs); is a symbol of rightness. With two points up and one (spirit) downwards, subservient, the emphasis is on the carnal nature of Man.

1 - The ingredients are Pouch of fur, Vial of red blood, Vial of black blood, Bag of sand, Sulfur, Ash, Water, Bone, Mushrooms, Mandrake root, Rose petals, Jar of iron shavings, bag of rocks... so... for a good summon, do each of the elements need to be addressed? Such as the bag of sand to represent earth, ash for fire, water for water, perhaps the pouch of fur, or the blood to represent spirit, and then sulphur for air?

- Rose petals = use in love, torture and breaking of hearts.

- Sulphur = black spells as is black blood

The First Alter Existence

- Money is the ruling factor in the First
- Investigate into Draab and Iption...
- Greed = main mark of sin
- Related to the Third
- Rampant slave trade
- Black rain...?
- Weapons trade

The Second Alter Existence

- Death
- Glutton marked prominant
- Eat or be eaten
- Distinctly weak -> consider denizens of the Third to be gods
- Tribal nature... savage type?

The Third Alter Existence

- Constant warring
- Three separate Halusios, constantly dying and being replaced
- Buyers of slaves from the First, cause of the bodies in the Second... provide gain for those two Existences?
- No loyalty to a leader
- Possible to by-pass?

The Fourth Alter Existence

- Paranoid.

The Fifth Alter Existence

- Other fallen angels trying to rebuild home to no avail
- Jonas looks upon the fallen angels with scorn
- Jonas = bound by Pride... marked by the angels?
- Investigate Ssayi and Donnor.
- Interference by Naiya and Athiz
- Jonas under protection of the Sixth and Seventh
- Possible summon = fallen angel

The Sixth Alter Existence

- Lust, Gluttony, Sloth
- Book written by Iption? But Iption came from the first...
- Investigate Hieyana and Riely
- Naiya seduces away any threats to her rule
- Backed by Jonas and Athiz... could they have succumb to her charms?

The Seventh Alter Existence

- Fusing Chamber
- Arena - population and threat control by death in the Arena... secures Athiz' power
- Investigate Kira and Dusk... Kira seemed approachable that night in the bar... perhaps she's they key.
- The seal to the Forgotten (with Athiz watching, there's no way that creepy Fox girl can break it!)

Kalohl Affinity

- Scroll dictates the items chosen? Perhaps my items won't work with the scroll I buy...
- Pentagram = the Gate
- Using more than one of an item will draw a Kalohl close to that item... perhaps buy extras of certain items. Discuss with Karolina.
- Possible to summon precisely... with the right scroll. Higher price?
- Summoner's skill will dictate outcome, so PRACTISE PRACTISE PRACTISE.

The Mark's Burden

- Curse
- Limit of powers
- Gems to allow certain abilities, overcoming the curse temporarily
- Limit of 3 gems as standards, HOWEVER... possible to have more than three gems if two Kalohl are fused.
- Gems have side-effects

Tapping her finger to the tiny door lock, it springs open and Shuki walks in. Smiling at the undisturbed state of her room, she flings her bag onto the desk, carefully placing the books beside it. There was something refreshing about being out of the stuffy education centre, so she feels revived and sets about clearing all the junk off her bed. Once this is achieved, she drags her study materials across to it and sprawls herself across the bed, pulling the book of consequences open. She grabs a packet of pringles from the cupboard beside her bed and starts munching on them as she reads and takes notes.

Tired of the absence of sound in the room, she gestures vaguely and loud music blares from some unknown source. The music would not be heard outside of her room, unless someone should open her door, and it would certainly help her concentration. She nods her head, humming softly and her hand flies across the notebook, the pages filling up quickly as she reaches the end of the book of consequences. When she finally closes it, she feels somewhat relieved to have reached the end of such a morbid and horrifying book, although it did drive home the importance of learning everything thoroughly before attempting a summons.

The next book is all about the Mark of Sin, something which Shuki is highly curious about, so she opens it eagerly, grabbing a new notebook to begin take notes in. She remembers that the two Kalohl summoned thus far were marked with Lust, and Wrath, respectively, which leads her to wonder about what determined those particular marks, whether it was perhaps traits taken from the summoner, or if they posessed the mark before they were summoned. With this in mind, she flips to the first chapter and starts taking notes.

Trying to stop herself from chewing on her stick as she reads, Shuki shoves another couple of pringles in her mouth, avoiding getting crumbs all over the beautiful quilt on her bed, or the books, which were only on loan, even though she didn't ask permission to take them. Hoping that it would be ok with Vem that she borrowed the books, she reads on, wondering if the book would reveal what exactly the Kalohl were. She harboured a sneaking suspicion that the only reason that the Kalohl were stuck in Dredgubotch was that they had done something particularly evil to land them there in the first place. If the books were to be believed, then Dredgubotch was simply a version of Hell, so the Mark of Sin might possibly be what they had done in a past life, or perhaps the present, which forced a higher power to condemn them to Dredgubotch.

She starts to wondering if studying in her room is really a good idea, as she find herself distracted by the scent of burning incense that fills her room. Anything had to be better than staying down in that room though, so she ploughs on, scanning the pages for any tiny bit of information that would stand out. Shuki starts feeling bored with the book and puts it down, shuffling through the pile for the final book, which was dedicated to the summoning itself. As she begins to flick through the pages, it becomes painfully obvious that without reading the previous 3 books that she'd skipped, she would never understand the long and complicated process involved in calling forth a Kalohl.

She picks up the book relating to the Mark of Sin again and turns to the page that she was up to before she had put it down. Flicking through a few pages, she finds a section devoted to the various marks, starting with Wrath. Shuki grins to herself and starts scribbling down notes, relating to the Mark that had condemned Dusk. A fast-paced dance song with a heavy beat starts to play and Shuki's heart begins to beat in time to it, her blood pounding in her ears as her foot taps along and her notes start to be written in time with the song. Her head bounces to the music and she starts writing and reading faster, going through the pages at a rapid pace.
PostPosted: Sun Jan 16, 2005 1:24 am

The song changes to a slower one and Shuki's pace goes back to normal. She had finished the large section on Wrath and had moved onto Lust, determined to learn more about the two creatures that had already been summoned, hoping that an understanding in regards to Dusk and Kira would give a clearer understanding of how the Kalohl worked and what her own summoning would be like. As she scribbles the notes on the mark of Lust, she giggles to herself, wondering if all this meant that Koko was really a sort of nymphomaniac, a side of her friend she certainly hadn't detected, aside from the occasional pervy sketch, and if that was true, was Darbince really a megalomaniac or something? Shaking her head, she didn't think that that was the case, which leads her back to the idea that the Kalohl either picks up on any evidence of that trait that might be present during the summoning, or that they were in Dredgubotch because they had acted in a way that was most evil, in the form of whatever the mark was. The thoughts make her head spin and she reaches for her bottle, swallowing three large mouthfuls before returning to her studies.

Packing up the books and a couple of notebooks, Shuki leaves her room, placing the special lock on again, placing a note on her door saying that she'd be in the Courtyard if anyone needed her.
