I just finished it today, still hasn't officially come out here in Australia, but I understand you yanks have had it for a while.
So what did people think? Personally I thought it lacked. I keep wondering how he managed to make it so long, barely anything really happens in it and there's almost no character development to speak of. I dunno, maybe it'll be better the second time, I hope so, but apart from the Where's My Cow parts it was definitely the worst watch book.

I'm incredibly sad about that.

It's the picture book Vimes reads to Young Sam, and literally all the best moments in Thud! stem from it.
They also actually released a Where's My Cow picture book, not like The Last Hero, and actual kids one, but it's about Vimes reading to his son, rather than the story about the cow.

the downside of being such a freaking prolific author? he's been able to crank out a book a year and stll have them be quite good, but nobody can keep that pace up forever.
* has not read it as she doesn't have the monies to go buy brand new 30$ hardbacks*

"Where's my cow?
Is that my cow?
No! it's a hippo!

Where's my cow?"

i'll probably finish it at the bookstore tommorrow. so far it's decent because it's pratchett, but coming after night watch and going postal, it's kinda.. meh.

Please don't do that here. Even if the guild is in it's last spasmic death throws we still only want meaningful posts.

I enjoyed the book because I like the Watch, but thats as far as it goes. The story felt too similar to other ones (Vimes has to stop two sides fighting before a major war breaks out) so it didn't feel very original, which is one of my favourite things about the Discworld series.

Where's My Cow is going to be one of the first books I'm gonna read to my child (whenever I get around to having one, that is).

I liked it. It was original and helps people understand what went on in the infamous Koom Valley... I think that that was integral to understanding Diskworld

Yeah, it's a nice little piece of Discworld history.

I enjoyed it mostly because of the history. We finally find out some details about Kloom Valley and what happened there. I thought it was also a nice touch to introduce Mr Shine, and explain the differences between the different Trolls and Dwarves.

While the book was sort of lacking in some parts (it did seem as though I had read it before).

I've seen the book "Where's My Cow," but I haven't read it yet. I know my sister has a copy of it for her kids. I'll need to see about borrowing it.
