So I was thinking: everyone seems to have some kind of story or meaning behind their online name. It would be cool if we all swapped stories of the origin of our beloved gamertags/handles/alternate identities.

For instance, I was writing a piece of creative fiction for an 8th grade English class many ages ago, and I was basing it off of a certain video game (I won't say which, since I am waiting for someone to find out on their own). There was a tertiary character in this game named Arvis who did not have a last name. However, since all the other main characters had last names, I needed to invent one for this character in order to maintain verisimilitude. I came up with alot of crappy ones, but eventually worked out "Jaggamar", of which I was very proud. Ever since, I have used the name Arvis Jaggamar in all my video game related business.

I'll join in!

I have always gone by my middle name, but as legal necessities for work and whatnot come up, more and more people learned my first name, which is Dawes. When I started working at Gamestop, someone made the connection from Dawes to Jaws (nice rhyme), and the "e" was added to make a small uniqueness. That stuck for team building stuff/meetings/silly crap that got everyone nicknames until the name SuperJawes was coined, and once I got XBL, it was a solid gamertag/identity that no one had taken (probably because of the "e"). Just to make sure that I had COMPLETE uniqueness, I added numbers (as most screen names have), and my favorite band is Rush, who has an album titled 2112, and the name SuperJawes2112 was complete.

Unfortunately, I got phished earlier this year, so my SuperJawes2112 account here has been inactive to protect myself. Jawes is still a staple of my unique identity, which is how I ended up with the "Mr. Jawes" variation.

Baron Von Daxel

I like Kingdom Hearts.

I'm kind of a fire person my self, towards Axel, but to save myself of actually calling myself Axelsomethingsomethingwhatnotrandomnumbers, I mixed Axel with Daxter, added man to the end, and shabam, Daxelman was born.

Of course, Daxelman, Mr Daxel, and Sir Daxel are long gone, but as you can see, I still manage to keep "Daxel" in my name.

It's also not very common, so it makes it easy to sign up for stuff. 3nodding

Rewrind to a simpler time, where I was engrossed in Megaman Battle Network 4. (these games ae just like the internet- addictive but of no caloric value) In my ponderings of what could make the game batter in the next, I envisioned a new playable character that was an athropomorphic cat in a suit and fedora, whose attacks would increase in power to beats in the game's theme. I called it Tangocat. Imagine my surprise when I learned that there was already a Megaman cat robot from previous games with the name "Tango".
Currently, "Tangocats" is an idea for an origional rythm/action mmorpg game design. If it goes well, I'd like to completely revolutionize music downloads by creating an express lane from artists to a music game. I'd also really hope to have a very robust starting selection of songs that ccome with the game, including classic game music and remixes and even songs written for operas. Oh, yeah. Everyone starts out in the game as a nekomimi in a tux and a fedora. Imagine that. The ears stay.

In middle school my group of friends and I were all gamers and had a massive soft spot for the FF series. Each of us got a nickname from the games: Lulu, Zell, Selphie, etc. Granted, it took a while us to figure out which character suited who, but we never figured one out for me. By the middle of 8th grade we discovered this site that translated Al Bhed to English and vise versa. So we had a LOT of fun with it, even memorized the alphabet so we could write notes to each other in it. Then we started translating our names to Al Bhed, and mine was actually pronouncable. It was even kinda catchy, so "Sakyh" stuck and I've been it ever since.

I'm crazy about History so I named myself HistoryWak. It was going to be Historywhack (meaning I'm a whack about history) but I thought HistoryWak looked better. I created it the summer going into my freshman year (Summer 2002) and it's been a common one I've used ever since.

I thought of my username when I was in the Ravenholm chapter in Half-Life 2. I think that explains it all quite well. ><

wikipedia'd
Arvis — the Returner sympathizer living in Narshe. In the Japanese versions of the game, his name is Jun (ジュン, Jun?). He finds Terra after her encounter with an Esper, Valigarmanda (Tritoch in previous versions), in the mines and nurses her back to health. After removing the Slave Crown from her, he tries to help her escape the city before the Narshe guards find her. When Banon arrives in Narshe, Arvis assists his attempts to persuade the citizens of Narshe to join the returners. He is not seen again after the events on the Floating Continent, though the game never states his fate.

I really like card games, and the Ace of Spades was always my favorite card. I wanted to do something "Ace of Spades" related with my username, but I think it was taken. So I adopted "Ace" for my name.

Seeing as how it was kinda on the short side, it needed another word.

After much thinking, "Paladin" popped into my head. I guess it's from video game-related s**t being hardwired into my sub-concious/psyche. xD

When put together "Ace Paladin" had a kinda cool little ring to it.

So it became my username. : D

Jack Spades: Ace Paladin

Just a thought process to reincorporate the card...albeit a little cheezy.

I was waiting for this one.

If I haven't mentioned it before, I'll mention it now: I'm Italian and Jamaican, therefore I'm black and white. For the first time in my life, I was called "gray" a couple years ago, and it stuck in my mind. I kinda liked it. Until the same kid called me "whack". That pissed me off.

Also, I had created a long time ago an account called Legends-Never-Die (not referring to my old screen name) that was originally meant to be my mule, but I felt like messing around with ya'll people by being a Ps3 fanboy and a real douche. More than I am now. So Legends also stuck in my mind.

The Gray Legend. biggrin
