Formal remarks that Barack Obama will be the next President of the United States!
More importantly, all of the 18+ members should have voted unless they have a LEGITIMATE reason not to. It may appear to be a landslide, but it took INDIVIDUAL votes to make it happen.

I took part in early voting, and am pleased and excited to say that I voted for Obama.
Landslide victories like this are almost unheard of, this only shows the American people's desire and willingness for progress.

AMEN And for anyone who thinks that this is a BAD choice, remember that if we look back in four years and you are CORRECT, you will have the chance to say "I told you so" and elect an entirely new government. Everything has been stirred up, mixed around, dumped out and thrown back in. We look ahead to a new, brighter future.

It's not so much that just a democrat was elected, but a real progressive was elected.
I mean, Clinton, or any other of the Democrat candidates I don't think would have inspired this much hope, not just here in the US, but across the world.
Obama had a crowd of over 100,000 people in Grant Park waiting for him to give a victory speech. That's well over 9,000 ! blaugh
I may be a true believer here, but I see nothing but good things coming out of this presidency.

Kind of sad that gays got their right to marry eliminated.
Bastards.

@ Kaiba (for lack of quotation ability): I really feel with you there...sort of. I think that it will spur a movement to get the REAL solution implemented, but it really is a step back on the same day that was such a step forward emo
Anywho, just so I am clear on "the real solution", I believe that marriage is a construct of the church, and no one other than the church should have a right to say who can marry and who cannot. The entire marriage license system is complete BS. What it SHOULD BE, is a system where couples that get "married" can also apply for the civil union part, which would be the package of medical decisions, rights to property, children, etc. This is particularly likable because it is not limited to romantic couples, but if a pair of older women who never got married are living together, they can apply for a union so that it is clear who has the right to make medical decisions and whatnot.

I voted for Obama.
But yea, it's pretty sad but the Gov and the Courts can overrule this though.
There is hope for California.

Well, I'm not afraid to say that I greatly dislike both candidates, especially Obama for his gun policy. And yet, I find a way to move on.Everyone vote for Ron Paul in four years.

@ marriage topic: Marriage has been around a long longer than Christianity... Either way, I feel the current institution for marriage has become fundamentally flawed.
If these people were really wanting to "protect" marriage, they'd ban divorce.
