idk if any of you have to go through this but i live in Chicago and am constantly discriminated against for them. i gave myself these piercings because my family's tribe used to do it back in honoka, it connects me to my family's past, my great grandfather had them and so do i why should i be looked at diffirnet for that?

Ehhh....i get a lot of stares since i live in Georgia, tattoos and piercings are so looked down on from the Southern Baptist point of view.

And im sure people judge me when they see me, but i dont really care =/

I haven't had any discrimination as of yet and I have had my tattoos for 4 years now and I am a Christian and go to and work at a Baptist Church. So, I know I have been blessed and now that I have posted this will probably have an incident! blaugh Oh, it doesn't matter to me, if people like them great, if not, oh well, the tattoos are on my body not theirs and I love them and plan on more! biggrin

I'm not religious, I don't go to church, no-one really cares about my piercings or tattoos round here (or if they do I haven't noticed!) the main thing I get looks and comments for is my son, if I'm walking to my parents house or going into town and I'm pushing him in his pram then I get dirty looks and once I had abuse from a guy about being a teenage single mum and a drain on society (Im 24 so not a teenager and I live with my fella lol) and if I go out shopping with my fella and our baby then we get dirty looks and comments because as he's not at work we're obviously on benefits. He works a 60 hour week to afford to keep a roof over our heads and food on our table and I cherish any time we get together as its so rare, so to have to put up with comments like that is very hurtful. A lot of people look at my hand, see my engagement ring and then give my little guy a filthy look which is equally as painful, he's only 3 months old, why look at him like that? Yes I'm unmarried but he was an accident, my partner and I hadn't even been dating very long when I fell pregnant but here we are a year and a baby later and we're engaged, with the intent to get married hopefully next year, which is more than can be said for a lot of young couples around here. I looked at my son just now as he's in his bouncy seat next to me and he's currently trying to fit his entire fist in his mouth and when I look at him I feel an overpowering sense of pride and adoration. Surely the fact that I love my son and would protect him with all my power means so much more than having a ring on my finger when I screwed my other half?

Any place I been to on the west side of the states no one ever seems to care. So it work out cause I tend to be an excitable fellow in bad ways and good ways

all my tattoos and piercings are under my clothes so i can't really say a lot about it...

i DO however feel that people are discriminated against for facial piercings and that's why I'm not getting any until after i get a good job

You don't see many tattooed up chicks around my area of Upstate NY since most workplaces here don't allow it... same with odd hair colors. I'm the odd one out, but it's okay. I get funny looks sometimes, but I don't care. I feel sexy and sassy in my inked skin and dyed blue and black hair. I think people should seriously loosen up a little bit (aka a lot). Just because it's not seen often, doesn't mean that the individual is into drinking and drugs and won't be a hard worker. If anything, I try working harder to prove them all wrong.
