Mana giggled as the sparks died away, illuminating the male hellhound's purple coat before vanishing... like magic.

Mana scampered around his cave, once again dragging his stick against the purple walls. Sparks lit the air before falling gently to the ground.

The childish hound grinned and began singing nonsense words. The gibberish set a nice backdrop for the 'magic' occuring in the cavern.

However, the hound didn't realize how loud his little song had gotten... and little did he know that he'd attracted attention from the Oblivion beyond his cave...

Mana wasn't the only one singing. Kyrie's voice was raised in a reedy, yet hopeful hymn. "Ele-i-son. Christe Eleison..." he sang softly. He looked at the sky. It had been a long day, and he felt all he could do was sing to his God. His family didn't understand the words. he didn't know anyone who understood the words but him, and it was comforting in a way he felt it shouldn't have been. It was greedy of him to want God's attention to himself.

"Kyrie Ele-i-s- suh?" He looked around. Something was wrong. Some other notes rang harshly with his own. He blinked, cheeks burning with embarrassment. Had anyone heard him singing? He looked around and saw a cave where the music appeared to be coming from. Stepping hesitantly towards it, he peered inside. "Hello?"

Mana froze in the midst of his tune and stood stock still, staring toward the entrance. The head of another hound had appeared, and the bewildered looking male was now staring at Mana.

"Hiya!" Mana yipped with pleasure. He scampered over to the entrance and tackled the strange hound in excitement. "Who are you?! Where'd you come from?! I'm so excited to see you! It's been AGES since I made a new friend!"

Kyrie blinked at the onslaught of friendliness. The pup seemed to be an innocent young thing. His face relaxed into his easy smile. It was nice to see someone like that in this land of demons. "Hello!" he said cheerfully. "My name is Kyrie. I'm from... My parents, I suppose." He grinned. "It's good to see you too, whomever you may be." He looked at the young thing. "Who ARE you, friend?"

It seemed God or luck or something had sent him some pleasant company. Every day brought something wonderful, he supposed.

"Carrie?" Mana frowned and tipped his head to the side in confusion, "well, I thought that was a girl's name... But whatever floats your boat! I'm Mana!!!"

The naive hound thought about Kyrie's response for a moment, then realized he was curious about sosmething.

"Hey, Carrie?" the childish hound asked, "where do parents get babies from?"

((Bwahahaha! twisted I'm so evil. But I do recommend you do something like 'the stork!'. lol. Also, whenever I rp Mana, I'm so tempted to use smilies. 4laugh ))

"Kee-rie." Kyrie corrected. "Like Kyrie Eleison. It's a pleasure to meet you, Mana."The next question caught him off guard. Kyrie knew plenty of answers to that query, and he chose a child appropriate one to fit the situation. "Well..." he said, thoughtfully. "A lot of people believe they're sent from the gods they believe in. But I don't believe in the same god as my parents... So we have different stories about who sent me, depending on who you ask." He smiled. He certainly knew that the gods his parents believed in EXISTED, great noisy, roaring things they were. The god he chose to put his faith in, though, was very different indeed.

"Kee-rie... Ee-Lye-Son???" Mana pronounced the word carefully, "who's that? And, and who sent me? I don't know if my parents believed in any gods... I don't think they did, but I don't remember them vey well... I'm not sure I believe in gods either... Kee-rie? If I don't believe in gods, where did I come from?" the childish adult looked up at the other hound innocently. He really didn't remember his parents at all... He'd left them such a long time ago...

Kyrie looked thoughtful. "It depends on who you ask, I suppose. I believe in God, so I would say you were created by Him to make the lives of others happier. But if you asked someone else, they would probably say something different." Kyrie had a careful approach to religion. Living in a world where hardly anyone believed in his god he tended to sidle up to the topic in conversations and scooch gingerly around it. Less hellfire and damnation, more cautious acknowledgment "I guess...If you don't believe in gods, you have to find out what you believe in for yourself." he said. "Everyone believes something about life, even if it's just that they believe there will be a tomorrow and there was a yesterday."

Mana contemplated this for a moment, cocking his head to one side as he thought, his tail swishing absently.

"But... Of course there's a tomorrow and a yesterday," he gave a small smile of confusion, "why would someone not believe that?"

Suddenly he perked up. He had an idea. It was a pleasant idea; one that made him do a little dance of joy.

"Hey Kee-rie!" he exclaimed happily, "Do you want to see some magic?!"
