I'm trying to bring the Guild to life so don't get mad at me please!
So, I'm sure everyone has noticed a few similarities between Harry Potter and the Mortal Instruments. Do you think the books should have been more original? Did you like the similarities? Were there too many? Did the awesomeness of the things different overrule the similarities? Which books did you like better? And why?
Similarities I noticed:
Valentine and Voldemort-
1. Both start with V
2. Both faked there own death
3. Both evil (duh)
4. Both related to the person they fight against (Valentine and Jace, Voldemort and Harry. Though I don't think Jace is really Valentine's son)
5. Trying to make it clear they are the superior race (though that's pretty common for alot of books)
6. Want to take down the government (that was more Val's thing, but Voldy definatly wanted the government to go down too)
Well, I can't think of anything else at this very moment so help me out.
In my opinion they were similar, but also very different and I liked the Mortal Instruments better because they aren't quite as predictable and they were more suspenseful which is something I like. Not that Rowling isn't amazing, her books just didn't catch me as fast as Clare's. I was in the Third or Fourth book before I decided they were abosutly awesome. heart
