Landmarks and Landscapes

The continent of Tangere La Dueses is massive - roughly the size of Europe, Asia, and Africa put together. It is also the only known continent on the planet. Tangere La Dueses is surrounded by the violent and destructive
Mar'igna Ocean, which is calm and tranquil until about eight hundred miles out, where immediately it becomes treacherous and completely uncrossable. Small islands and tranquil beaches are scattered throughout the calmer waters closer to the continent, but no one knows what lies beyond the stormy seas that forever loom around the lush land.
The Layout
Working from West to East, North to South, the important landmarks and landscapes will be listed below. More can and probably will be added in time as the story progresses and the land becomes more defined.
Sirand Valley:Volcanic Passage:Kiptin Bay:The Hollowed Reintaka Mountain Island:Nzavil Caves:
This system of caverns is home to the Cavern Lycanthrope... and not much else. Being on the edge of the northern coast means freezing temperatures, and since the caves are right next to the Suunshiin Mountains, all other creatures with some form of common sense shy away from the Nzavil Caves. The only known creatures that share the caverns are stone ogres, rock beasts, and some forms of salamanders and snakes. The system is huge, stretching across nearly the entire northern coast west to the Suunshiin Mountains, and they are constructed like a never-ending maze. Those who venture in - if not accompanied by a Cavern Lycanthrope - rarely come out.
Suunshiin Mountains:
Located right on the edge of the northern coast a little to the west of the Elder Stronghold, the Suunshiin Mountains are home to the shunned and hated Crus'nik, who live in isolation due the impassable mountain ranges and fierce off-shore winds. Though beautiful to look at, there is always a sense of dread and helplessness that drifts upon the freezing wind.
Kachak River:
Huge and mighty, the largest river in Tangere La Dueses is what supplies the entire western part of the continent with water, its source located deep in the Suunshiin Mountains. It pans off into endless smaller rivers and streams, supplying over half of the landmass. The Kachak River's largest outlet is Kiptin Bay, on the southern coast. Only one bridge barely manages to cross the Kachak's huge bulk, and that is close to the south, south of Mercury City. That bridge is known simply as
Colossal due to its huge girth, both beneath the water and on the surface. Though the width of the river might lessen, the depth is always impossibly deep. Due to the many casualties and the sheer cost of bridging the river, it was decided that the
Colossal would be the only one of its kind, and the river would remain uncontrolled.
Mercury City:Roglench Plains:
The massive grasslands sweep along the second and largest peninsula of the southern coast, the
Bogatak Peninsula: the stretch of continent that reaches closest to the Hollowed Reintaka Mountain Island. Reaching all the way down towards the Corada Temples, the Roglench Plains are home to both the Rogue Vampires and Earth Dragons, though one lives above and one lives below ground. These plains have two seasons: dusty, and drenched.
The Corada Temples:Cordalisk Ice Plains:Elder Stronghold:
Set in the center of the island's width, but considerably nearer to the northern coast, the Elder Stronghold is treated with both awe and fear by those who inhabit the land beneath it, as it seems to loom above, built high up into the air to where only creatures that have the gift of flight can seem to access it. The place it inhabits is full of dark, gruesome-looking creatures, and it seems to rain constantly in the castle's general vicinity.
Calabaster Temple:Cheshreer Desert:Ganhanah Air Base:Mt. Akansta:
The tallest mountain on the continent is nearly 23 miles high - helping create the border that separates the Ladekahn Plains from the rest of the continent. A large majority of it is covered in snow all year round, and the summit is always shrouded in white clouds. This seclusion is the reason why it's rumored that the White Phoenix thrive here, and house the only Red Phoenix on the planet. It is also rumored that Mt. Akansta is not merely a mountain, but a volcano.
Apagate Forest:
Stretching down to cover the two peninsulas next to the Ribrey Peninsula - the two known as the
Twin Peninsulas - the Apagate Forest stretches from the lower western border of the Barast Mountain Range to completely cover the Twin Peninsulas, right up to the shoreline. The Apagate Forest is abundant in life - both of fauna and flora - and the bases of many medicines were found in the large spans of land. It is illegal to cut down the trees of the Apagate Forest, namely because the trees possess magical properties that have a knack to bring Karma - vicious, vicious Karma - onto the heads of those who attempt to do so. The forest is alive - in more ways than one.
Nyiini River, Ribrey Valley System, Barast Mountain Range:
The Barast Mountain Range is the largest collection of mountains on the continent - stretching for over hundreds of thousands of miles, and a large amount completely uncrossable. The only way through the mountains is the valley system that cuts through the middle of the range, with help of the mighty
Nyiini River. The massive range stretches from the southern part of the plains at the far northeastern part of the country to the eastern-most peninsula on the southern coast, the
Ribrey Peninsula. Only by traveling by river can you reach the rocky eastern coastline. A huge waterfall drops into the sea, marking the end of the
Nyiini and making the river completely inaccessible by ocean.
The Ribrey Valley System is is what cuts between the two parts of the Barast Mountain Range, carved by the huge Nyiini River. Though there is an abundance of resources, they are unreachable by a large amount of the continent's populace. Only those who can fly or swim can move in and out of the valley system - both means have their lists of difficulties. Only those who live in the system itself have a relatively easy means of life - the only cost being nearly completely isolated from the rest of the continent.
The Ladekahn Plains:
The Ladekahn plains - with fields of gold instead of green - feature high golden grass about as tall as the average human male, the blades sharp enough to slice through bare skin, which is why protective clothing is required at all times. These plains are home to the Sogen Lycanthrope, and have an all-year summer, though it is on the most north-eastern point of the continent. Warm winds coming from the east keep the Ladekahn Plains in a pleasant transition between spring and summer.
