Name: Nicole Elizabeth Taylor
Age: 28
Appearance:
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Notable Friends/Relatives: My sister, Marlene, and I are very close. And my husband, Phil.
Likes: Talking, teaching, reading, and cookies.
Dislikes: Rude children, dull classes, and stealing.
Positive characteristics: I'm very optimistic and freedom-loving. I can be very honest and straightforward, too. I'm also philosophical.
Negative characteristics: All of the optimism can get to my head, so I get careless and a little irresponsible. I can be restless and tactless at times too.
Teaching Style: I like a class that asks a lot questions. Sometimes I have little competitions, but only for the younger years. I once tried it with fifteen-year-olds, it was terrible.
Backstory: I was born in France, and attended Beauxbatons Academy of Magic. I always wanted to be a teacher, but didn't get the opportunity until I moved to Britain once I married Phil. I taught at different muggle schools, until Hogwarts opened a Defense Against The Dark Arts position. I applied right away but wasn't accepted until a few years later. The rest of my family still lives in France. My brother, Louis, is a lawyer in the Ministry of Magic for France, and my sister is currently newly-wed. She wants to be a stay-at-home mom. I'm not sure why, wheres the excitement in that?
Why/how Dumbledore invited them to teach: Dumbledore apparently had a very dull teacher the year before, and was looking for a younger teacher. He thought I was just the right person, so, here I am!

6th Year DADA Prof

User Image

Melantha Stone

Age: 26

Appearance: My eyes are a slate bluish-grey just like – you guessed it – stone! rofl I dye my hair different colours and style it in various ways to keep myself from getting bored. Right now, it's indigo. I wish that I was a metamorphmagus so I didn't have to dye it, but at least it's easy to dye with magic. wink My clothes are bright because I hate drab colours. I’m so vertically-challenged (or, you know, short if you want to be dull and say it outright) at the height of 4 feet 11 inches that some people call me “Stepping Stone.” It doesn’t bother me, though. I love a good joke! razz

Notable Friends/Relatives: Nobody the students will have heard of. Well, I think I’m somehow distantly related to the Rosier family, but I could be wrong. I live in the present, and don’t study the past for information like that. Come to think of it, I don’t worry about the future much either, which is why my last girlfriend broke up with me a few months ago. She said she wanted someone “with definite direction in her life.” Whatever, that girl was too uptight anyway. rolleyes

Likes: Dancing in the rain is probably my favourite pastime; I like to have fun! Actually, I like it so much that I can be a little irresponsible.

Dislikes: routines and people that are too serious xp

Positive characteristics: energetic and willing to try new things cool

Negative characteristics: irresponsible and easily bored mrgreen

Teaching Style: I like to assign unusual activities – whether they’re practical or theoretical - and never a similar assignment twice. I’d be too bored to grade the work if there wasn’t variety in it. exclaim I don’t believe in sugarcoating things to students just because they’re young. I don’t have tact anyway, so I'd fail at sugarcoating even if I tried it. lol

Backstory: I’m the seventh out of nine children that went to a wizarding school in Australia. I know that we’re not purebloods…We’re like three-fourths blood or something. Everyone in my large family - as well as my circle of friends - called me “Mel” ever since I was little. Melantha just takes too long to say, you know? I think it means “dark flower” in Greek. It’s fun to be part of such a big family because as a kid I always had someone to play with, and if something got broken nobody got punished because my parents could never figure out whose fault it was! rofl My parents worked a lot to support us all, and my older siblings were either out partying or working on their careers, so I didn’t have much supervision growing up. I guess that’s why I don’t like rules and routines; I’ve never had to deal with them.

Why/how Dumbledore invited them to teach: Dumbledore wanted one of my older, more responsible sisters to take the job, but when she got Dragon Pox three days before term started I took her place because everyone else in the family had jobs or kids that they couldn't leave, and Dumbledore didn't have time to look for someone else. I've never considered myself ‘a good role model’ because I've never tried to be one. I love the enthusiasm of children, but since I’m not the best role model I wonder if I’m going to make a good instructor and if Dumbledore is going to regret suggesting that I take my sister’s place. Well, I guess we'll find out! I'll give this teaching thing a try because I’m the kind of person that will try ANYTHING once! biggrin

Name: Joseph Samuel Stewart
My trunk reads “Professor J. S. Stewart.” I got it specially made for the occasion, as a present to myself. I rather like the ring of it. User Image

Age: 21

Appearance: I’ve got dark hair, a youthful face, grey-green eyes, and I’m rather tall. I have been told that my appearance is quite pleasant.

Notable Friends/Relatives: Among the staff at Hogwarts, I’m quite friendly with Professor Flitwick; Professor McGonagall makes me feel like I’m still a student rather than a professor myself; Professor Slughorn is as jolly as ever; and Professor Sprout is just as kind. I like to think that I have earned a little respect from Professor Dumbledore as well as respecting him.
Outside of Hogwarts, I am pretty much alone. My parents have already passed on, and I have no siblings. There is no romantic “other” in my life. Romance can come after my career is well established. Perhaps only when I am limited to a desk job, instead of being out in the field. I would not want to be responsible for the welfare of a wife and children while I’m under such great risk working out in the field. My best friend is my Academy partner, Charlie McIntyre. Unfortunately, he was assigned an undercover job for his first assignment, and cannot be contacted by owl during the year I am set to teach Defense Against the Dark Arts.

Likes: Dueling and tests of strength, chess, logic, practicality, and puzzles.

Dislikes: Rash decisions, pranks, and disrespect.

Characteristics: Impatient, Vigilant, Demanding, Serious, Structured, Proud, Loyal, Precise, Respectful, Polite, Watchful, Cool, Witty, and Smart.

Teaching Style: Practical, and hands-on is the way I prefer to teach. If I must teach from the text, students will be required to dramatize it to give them a hands-on feel. Those that learn by doing will excel in my class.

Back story: I don’t have that much to tell. I am a Muggleborn wizard. I went to Hogwarts when I was younger, and I was sorted into Gryffindor. My parents died while I was in Hogwarts—my mum in my fourth year, and my dad in my seventh. I went straight into the Auror Academy upon graduation from Hogwarts. I spent three years in the Academy and now I’m back at Hogwarts to teach.

Why/how Dumbledore invited them to teach: I was one of the top Aurors in the Academy. Dumbledore, realizing that soon the need for students going into the Auror profession was going to drastically increase, decided to hire me to be an example of the profession. He invited me to teach before the previous school year was over, and before I had even a chance to get an assignment outside of the Academy.

Name: Landon Alexzander Mason.
Age: 22
Appearance: A man walks into the DADA classroom. Everyone looks. Is that a new student? Here? At Hogwarts? He has rich brunette hair and hazel eyes that will pierce your soul. The girls smile, liking this new male. The boys scowl. He stands up at 5’11”. His mouth opens to his pearly white teeth as he speaks. Who is he? Well, that man is Professor Landon A. Mason. It is I, your new professor.
Notable Friends/Relatives: Well, I am 4th cousins with the current French Minister of Magic. I tried to write him to inform him, but he refused everyone in my family any money at all, so I chose not to. I also have the most annoying, pigheaded cousin. I call him Delacour. I never really bothered to learn his first name since that is his surname.
Likes: I enjoy Quidditch, though we didn’t have very good program back at Salem. I could hit a bludger pretty well though. I also enjoy working with my wand. I am quite skilled. I enjoy it a lot. I have tried the muggle sport of baseball. It reminds me of being a beater. It’s a lot better then you would think, even though it’s a muggle sport. Muggles are a lot better then father said I have learned.
Dislikes: A lot of work is boring. That’s way I grade on effort and ability. No boring essays or tests in my class. It takes too long to grade and I need to have a social life still. I’m still young. Oh and another thing I don’t like is no fun. It’s horrible.
Positive characteristics: Well, I am smart, attractive, and caring. What more could you ask for?
Negative characteristics: Nothing, practically.
Teaching Style: Must I rewrite my dislikes again? Students are never silent in my class. Well the females never are. I’m afraid James Potter might hate me and he has led his group to dislike me also. Though Ms. Murray, the pretty little thing, seems to have not gotten the message.
Backstory: I grew up in America. Father wanted to experience another country besides France. I spent my first ten years in France. Then Father shipped me off to my Aunt Rita. Mother had died two years before and Father could hardly stand to be in the same room as me. I spent the next seven years in Washington DC. Besides the constant robberies and gang crimes, it was okay. It was better than the dump I was to call my school. As soon as I graduated, I began work at the American magical government (that’s what they called it in America). I had made my way to Assistant Assistant Head of Magical Defenses (don’t ask me why it was called that. I was unsure myself. I think they just like the word assistant) because of my marvelous charm and skills. They all said I was a shoe-in for the President of Magic, but I was too young to be so high up in the government as many complained. They ‘created’ my job so the complaining would stop about me getting too high up and 60 or 70 year old wizards worked under me. I met Professor Dumbledore when he visited our government last year. I kept up contact for 10 months before Dumbledore told me about the Order. He had remembered about me telling him how I want to defy my father and help muggles and wizards. A month later, he was looking for a DADA professor still so I quit my government job and volunteered. I would I have to wait around for the Order to start anyways and I didn’t want to be across the ocean from everything starting up. Plus, Defense is obviously my best subject.
Why/how Dumbledore invited them to teach: Can you not read? It’s in the last couple sentences of my backstory.

Third year DADA Professor

Name: Gregory Kowalski
Age: 29
Appearance: 6' 2” and slightly burly. I have black hair and dark eyes. My clothing is all worn, yet it appears nice. I am known for being tough on my clothing. I prefer dark browns and dark greens, and during the winter time I wear my dark brown coat with the grey fur, which my wife bought me for our first anniversary. I grew up in Russia, but I have lost my accent because of traveling and my wife.
Notable Friends/Relatives: I am distantly related to Grindelwald, however it is a relation I prefer not to have known. My father and grandfather both fought, and died, in the war alongside Grindelwald, yet two more relations that I'd prefer not to speak of.
Likes: Student's who know what they are talking about, and those who enjoy learning. I also enjoy cold weather, swimming, swimming in the cold, any type of food with pumpkin in it, reading, and dueling.
Dislikes: The pureblood belief that Muggleborns and Muggles are below them. Students who do not work, and do not enjoy learning.
Positive characteristics: I am a nice guy to get along with, and I am very easy to talk to.
Negative characteristics: I prefer to take punishment into my own hands, no matter who is the guilty person. I also have a bad habit of not showing my emotions on my face. I sometimes come across as too curious, and have been known for butting into things that I am not a part of.
Teaching Style: I prefer to teach by showing them how to do things, and having them work with me to perfect their skills. Duels are my favorite teaching activity. I detest nightly writing assignments, thinking that the students would learn more practicing their skills and working on their weaknesses. I am a firm believer in hands-on tests.
Backstory: I went to Durmstrang, and studied the Dark Arts, but I secretly studied the defense of the dark arts. I am a pureblood, and my family is firm in supporting the pureblood cause against the Muggles. I have been disowned by my family for my belief that they are wrong, and have since traveled to many places in order to build up my connections, and my knowledge. My wife, Rebecca, who happens to be a native of Ireland, is a muggleborn. She, and our seven year-old daughter, Alexandra, live in Hogsmead, where we settled two years ago in order to relax and rest.
Why/how Dumbledore invited them to teach: I am acquainted with some of Dumbledore's friends, including Newt Scamander. One day I was in the Three Broomsticks with Alexandra, we were waiting for my wife to finish her work at Dervish and Banges, (I was currently constructing a book on defense, and therefore was unemployed at the time). I was bringing Alexa a pint of Butterbeer when I saw a man talking with her. I realized it was Albus Dumbledore, the Headmaster of Hogwarts. Well to cut this story short, we got to talking, he told me about an open position in my field of expertise, and asked if I was interested. That is how I got the job of being the Professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts.

(Suze told me I could post it. I will have a pic up as soon as I am back from camping! I leave as soon as I am done with this.. my poor laptop has to stay home.. Bye guys!)
