-Basic Information-
Name: Hogo, Akaiken
Clan: Hogo
Age: Her true age has been lost but she only looks 19
Gender: Female
Rank: Academy Student
-Appearance-
Current Picture:
Height: 5'0" (5'2" including her ponytail >.> )
Weight: 100
Hair: Worn in a traditional high ponytail, tied with a string. Her bangs are unkempt as such that they tend to go in front of her eyes but this doesn't trouble her sight at all. Her hair is a pitch, dull black with red tips in the front and about a foot of red in the ponytail.
Eyes: Both eyes are the same color, black gradiating gently out into a lavender ring, though her gaze is often narrowed or piercing.
Clothing: Generally Akaiken doesn't customize her Shihakusho "It's called a uniform for a reason." being her excuse.
In the Mortal world she wears a T-shirt and hoodie, Jeans (sometimes baggy, sometimes not), a slightly intimidating leather belt, and boots. Since her normal hairstyle would make her stand out, instead of the traditional samurai ponytail, she wears her hair down so it's not nearly as noticable.
Physical Description: Akaiken is rather short but, surprisingly not sensitive about that fact. (unless one takes it too far but she's used to "shorty", "Shrimp", "Chibi", and that sort of thing.)
Background: In the mortal realm, Akaiken was the happy daughter of a swordsmith. Yes, there was a time in life when Akai was happy. But... life's never quite that easy, is it? The first tragedy being the death of her father. Though he merely died of an illness. Soon after, however, her mother too was taken from her, killed in a clan feud when she tried to kill the leader of a rival clan. A young Akaiken had followed her, Though when Akaiken's mother was murdered before her very eyes she took up the sword. A blade that her father had forged and wielded before his wife and... ran like hell.
The men ran after her and she lost most of them by hiding in a weaver's bucket of dye but when she thought it was safe and popped out there was still one lingering nearby. He spotted her and tried to attack but she reached up grabbing his wakizashi, pulling it from the sheath.
To this day Akaiken can't remember if she thrust up or if he simply fell upon the blade but at the time there was no room to think. She climbed out from the bucket and ran, though now covered in both red dye and the man's blood. Somehow she survived that day but her life was never easy.
The mere 12 years following that day were hell, surviving the only way she could... Killing. By the time of her death she was a well-established assassin of sorts, known as the "Crimson Devil" for the color of her hair and the rumors that even her eyes glow red before she kills. A travelling ronin with a high bounty on her head, and she only lost one duel. Of course, in the world she lived in, it only took one loss to lose your life.
That was her first time ever seeing a Shinigami first hand. She went through Soul Burial but there was, admittedly, some issue about whether she should go to Soul Society or Jigoku. But considering the Time period, and her lifes circumstances she was permitted into Soul Society on practically a thread.
Akaiken found herself in an area between 75 and 80 of Rukongai. Though, she had delt with that type of thing enough during life... she didn't need to for eternity. Akaiken thus decided to travel Rukongai after learning what she could from others in exchange for protection for a time.
She travelled quite 'happily'... until she started to get hungry, it'd been there the whole time she'd been dead, but only minimal amounts not even worth spitting at. But recently it was getting worse, especially when she fought. She talked to some of the people she'd helped and who'd been there a good deal longer. They said that only those with "Reiatsu" were hungry but gave her odd looks when she asked what it was. In exchange for her help a family let her stay there as they explained to her the things she'd never bothered to learn about this place called Soul Society.
As the time went by though she wasn't sure of it, others said that she seemed like Shinigami material if she went through training at the Academy.
All Akaiken knew was that she had the same hunger as when she was alive, if not more, in a world in which that didn't happen. But from the sound of things... Shinigami were those black robed people like the one that had sent her here...
Well, Akai didn't know if she was cut out for it, knowing almost nothing about that nonsense called Reiatsu. (That is, she had it but didn't know about it.) but if it involved swordplay... she'd be okay at least.
So it was in this mind, to put her lifetime of hardship to use, that she applied, and suprisingly, was accepted into the Shinigami Academy.
Personality: Akaiken is quite draconic, an angry and violent woman at best. She doesn't hesitate to use violence in almost any situation. She's what most would call "badass" though she can be somewhat nice. If the situation is right she will be more silent than angered. She has a strict sense of honor, using her height to her advantage in battle but never fighting dirty. She's also very modest as in clothing and such. She won't stand for anything indecent.
It's common for people to find her attitude rather arrogant, which is true but she can be nice... sort of. Akaiken never smiles, but she's generally polite in a way. She's not entirely impossible to make friends with but it's easier if you're at least somewhat like her. When Akaiken considers someone an Ally (she doesn't often call them 'friends') if they do something to upset her, she punches someone
else. (often times the next closest person).
Also, she would easily kill for her 'friends'. That being her equivalent of saying that she would die for them. (which she finds to be an utterly ridiculous phrase.) "Why bother dying for someone if you could kill for them? Dying only causes more grief, and if you're protecting them then they'd die too. It's better to kill for someone, thereby removing the threat in the first place."
Other: Akaiken + Kitchen = bad food (poison?). Seriously, Akai cannot cook rice properly (and in the mortal realm has been known to have issues with toasters). Also, sometimes she's mistaken for a boy from behind due to her mannerisms.
