Hey guys, this is about Obama, and I am sorry for bringing this into the guild. I guess I wanted to see if some of these crazy thoughts are present in the guild. I know that a lot of people don't agree with Barack Obama on different levels, but Impeachment? Groups trying to raise support against him before he has even been elected? Websites trying to prove that there is a conspiracy about his election?
Does anyone in the guild have feelings about these things?

I try to stay out of politics anymore... I haven't heard about the impeachment thing. It's the internet and you're bound to find sites about anything and everything so I wouldn't let that get to you. Whenever I see groups cry "Impeachment!" I just roll my eyes. You saw all the groups that were going "Impeach Bush!!" I just roll my eyes and think to myself "Yeah, good luck with that" 'cause I know it's not gonna happen.
I personally find myself disliking extremist opponents and extremist supporters of candidates. Both of which give their respected side a bad name. Since this election has been given more attention that other recent ones, we're bound to see more extremists on both sides. By the time the election was over I was sick of seeing them and I'm not even going to watch a cable news channel or anything of that sort until the inauguration is over (Things should die down a bit once it's over and attention will be less focused on the election/inauguration).
Bottom line, they did it with Bush and now they're doing it to Obama. I'm not surprised by it (it's not like I haven't seen that sort of thing done before) and I'm not going to be too concerned with this. It's really nothing new,

To some extent, I wanted to get it off my chest, but at the same time, it's not just random sites. These things seem to be pretty popular on Facebook (not the best medium, I know). Maybe it's because Facebook is so out in the open. A few extremist sites (www.genericihatethisperson.com) can be put out of mind, but networking puts a very different light on it.

Pathos Nervos 2009; The Year of Assassinations.
Don't say I didn't warn you. Obama won't be assassinated... The age of assassinations are over. Will there be some bullshit thrown towards Obama? You bet, however, to say that he'll be assassinated is just stupid... For every one person wanting to shoot at him, there is a million willing to take a bullet for him... I myself would gladly take a shot for Obama. I am very strongly for Obama, I actually still wear the Obama logo on my collar of my blueshirts for work. I support him and am fiercely proud of it. But I do know first hand about some of the crazy ******** out there that Jawes is talking about. Just yesterday I had someone try to claim that I only supported Obama because I'm feeling guilty about slavery... I pointed out that I'm of Irish heritage and have absolutely NO history of being even remotely associated with slavery (save for an Irish relative that fought for the North). I think that some of the s**t that has come out trying to rally hatred against not only Obama, but supporters of Obama has been disgusting. At the same time, I have to admit that I never really thought that Bush was a BAD president, he made some poor decisions but what president doesn't? Do I think that Obama will do a lot of good for this country both nationally and internationally? Yes, I do. Do I think that he's above making mistakes? No I don't. Do I think that there is either too much faith being thrown at the feet of Obama? Yes I do... The guy isn't going to fix the world for us, everything he does will need to have the support and force of the nation behind him. Otherwise everything he tries will fail... I got told frequently when I voiced opposition to Bush's policies to "Deal with it, he's our president and we should stand United"... Why is that not being told to all of these bastards that are starting hate rallies? Sorry, bit of a off the wall incoherent rant there.

I didn't say Obama would be assassinated.
Doesn't remove him from the list though. Nope, not at all.

Lyndon Johnson was the first president to ride in a limo to inauguration (as per the Kennedy assassination), but Ronald Reagan still got shot. Also, I put my finger on what bothers me the most about these calls for impeachment. The calls to impeach George W. didn't start until Iraq, well after his inauguration and 9/11. Yet somehow, there are people calling for impeachment before this coming Tuesday, and that is just crazy.

Yet somehow, there are people calling for impeachment before this coming Tuesday, and that is just crazy. What are some of these websites you're talking about? Anyways, Regan happened in the 80's, and the nut would-be assassin failed largely due to the security around Regan. The age of assassination really did end with Kennedy, I mean hell, via Google Earth, I can see the details on my pink bunny plush that I have on the dashboard of my car. Technology and prevention will foil any would-be assassin well before they got out the door to try to pull it off. About the crazy s**t people are going on about regarding Obama, they can't seem to grasp the fact that a liberal-minded progressive black man got elected. Couldn't possibly have anything to do with the fact that the McCain campaign was run like a ******** tabloid paper, or the fact that Obama genuinely was the better candidate. Living in Utah (Ultra-conservative), I have seen and heard some pretty gnarly s**t. I've had people tell me "I bet you'll be pissed when they find out he's not a Citizen", "How could you support that Muslim!", and my favorite; "You know he's going to paint the White House black right?". I see shirts that have the Obama campaign logo with a hammer and sickle in front of it with the phrase "Obamunism" under it. I've seen a lot of things, and get into arguments almost every week regarding my support for Obama. I shouldn't complain about the arguments, I am very proud that I voted for him, I make that very clear, and have been described by co-workers as the stores official "Obama-Fanboy" which doesn't bother me one bit. I honestly don't understand why people are so hateful towards him... I supported Gore and Kerry, but I can't say that I hate Bush. I tried my best to follow him as a leader. We are a nation of hypocrites really. Obama supporters are pretty much saying the exact same thing that Bush supporters have said for eight years. "He's our president, and we need to stand united behind him", however, that never happens. To people of the Guild: I don't care if you voted McCain, but join me in saying ******** the hypocrisy. We are part of the United States of America... United being the definitive word there. Obama has earned this office, and we need to drive putting the United back in our nations name.

Drinky McIrish "He's our president, and we need to stand united behind him", however, that never happens. Well I can't say I completely agree with this. While we do need to stand united, I will never tell someone to support someone that they do not believe in. Blind patriotism is NOT patriotism. Drinky McIrish Obama has earned this office... Amen to that, though. No matter who you believe in, and no matter who you supported in the last two elections, Obama won in the same system that Bush did, as well as Clinton, Bush Sr., and Reagan before him.

Jawes, hate to be the one to tell you this:
This happens with almost every presidency. A president NEVER has the support of 100% of the population, and there will be those who want the guy impeached. It's not unusual in the least.

I may not have voted for him, but like you said, he's our commander-in-chief. I'll support him as such. Except for that one BIG thing I just mentioned.
