Reine padded through the fog of Oblivion, completely at ease. She hadn't seen any signs of life the past day or so and she was sure she was still alone. That alone made her feel better, for although company was pleasent, she preferred to be by herself. It got lonely at times, of course, but she always happened to meet some other hounds when she felt that way.
She flicked her hair to one side, the locket about her leg clacking as it always did, for she could never get it closed for long periods of time. Eventually, she had decided to just leave it the way it was, and had grown used to the now-familar sounds of metal hitting metal, although occasionally, she snapped it shut for a few moments of hunting.
Her crimson antlers looked blood-stained in the thinning fog, and she dipped them as she passed a tree with low-hanging branches. She was surprised by the amount she had seen recently, as trees were rare in Oblivion. She assumed it was because the fog was so thin here, almost non-existant, and marveled at how the trees still kept hold of their leaves, as most of the ones she had seen before had only a few leaves clinging desperately to their branches or were completely bare.
She paused under a tree, smiling. Being able to see far distances around her gave her a secure feeling and that pleased her, although she felt more exposed, as well.

Casanova was off of his game today. He'd hit on the three females he'd come across in the gloom and they'd all turned him down. He growled a bit angrily at the thought. How dare they turn him down! Did they not know who he was? He was Casanova! The very hound that was unresistable to every female out there. Did they not know of his name? He snorted as he stormed through the fog and was almost ready to howl when he saw the trees up ahead. They seemed so lovely that they hurt his eyes. "Ugh. What hideous trees. They don't deserve to decorate this lovely fog." He sighed and continued walking, thinking about not even stopping by them in his frustration. He would have, too, if he hadn't seen the loveliest hellhound he'd ever come across. "Well, hello my lovely." He called ahead of him, "What are you doing in a place like this?"

Reine was busy admiring a tree with budding flowers when Casanova first spoke. She stalled for a few more moments, watching the tree for a bit more, before she turned to face the hound. She was used to having the attention of others, especially males, because of her appearance. Flirts were an ordinary thing for her, and it was not uncommon for her to flirt back.
"Hello," she replied, without a hint of surprise in her voice. "Just admiring the view." she smiled and motioned to the trees before turning back to the male. "And yourself?"
Her eyes scanned him as she waited for a reply, and she noted the arrow he had hung about his next with interest. She had often heard tales of the little winged whelps, who flew around shooting arrows of love to some unfortunate hounds, and to her, he seemed like one of them, with the hearts on his legs. Just older and without the wings.

Casanova smirked a bit wider at the hound, she was a lovely sight, all colorful with her reds and pinks. She brought more color to the dense gloom. "I'm just wandering this lonely road all by myself. I decided to stop and bask in the beauty of the scenery." He growled friendly-like. He tossed his short hair back from his forehead, causing his arrow to swing softly across his chest.

Reine gave the male an understanding look. She too walked a road by her lonesome, for in a way, were they not all alone? But she was curious, and she was used to others doing things for her in an attempt to please her, and so she asked, "Why?"
She didn't mean to sound intrusive. She was just curious. Was this male alone by force, or by choice, like her? Perhaps simply by chance? She knew the fogs of Oblivion made it hard for hounds to stay together. She didn't even know if any packs were about, and hounds were sociable creatures. She gave a saddened sigh at the thought, wondering how creatures such as they were born onto the world of such darkness.
Shaking such thoughts from her mind, Reine pawed softly at the ground, patiently waiting for his reply. She thought he seemed nice enough and he had a similar outgrowth of head-fur like she did. Then again, most males she met did, later turning savage. Some saw her beauty as a gift, and although she enjoyed it, she did not like the strings attached.

Casanova shook his head in mock sorrow, knowing she was buying it. "I don't really have anyone who would join me on my journey. I have a brother but I haven't seen him in several days." He whimpered a little bit as he spoke, wanting to add to the effect.
The truth was, he did hate being alone. It bothered him, but he wasn't going to open himself up to rejection. So, he put on airs that he hated it and knew that he was speaking the truth.

Reine lowered her ears, feeling pity for the poor hound. "What happened?" she asked, stepping closer, hoping to help the hound before her. She realized she had no idea what his name was, but felt it would be rude to ask at the moment so she settled down next to him, hoping she didn't appear overly affectionate.
Well... she wouldn't, right? She was sure the male wouldn't see it that way, since he seemed to be occupied with other thoughts at the moment. Thoughts of his lost brother.

"I have no idea." Casanova stared into the other hounds eyes as he admitted, "I just know that when I woke up one morning he wasn't there. I know that we're completely different than one another, but I do love him." With sudden mock agitation he said, "I wish I knew where he was! I'm so worried about him." Casanova had a feeling she was falling into his paws, but he wasn't going to push too hard right that moment. This was chess, and he had to measure each move before he put forward his next chess piece.

Reine smiled when he was done, although not in a taunting way. "You care about him, don't you." It wasn't a question. She shifted so that she was sitting more comfortably, and watched his face, testing his reaction as she said her next words.
"Perhaps he had decided to go off on his own." she murmured. "If there were no signs of a fight or struggle, he could have gone by his own choice." She didn't want to make him feel bad and she thought that if her words were true, then his brother could have at least told him about it. But she also wanted to reassure him, to let him hope that his brother was all right, so she said it, wondering if they were the right words to use. She might have angered him.
Suddenly her ears perked with realization. Hadn't this happened numerous times before? Hadn't she just recently think thought of these? Her gaze turned calculating, and she wondered if he was lying just to get to her. She grew angry at the thought, that he would use his own brother (if he really did have one), just for his own amusements, but she kept her feelings hidden. He could be telling the truth, and she felt it would be wrong to turn him away just because of the past experiences.

Casanova's head dipped a bit further down at the thought. This really did make him a bit upset, because he wasn't full out lying to her, merely telling half truths and exaggerating his feelings on the matter. Casanova was ten types of sly and this was an attempt to gain the affection of this lovely being. ". . . I-I supposed this could be true. He is prone to wandering off on his own." He admitted as he began to contemplate just how many times this had happened before. His heart lurched at the thought.

Reine frowned at the hound's reaction. Perhaps she should have said it differently. "If he's done it before, then I'm sure you'll meet up with him again." she said, trying to make him feel better. She didn't want to raise his hopes but she had no wish to destory them, either. She was curious as to what his brother was like, but asking about him probably wouldn't be the best topic about now....
So, she decided to get her previous question answered. Smiling sweetly, she stood, using her tail to turn his face towards her. "What name do you go by?" she asked, putting on a look of curiousity. She decided she would take his mind away from his brother for now.

Casanova nodded sadly. "I suppose so. Hopefully." He shook his head at thought. His heart gave a twinge that he didn't know he had in him. So what if he really was feeling things again? Casanova gave a tiny smile to the female. "They call me Casanova. And you?"

"Reine." she replied, her ears flickering forward at the sound of his name. "Casanova...." she mumured, trying it out. "You know, your name reminds me of a castle." she said, looking up at him. Her hair fell to the side as she turned, looking at the trees again.
"Beautiful, aren't they?" she asked, "It seems so rare nowadays to find any green trees. I heard they used to be abundant before, when we didn't have all this fog." she shook her head at the thought and her eyes, dull and gray compared to the rest of her, glinted sadly.

"A pleasure to meet you, my lady." Casanova bowed his head to her before giving a bark of a laugh. "Why, thank you. You're reminds me of. . . rain."
Casanova looked up at the trees and nodded his head, "Yes, they truly are." His eyes looked into hers when he said, "But not nearly as beautiful as you. And perhaps the trees will return one day."

Reine smiled, glad that Casanova was agreeing with her, and she chuckled. "Perhaps." Which comment she was replying to, she didn't specify.
She turned suddenly and padded away under the tall trees, her tail curling around Casanova's cheek as she slid away. She didn't look back once as she wove around the thick trunks and scattered leaves of the trees and she wondered if he would follow her. Most usually did and she wondered about this one, as he seemed both caring and selfish, which roused her curiousity, seeing as many were usually one or the other, but never both.
