Had this been a few months ago, Santana would have asked himself why he brought his charge out into situations like this. But it wasn't, and the boy was older, and had been behaving himself amazingly for so long. So out to the mall they went. Did they really need anything? No. But the mall was full of people, and Santana was secretly interested in seeing just how far Lit could go in a crowd before starting to get agitated.

They settled in the food court, strolling slowly by the various food places...trying to decide their next move.

How long had it been since she'd been here? Well, not in the mall, she'd been in there loads of times; she meant in the food court itself. It hadn't been... since she was a teenager, right? She smiled a bit, taking a bite out of the hot dog she was holding. She'd been growing further around the middle, and now it looked a bit less like she was just getting fat. Reena wrapped around her stomach, petting it softly, as though suddenly her unborn baby was a pet. She rolled her eyes as she finished off her hot dog, grabbed Niita as he grabbed for a woman's skirt. She was pretty lucky that her tentacles had gotten better at obeying her, otherwise she would be in trouble when she went around in public.

Her eyes caught sight of a familiar ice cream parlour, and she brightened immediately. Skipping up to it, she waved to a familiar teenage girl who was working there, a bright smile on her own face. The girl looked down uncomfortably, a frown on her face as Niita pressed himself against the glass casing that withheld the ice cream from the rest of the world. Her wings fluttered a bit and she smiled up at the woman. "Remember me?!"

Litural's eyes were glancing over the various food places, trying to decide if he was hungry enough to get food here or just wait until he and Santana headed back home. Tacos were really good but Lit realized with a very satisfied grin that his were better than anything they'd ever be able to make.

"Be right back, Lit. Gotta make a pit stop," he heard his guardian say before the man went off towards the bathroom.

Lit barely glanced away. Not that he meant to ignore Santana, but he had caught sight of something familiar. It had purple hair and skin, with annoying, twisting tentacles...but as the Wrath child took closer inspection, he realized it was not the spawn he'd met and saved, but instead someone knew. He stopped still then, watching this new one...quickly noticing that not only was this one not Adriel, but it was female.

He probably looked creepy. A pre-teen boy, red skinned and double winged, standing in the middle of the food court...staring at a girl while she got ice cream. Like he was waiting for something to happen.

"Um... no," the waitress replied, hoping that saying that would get the bizarrely fast-growing child away from her. She hadn't liked her the first time, and she was sure that wasn't going to have changed at all. Adhara pouted as the woman walked away and helped another person, waiting patiently as Niita tried desperately to get into the ice cream.

"But- I was- Oh, fine then. Can I just have some... chocolate brownie ice cream, please," she said sulkily, waiting as the woman scooped her ice cream, and she paid, taking the cone and leaving. As soon as she turned, however, she paused, blinking a few times at the sight that greeted her. This was a strangely familiar situation now, wasn't it? She had turned with her chocolate ice cream to be greeted by a boy. However, this one wasn't Adriel -unfortunately; she'd been wanting to see him... much more that usual as of recently- and didn't really look like her, except the wings.

She fluffed her own wings a bit, blinking a few times before shrugging to herself and walking toward the boy who... looked a rather lot like Duncan, actually. A very lot. Hell, he could have been the boy's twin brother for all she could tell. She gave a small smile and a wave when she was close enough to not be shouting over the entire food court. "Hello there. My name's Adhara," she introduced, wondering what the boy's virtue was and, moreso than that, if it was dominant over his obvious Wrath blood.

Litural couldn't believe what he saw when the girl turned around. Oh sure, he'd see...well, women like this before. They were on TV, or walking around the mall, and he'd never really paid them any attention. He hadn't felt the need to.

But this was different. He'd never seen someone...pregnant...like her. Not young like he was, not heading his way intent on talking to him, and not another spawn. And while he stood there, two eyes trying desperately not to stare while his rambunctious third eye attempted to bore a hole into the bulge that was a baby belly, he realized an odd feeling washing over him.

It was like anger, but it wasn't. It didn't have the same burn and didn't make his face and hands feel hot, even though it came from the same place in the pit of his stomach. His wings actually settled low, drooping sadly against his back when she spoke to him, and Litural thought he was going to be sick.

"Hi," he choked, swallowing hard and looking at her glasses then her wings. Anything other than that belly...which his third eye kept glaring at menacingly, "I'm Litural."

There was a certain kind of tension caused by the awkwardness of being stared at, even if it was by only one of the boy's three eyes. However, his reaction wasn't standoffish or anything, but it definitely wasn't what she had anticipated originally. She glanced down to her stomach; she hadn't gotten that big yet, had she? Well, sure, it had changed from having the appearance of gaining weight to just a baby belly, sure, but... was it that obvious. She thought over her appearance in her head and resisted rolling her eyes; yeah, it was that obvious. If someone's eyes weren't drawn to the fact that she had wings and horns and tentacles [oh my!], they were going to notice the fact that someone her age was... pregnant. Blech.

Reena wrapped protectively around her stomach, as though trying to hide it from the third eye of the wrath child, before jabbing out at him, as though somehow that would help; if anything, the tentacle was acting like an overbearing parent. If the appendage had a mouth, she guaranteed that it would be lecturing the other boy for no real reason about how bad staring is or some crap like that; Adhara wasn't one to judge on the topic of staring anyway.

"Nice to meet you, Litural," she said, almost meekly, outstretching a hand only for Niita to reach farther, almost grabbing for Lit's hand. She rolled her eyes a bit at her tentacles, pressing Reena back down from her 'I'm trying to lecture you' position and wrapping Niita around her wrist, where he stayed without much resistance, surprisingly enough. "So... what brings you here today?" Some kind of pleasant conversation, no matter how strange it sounded. Anything to get away from the awkwardness that was clinging to the air around them.

Again with the frickin' overbearing tentacles. What was the deal with those things? Adriel's were the same stupid way. Side-stepping the first purple appendage that jabbed at him, Lit was already growling softly when the second made a grab for his hand. The movement he made was almost like a hop, backing away from Adhara and out of reach.

His mismatched main eyes snapped up at the girl in a scowl, and he could feel anger mixing with the sickness, rising like heat from asphalt in his vision. He took a big breath, hands clenched in fists and he counted backwards from 100...having to get down into the 70's before he found he could speak without snapping.

"Don't," he started, then stopped. Seventy-four...seventy-three...seventy-two. "Please," he strained. "Don't let them touch me."

He counted down ten more seconds before his fists relaxed. That had been a hard one to come back from...and still, that uneasy feeling was there.

"I'm out with my guardian," he said, finally answering her question. "Just getting out of the house."

Why was he having so much trouble looking away from her belly?

"W-what...what about you?"

Adhara blinked in almost-confusion as the boy stepped further away from her. At the request, she nodded a few times; really, she didn't blame him for not wanting the weird appendages near him. "You two, stop," she whispered toward the limbs, Reena's wriggling irritably finally dying down and Niita wrapping snugly around her wrist. She offered Litural a faint smile in return. Sure, she felt lucky that her limbs didn't cause as much havoc as... some, but they were still one of the main reasons that she ended up in her current situation anyway.

She licked the drippings off the sides of the ice cream cone, and then looked back toward the wrath boy when he spoke once again. She shrugged in response to the question, glancing toward her ice cream cone before gesturing towards that. "Just getting out of the house and away from my dad, actually," she said, chuckling weakly; he had been being overbearing lately, she was allowed to be irritated at him! Her world didn't revolve around a baby that she wasn't sure she even wanted to be having. "And... getting ice cream, too, I guess." She laughed faintly, before the temporary amusement was over and her mind wasn't generating anything else to say. Crap...

Litural watched her gestures, nodding his head slowly; not really answering her, but understanding all the same.

He seemed rather distracted, his thoughts weighing heavy on him. On one hand, he wanted to criticize her for getting herself into her situation...how could she be so irresponsible? Didn't she care that she was so young, a baby having another baby? And on the other, he was just speechless...though, there was one question that weighed a little heavier on his mind.

"When are you due?"

The thought made him cringe...visibly. His third eye winced when he spoke, as if it'd been struck, remaining narrowed in a very tight glare.

Adhara merely ate her ice cream, trying to ignore the conversation as well as the awkwardness of the situation. It was when she was about to make a comment about going somewhere to do something before getting home, when Litural asked her a question that she was not expecting.

She paused in the process of licking her ice cream, ears turning a bit red as she glanced over at him, pulling her tongue back in her mouth and offering a weak smile. "I... think... around... two or three months? It's... I mean, I'm not really sure. Vampy said that it would be two months, judging by a demon's normal gestation period, but I've been- it's been developing as though it's going to be longer than that- around three months, I think... so I'm not completely sure."

Lit wasn't sure who he felt worse for: Adhara, for having to bear the weight (haha) of having a child at such a young age, or her baby for having to be born to a mother that didn't know when it was coming and wouldn't be ready for it when it came.

And he still felt so off. It was becoming more than a little irritating, this strange feeling on queasiness in his stomach, fluctuating from one side to the other; like his body hadn't decided if it really wanted to throw up or not.

"So they know you're...pregnant?" he asked, hesitating on the word only because it felt like cotton in his mouth.

Checking the situation out actually made him feel a little more at ease. Was that strange? It was almost like if he knew more of the how's and why's, he could...do what? The spawn wasn't entirely sure, but if it was going to make the feeling go away, then he'd run with it for now.

Adhara licked the ice cream cone to try to get rid of the flush on her face, forcing herself to think that it had no reason to be there, anyway. Niita prodded at her stomach with interest, only for Reena to smack him away, jabbing at him for not treating the unborn with the utmost of love and attention. That only led to Niita prodding Adhi's inflated belly once again and darting away from the smack that was coming from Reena. Had Niita a mouth, he probably would have been laughing by this point.

She nodded a few times in reply to the next question. "Yeah. My dad took me to the Facility when I started getting really sick and really tired- that last one's weird 'cause I'm a Diligence child, so I shouldn't be sleeping really deep every single night, which was what was going on," she said, nodding a few times.

"It was really scary at first, like, when I first learned about it. But Vampy told me a few things about how to take care of myself and the baby and let this really, really nice tech take care of me, which is weird, because there aren't a lot of nice people at that place. And so now, I'm not really that sick anymore and-" she paused a moment and gave a sheepish smile, blushing a bit. "I'm ranting aren't I? Sorry; I just haven't had a chance to talk to many people about this..."

Lit couldn't understand why she would want to talk to anyone about this. Not that he ever had to worry about being in her situation himself, but the thought of getting a girl...pregnant...made him feel ashamed, and the thought made a whole new wave of nausea wash up from his stomach. He probably even turned a little green in the gills. Though, considering his skin tone, he probably just looked a shade or two paler than normal.

"How can you be so...okay with that?" he said, his voice sounding shaky. "Don't you feel bad about getting into this? And what about the dad? Isn't he...upset, too?"

Actually, come to think of it, where was the dad? Lit hadn't heard Adhara mention that she was with anyone else...why wasn't the father around to help her out and protect her?
PostPosted: Sun Mar 29, 2009 2:01 pm

Adhara's wings fluffed up a bit at the first comment, and she glanced away slightly. Reena and Niita wrung the tips of each other nervously, much as a person would wring their hands, obviously a bit ashamed. Well, they very well should be! The two of them were one of the main reasons why Adhara didn't just slip back out Adriel's window and get on with a life without having a child growing inside of her.

Her eyes widened slightly at the question after that, however, her wings tensing along with much of the rest of her body, both tentacles wrapping around her stomach and trying their hardest not to move, not wanting to draw any attention to themselves, which was an extremely, extremely rare occurrence. By this point, the ice cream was melting all over the girl's hand, surprising her when she glanced over at it, finally taking a step to the left, tossing it in the trashcan and taking a previously acquired napkin out of a pocket. Taking a seat on a nearby table-bench, she busied herself wiping off her hands, trying to distract herself from the question she knew she had to answer. Or, felt as though she had to answer.

"The father... he..." she started, losing her speech a moment later, before sighing a bit irritably, bothered by her inability to talk about such a... topic. "The father doesn't know," she said finally, voice quiet and hands clean. She placed the napkin on the table behind herself and pulled one of her wings around herself, picking out loose feathers and generally preening herself. "I mean... I wasn't... planning on this happening. Actually, I wasn't planning on, well, that happening, either," the last bit was tacked on awkwardly, Adhara tapping her toes on the ground nervously.

This conversation had gone from a relief to a pain in no seconds flat. Even on her end.

Lit's eyes bugged upon hearing the father didn't know. Didn't know??? How in Hell could he not know? Couldn't he see with his own eyes what was going on with the girl? The spawn stood speechless while Adhara preened her wings, processing the information, coming up with the one conclusion that seemed the most obvious...and eased that uncomfortable knot in his stomach a bit.

"Then you've got to tell him," he said, sounding almost stern. "He should be helping you, taking care of you...and your baby."

He didn't really understand where all that came from. After all, he'd seen plenty of single parents - his own guardian included, though he'd never call Santana "Dad" - who were just fine in raising a child by themselves. This was different, the girl was different. That baby was something they had created together, planned or otherwise, and the father needed to be responsible for his actions just like she was.

At least that's what he felt was right, according to that other part of his DNA.

"Why haven't you told him yet?" he asked, still standing...looking down at Adhara with a set of eyes that seemed neither condescending nor sympathetic.

Though that third one in the center of his forehead still seemed rather mifted.
