I like power exchange in yuri. I'm not talking BDSM necessarily. It can be where one partner is older and the other is younger, or one is from a higher social caste, or one is just more dominant and one is more submissive.
I see a lot of people complain about that contrast, and act like the girls in a yuri pairing should be the same age, maturity level, social status... but at that point, you're taking away everything that makes the story interesting (at least, for me.)
Power exchange adds spice to the story. I'm not always in the mood for simple touching love stories, sometimes I want drama and tension. Power exchange provides that.
Of course in real life, these situations can lead to abuse (specifically in the case of age, real life couples where one person is much older than the other creep me out). But in anime and manga we don't have to worry about the ethics of it.

I prefer power play too. I like the dynamics of a dom and sub together. It's really cute when there are two girls of equal everything and their love is all about sugar kisses and blushing sighs of heartfelt contentment. but the strength of a dominant woman is a beautiful thing, and the strength of endurance and willingness to obey in a sub is just as beautiful.

I also notice that height tends to play a role in this too.
Taller people happen to be plastered with a dominant role, and the shorter person with a submissive.
However I don't think that's always the case, since some tall girls I know in my school sway towards a shy side.
Either way, swapping roles and dishing out the unexpected keeps me from boredom, so you could say I'm quite happy with them. :3

Power exchange keeps things intresting but like Convulsive Gummi Bear I am very fond of mixing up the sterotypes of taller people being submissive or the poorer class girl being dominant. Its just fun to mix it up occasionally from the norm.

I love those kinds of situations, though when it comes down to it, I could play both positions, lol. I guess those situations, to me, kinda depend on who they are and what type of person they are^^

I'm okay with power exchanges, although I like to read works that are more real life rather than fantasy xD As long as it isn't too much of an age difference..

Hm... Well it dose make the story a bit more interesting yes. But I do like it when even with a difference in power they both take equal sides and who is the dominate in the relationship. That way they both get there hanse to be in charge.

I used to know this little sugar girl who was extraordinarily dominating. And i'm very submissive and i'm 5'11. I think for manga and anime it just helps convey a physical difference that can be recognizable as to who has which role.

I agree. I ADORE stories with differing ages and power levels. Nothing has to be extreme but it still adds some spice to the story. Otherwise, I get a lot of roleplays that die -_-.

I'm definately into the whole social class thing but I didn't know it until my friend wrote this one yuri between a young monarch and a peasant. Definately a "princess and the pauper" kind of deal but it was VERY sexy... I think I'll go read it now.

I have to say that I enjoy the dynamic myself, but tend to pay more attention to the uke characters. I would have to agree with Sakaki from Azumanga Daioh on this: "Cuter is somehow... stronger."
Also, as a side note completely unrelated, a quick thank you to Ra-ezelle for having that pic in your signature, been looking for it for a year.
