After lurking around the ed boards an idea came to me, im not sure what our gay population here is but i wanted to know, for someone who fancies the same sex, is virginity just as important? are you just as likely to hold onto it?

I'm not homosexual so i wouldn't know whee But if they r in this guild then i wud assume it's important to thm. Homosexuals maybe find it harder to gt relationships wen they are young because of the way sum ppl might react to it. (lyke teling their parents might be difficult so they hide they're sexuality, or bein afraid to "c** out" to m8s)
i am just assuming. Sum1 corect me if i'm wrong whee

I attend a college with a large gay population... so I know a fair amount about the way it works. It seems like it's well... less important to some, at least gay men. A lot of the gay guys I know will sleep with them on first date or are promiscuous. Not all, or course, but it's fairly common from my understanding. I've heard several gay friends say they wish the gay community didn't have this mindset of screwing on the first date.

When I went to art school we had a fair sized gay population and this might have to do with the "artist" nature of everyone involved, but most were way to busy with school and our studies, lots didn't leave the studio till way past 12am and most were in serious relationships.
I don't think that there is any more promiscuous nature to the gay community then there is to the heterosexual community

at my college theres tons of gay people, and i found them to be pretty much the same as heterosexual people, as in some of them are always horny and will do anything that breathes, wheras others are in long term relationships. i guess it probs differs everywhere i guess.

It may just be at my school. It may also have to do with the fact that our three main schools are theatre, music, and dance meaning everyone is very in touch with their body.

well the interesting thing would be to look at the straight population. and chances are they would probably lie more often about doing it, seeing as homosexuality is already borderline taboo as well as sleeping on the first date, so there is no point lieing about it if you are gay, in many peoples eyes (erroneously) you have already done bad.

ahh yea good point, i was speakin to a gay at college the other day and he had been to a university open day for a course on art and photography and he said the class was full of gay men, he also said he couldn't wait to see how many of them he could shag sweatdrop i think the sex drive of that gay must make up for the whole celibate gay community lol (he's even has sex with his mum's hairdresser... neutral )

Well i will add this. i have worked in theater a long time, and yes allot of the jokes apply about gays in thie-ah-tah, but from what i noticed, virginity mattered less, how do you know your gay until you have given it, but sex and sensuality meant more. being in touch with their bodies more, as one mentioned, meant that it was more sensual for them to give their body.

Intelligent and/or literate pervert?
I'm not really sure how to respond to this... But in my personal experiences, I didn't know I was (and still am) bisexual until I started checking out other females... I never had sex with them, but they still interested me. ^^ I guess that means you can discover your sexuality without losing your virginity. ^^ I know I did.

As a stage manager, I would like to add the whole theatre community is very er... in touch with their bodies. Seriously, you have to be if you're going to direct, choreography, watch, or take part in an orgy on stage.

Now, I don't know what I am, but you say, "how does one know if he's gay until he's given it", and to me, the answer would probably be along the lines of "how does one know he's straight if he hasn't given it"? At least, that's what, to me, makes logical sense.

My response would have to be, "if you haven't given it, you can only assume". If finds himself physically attracted to women, he can safely assume he's straight, and if he finds himself physically attracted to men, that he's gay. Now, I know there's more to it than that, but it's the general idea.

you've got a good point i never thought of it like that but yea i guess the majority of people assume they're straight untill they find out otherwise.

I know that one of my homosexual friends found it acceptable to have oral intercourse with someone, but wouldn't do any form of penetration.

I'm sure it has to be similar to the heterosexual community.

Except that I know, on average, most males are incredibly horny and so I'm fairly sure that gay males as a whole are more promiscuous.
