The Infirmary stands on the ground floor of the Academy. Here sick or injured students can get treatment for everything from a migraine to a mauling, though thankfully nobody has ever been mauled at Rikku's. The Hospital staff are the best availible, and the facilities are top-notch. This is known to be the one area in the school where Faction rivalries end at the door. Even the Reds are on good terms with the staff (their freshmen are regulars). Students with the ability to heal are encouraged to volunteer here, where they can receive basic first-aid training, for extra credit.

The hospital is run by [insert Name], who sees to each patient individually. He/she is polite and gentle, and keeps prying questions to a minimum. This makes him/her one of the best-loved members of the school staff.

Ryu walked over and sat in a chair near the bed. It was hard to believe what had happened just now. "I've got a lot more work to do if this is what I am up against..." he thought. Rikku was preoccupied as she passed in and out of the room, so Ryu did not attempt to interrupt her. He simply sat and watched the sleeping student, going over what he saw when she was in his mind. Though she was unconscious, he repeated his promise to her. "No needles, no tests." He would see to that.

Ryu stood up, bowed slightly to the doctor, but held his spot. "She does not need any tests doctor, she simply got a pretty nasty bump on her head from a book, and she is resting now. Can you please just look at the injury and when she wakes up you can check her for a concussion and send her on her way?" It was a request, but the look in his eyes should have told the doctor that he was not willing to negociate.

Ryu grabbed the needle from the nurse before she could stick it in to Jelene's arm. "Forgive me miss, but I am going to have to ask you to wait until Rikku arrives to do that." He set the needle down on the table next to him. Turning to the Doctor, Ryu said politely, "Of course I understand. However, I made this young girl a promise that almost landed me in a bed next to her, and I will not be so quick to go back on it. If you would be so kind as to please call Rikku, I'm sure she's already on her way now. "

Ryu shook his head and looked at Rikku angrily. "How can you manipulate me like this? Especially after our discussion in your office, you know what this will do to her! She will be fine physically without those, and you know it! As for her other issue, I will personally take her under my guidance and work with her... You know what I've been through," and his mind flashed the images again of his teenage years. "We have a lot in common, please give me this chance..."

Ryu was not sure if he had spoken this aloud or in his mind, but at that point he did not care or have the energy to figure it out. He slumped back in the chair, unable and unwilling to fight the psychic power holding him down.

"Thank you, Rikku." He took her hand in a sincere embrace and put a hand on her shoulder. "I know how much you care for her, and I saw that she cares for you too, and she will appreciate this." He moved his chair next to the bed and sat down, waiting for Jelene to wake up. He centered himself so he would be ready for whatever happened. He had to help her, he just had to...

Ryu spoke in a low tone but did not touch Jelene just yet. "Vy bezopasny, Jelena. I promised you no needles, didn't I?" He stood and drew the blinds closed to cut out some of the light. He sat down at the foot of her bed. "They aren't going to do anything to you. As soon as you are feeling better we can leave, I have your aunt's word on that. You know, she cares about you very much."

He smiled and gave her a hug. "Of course. I'll be waiting just outside the door while you get yourself ready. Where would you like to go?" He was glad to see that she was trusting him. That would make their training easier to start, because if she didn't trust him, this would not go well. He was extremely blessed to have his parents care for him as much as he did. He was beginning to think that not everyone like him had had it so easy...
