Hoshi-- ACTIVITY :B

ANYWHO. I was going through the Writer's Forum, and came across a thread about characters you just couldn't wait to kill, and how they died.

I know that we here in the CAA have a tendency to kill or torture characters we like more than the ones we hate, but sometimes there's just that exception...

For me, it's Sar. He's fun to write and all, but damn he is a crazy b*****d. I can't wait until he becomes the first person burned at the stake for heresy in Direnla for 100 years 3nodding

... especially 'cause he's not the only shadowmancer ninja

I originally looked forward to killing Richard because I intended him to be an evil b*****d who smelled slightly of brimstone and would pretty much deserve what he got. I never expected he'd turn out to be a nice guy. I still can't wait to kill him, though, because that means getting to see Nathan squirm at the sight of Richard's corpse after the lividity has settled into half of his face.

I also can't wait to kill Prince Eldred, because he's been vying with Leste and Ciora for Least Important Character Ever since day one. At least by dying he serves a purpose. That purpose being to throw the Alliance back into war with itself.

I can't wait to kill Poxy, a very minor character who's the whiniest, most annoying little b***h I've ever created. He will get trapped in a lab and burned to death. Because that's always fun.

On the plus side, killing somebody you dislike generally means that they won't have fun when you finally do the deed.

I'd say I love my character Alan--he's such an a**, but he gets the girl in the end. . . for about ten minutes. Then I kind of have to kill him. sad Maybe. Perhaps.

I hate Jordan because he's a snot who finds out he's not so tough. I want to kill him, too. xD

I want to kill all of my characters (except for Porter). Unfortunately, that's unfeasible.

The character I want to kill most, though, is one I can't for story purposes. emo Dave. Dave needs to be alive so he can try (and fail) to give Vern hell for killing Porter, who, oddly enough, is the one character I did not enjoy killing, so he can then lose his nerve at a suicide attempt spawned by his massive life failure. Oh, story.

I think my sadism is turning it's attention to me.

I digress. Dave is so...great when he's suicidal. It evens out the "I got it all figured out" s**t that he puts off on the first half of the story.

Itz nice to have a character with a plan already. Good for Dave. xD

I wouldn't try to put so much of yourself into what you're doing to your characters. Mine mean so much to me, I can't imagine how much yours mean to you.

Oh, this work is already nearly done. No "plan," just what was done. Nowhere near polished enough, but, it's definitely slapped down.

I think my relation with my characters is fine. I can wrestle them into fitting the grand scheme of "story," which is what they're there for, so, it's all quite functional, really.

No offense meant, like it was easy, but it does help that you've an idea in the first place. So many of my characters start out with sad endings and then, once in a while, I get my way. :3

Just got back from a Con and talking to a Sci-Fi Horror writer named M. R. Sellars. Got some great conversation from him when he talked about the relationship he has with his characters, too. I need to finish his series.

Christ, I forgot how posty you guys are. D:

I'm looking forward to killing Symira. Because it's not the end, and it's such a wonderful feeling when he realizes that he's stuck with The Destroyer's mad science-y tendencies a fate worse then death. Because I will not get to actually kill him. He dies offscreen. Jerk.

That's the only death I'm going to enjoy, though. D: The Destroyer spontaneously combusts after s/he destroys hir world, and I rather like hir, despite the horrible things s/he's done. gonk

Dying offscreen, that would make me a little miffed. ^_^

If there's no world, there's no Destroyer. That's pretty clean cut and everyone's eyes are wide open in the end. Yay.

Richard technically dies offscreen, but there's a fun scene where Vitae and Nathan find his stiff, lividity-settled corpse. 3nodding

Yeah; I'm glad Rags nabs him. Makes me feel better.

It's less clear-cut then that. The Destroyer isn't linked to the world s/he destroys, and s/he might even be able to survive destroying the ones she made, if s/he was cunning enough. IT'S CONFUSING, I ADMIT IT. sweatdrop

Yeah, I tend to oversimplify things in a storyline. Sorry about that. ^_^ Is the Destroyer cunning enough?

Not sure. Ragnarok likes hir, and s/he did make an attempt when the world started stagnating, but the whole insanity thing might get in the way. S/he has made sure s/he has no rivals up to that point, though, so s/he probably would survive. The world-end's too far away from the end of the books for me to really care.
