Brilliant Example of the media exploiting what the meaning of purity is, as done via an Episode of South Park.

we esspcailly must be aware of such things

.... .... I.... I... -head explode- the only way south park can be seen as brilliant is in the classical sense of being blinding. it can be at times so stupid that i feel like gouging out my eyes. using it as an example of anything is like using a Phelps family website as an example of common sense....

(truth be told these two posts made me face palm, with both left and right palm, shortly before face desking, twice.

Saying South Park is a serious example of anything is like saying Hitler is a valid example of modern political tactics ... or that the Jonas brothers actually have talent to make a worth while parody...
You are taking their statements fair too seriously and to be honest need to lighten up... Its fluff, popular culture

I actually caught that episode by chance last night, which is funny since I normally dislike South Park.

While I dislike it when people make fun of purity rings, because I understand their importance, I also dislike how publisized the Jonas Brothers' purity rings are. I feel like by making a big deal out of the fact that they're not having sex, you're just further introducing sex to the younger generations by making them think about it constantly. I think if the Jonas Brothers' choose to abstain, it should be a personal choice, not a widely publicized ordeal.

I flatly refuse to watch another episode of south park, I have seen one to give it a chance and did not see the humor.

I didn't watch the clip as my pc is running slow and i daren't
but
i think the media does kinda mock virginity, everyone made a huge fuss over miley cyrus (i think its her) an the jonas brothers like it was so shocking that people, might.. want... to.. wait.. for.. marriage.. till... sex... :O
-.-
mens mag's for example (assuming male virgins still read naked lady magazines) often contain a page of made up stories they pretend readers have written boasting about sex and what they've done with twins and watnot.
everything is sexed or sexy in someway, gawd even the news reporters are flashin a bit of leg these days.
but i do wonder wether the media is actually representing society's views and "telling it how it is and what people want" or if they are actually having an effect on young people.

i hope that makes sense.

im sorry but your using porn as an example of mainstream? no just no... right there no.

and as for virginity its becoming more popular. in certain states the sex ed program is literally don't have sex. Dont masturbate, dont use birth control. the religious right have hijacked this and they are turning it into a monster instead of the beautiful thing it could be.

here if you want something thats atleast worth some while watch the following

http://www.surfthechannel.com/episode/2749/48384.html

this one is good too

alright bad example, but pretty much every magazine, and newspaper will have something sexual in it, i once read a magazine aimed at 12/15 yr olds that featured something about "best before dates" of things you should do, for example its best to try your first alcholic drink before your 19, and this magazine actually said loosing your virginity, best before 18 yrs old. and thats aimed at young girls.
and i don't believe going celibate is the answer, kids just need to be taught better sex ed and be taught to actually THINK before they have sex with anything that moves (and things that dont move) (i know someone who had "sex" with a empty bottle of soda)
i think the more you tell kids not to do something the more they'll wanna do it. drugs for example, we're always told not to do them, avderts in media about how bad it is, even celebrities die from drug overdoses, yet people still take drugs.
i think the whole virginity issue is more to do with how as a society we handle it, rather than by pushing it under the carpet and telling kids not to do it.

User Image I couldn't watch the bloody thing, but I would have liked to. I watch south park, but when I do, I take it ALL as a joke. I don't take any of it seriously because that's all comedy is. It's not meant to be serious, although it sometimes can be while still being funny.

Agreed Wish. They really do. It's sad that kids, meaning 17 and younger, should not be having sex just because it's "cool", "in", or just for the hell of it. They also should not be "hitting and quitting it", but every guy (except for the select few) does it because they "aren't ready" for a committed relationship. Or a relationship for that matter. I just don't understand how guys are so horrible that they'll go to such lengths to just get some and leave.

The drugs thing will never stop because they're all idiots, or just plain ignorant. Fact is, they just can't handle life, for one reason or another. Now, I definitely cannot speak for those war veterans because a last call pain killer used in war is morphine, amputees because of the "ghost leg" pain, and those who were forced to use it, born into it, or the accidental usage ones, but they all can quit, they just refuse to. it is really sad, i think societys falling apart, the other day some random kid on his own started yelling abuse at me and then he ran away, from what i cud grasp he was offended by me wearin my welly boots to college, if i hadnt been so shocked id hav chased after the bugger and damaged his baby making area. i wudnt have dared say anything like what he said to me to a stranger whn i was a kid, i wudnt now, its really worrying. sad thing is i think its all too far gone to go back and fix it, we're stuck like this with out of control kids and people getting pregnant at 12 :
if people want random sex that means nothing why dont they just go to a hooker :S its daft.
with the drugs thing, i think its harder for certain types of people top stop uing it than it is others, the middleclass kids who take it nto fit in and look cool i reckon it must be easier for them to quit than the war vetrens etc.

Disney is a horrible horrible company. They do things behind closed doors that are completely borderline on insanity.

South park is made for those who are educated enough to get it, if you dislike it because you think it's stupid, you probably don't get it. If you dislike it because it's vulgar, then that's a different story.

Some episodes suck... but if you didn't get the one on the Jonas Brothers, then you probably lack an understanding somewhere.
