I know this has probably been asked before, but it never really got a clear, direct answer, but how exactly do drow see in this version, Undegaia?
Do they see heat, see light much easier, see with vibrations, or what? O.o

i'm personally for either the Infravision described in the books, or else the v.3 - 3.5 Darkvision, which is a kind of nightvision that works in total darkness. in that version, they cannot destinquish colour at all, but they can make out shapes and features pretty clearly.

It's basically like what you'd see through night-vision goggles but in shades of grey instead of green.

Quenthal They can see through the Infrared Spectrum, and also are able to see the way we are... That's what I've been told. In total darkness, they don't see color, but heat signatures. When light is present, I believe they will see in regular spectrum.

This is how their vision is explained usually, though the manual version I have only gives them No light and low-light vision. Otherwise.....I know the RA Salvatore versions, the Drow Eyes in light are green. Is this cannon to other writer's as well? I know it is not mentioned in the Manual. ><

A lot of people make the mistake that drow men are larger than women such as in surface elves, though they tend to be the lighter, shorter half of the species. From what I understand, since sunlight tends to hurt the dark-attuned drow eyesight, so I would imagine that their eyes would be quite light-sensitive to be able to function in the darkness of their society. Somewhere I've heard the heat-vision before, described as being red-tinted in seeing most red-blooded life forms. Since they notice distinctions between Houses for banners and are notorious for favoring red (followers of Eilistree also dye their hair silver, which would be pretty hard to distinguish from white on that basis), I'd assume their vision does not render them color-blind.

So how about this... what does a colour blind dark elf see in the dark or does it matter at all? Since males carry the colour blindness gene, I just figured I'd ask a "what if"...

I don't think it matters, if he's viewing from the infrared spectrum anyway.

Or perhaps he may only see a bunch of diffrent shades of grey?

from my understanding they see through ultraviolet. but the makers of dnd got tired of spliting infra-vision and ultra-vision so to make things easyer for game mechanics they created darkvision.
if they saw through infrared.. they would be able to see colors for heat, and likely see through cloths... which could get weird...
