Lal looked at the bulls. Now why couldn't she just walk up to one say 'follow me' and lead them to dense patch of bushes. She grunted. She was dominant cow wasn't she? and she was Black... that was always a thing for some bulls... why didn't spring just bring them in?
She frowned and shook her heavy head. one more year calfless year. She sighed. If she was honest with herself She knew she probably wasn't ready for a calf. She needed a mate first and thus...a calf was the least of her worries. She turned and walked out to the river. SHe waded in knee dee and sighed. Al her worries could be washed away by this river.

Why were all the buffalo always obsessed with spring? Yay. More annoying calfs. That's all it was to Oni. He would have been happy if spring never came around and that's probably why the snow season was his favorite. The calfs were usually mature by then and there were no new ones being born. Less noise and less bother.
It was unfortunate for Oni that his normal spot of interest was taken. By way? CALFS. Go figure. There was nothing he could do but travel to the other end of the prides' land to see if his other spot was occupied. This meant walking along the whole stream. His heavy hoof steps left deep imprints in the mud. That mud also got stuck in his gray hooves, making him stop every feel minutes to wash it out. Causing the inconvience of meeting Lal, the domiant, face to face.

Very unlike Lal she had her head down with no one watching her back. Somewhere in the back of her mind she was listening to that voice that said a lion could eat her and no one would notice. She heard the sloshing of hooves in water and looked up. maybe it was a ballsy cow trying to take over leadership... Maybe she should hand it over...
Nope it was a bull. She grunted a very un ladylike snort at said bull and went back to drinking. She was already here he could go else where.

"Such an ugly sound for a Dom." Oni didn't care about the domiant cow. They never really did anything important in his eyes. Lal in paticular. Honestly, he hoped another cow would take over as Dom, just so that Lal would be put in her place. "Don't worry. There are better places than this and I do not plan to stay." He really couldn't stand her, only because of her Dom position that she did not care about.
It wasn't unlikely that Oni disliked someone, it was only unlikely that he would speak of it. He'd much rather be silent and left alone than talked to. The tan bull liked looking common, like everyone else, cause that meant no one paid him special notice. Black bulls were fawned over, gray were winked at, brown were noticed. But tan bulls, they were only ignored unless they made a point of being noticed. No cow wanted an average calf. And that was how he liked it.

Lal mentally laughed. Such an ignorant bull. She only huffed. "Thats a smooth tongue you have..bulls can be run out for insulting the doms" SHe raised her head. "Im in good speaking terms with the male bull..."
She turned and got onto the bank. "Now you said you were moving along?" She glanced at him with a challenge in her eyes... "If you find an interesting bull send him my way." She nodded. Watching him out of the corner of her eye

What a riot. This cow actually thought she was offending me. "And Doms change all the time. And there are other herds." He cared so little about the conversation that he din't even look at her. Oni could be a rouge bull. Maybe it would suit him better. He was only in this herd because of his birth, not choose.
"Talk to a bull yourself. Messangers are petty." He finally managed to get the last of the mud from his hoff and he quickly turned to move on. "A dom should be able to get a bull herself. Not with help."
