Eli sighed softly as he entered the abandoned warehouse, Kell padding along right behind him. Al Larsen one of his regularly customers had just bought the building and the lot it was on. He planned to tear it down and rebuild but first he wanted Eli to check it out. The man swore he'd seen something big skulking in the shadows the day before and he didn't want to send a wrecking crew in till he knew if they'd be disturbing something.
" Probably was a little feral cat raising kittens or something and he saw her shadow" the man grumbled. Eli highly doubted a big predator could survive unnoticed in the city , still for a long time customer he'd take a day off and check it out. If nothing else it'd be a break from the heat and endless flatness of the wastelands.

Sage walked down the street, her eyes darting around to make sure that no one would follow her. Everything was empty. A grin pulled at the edges of her lips as she began to move towards the huge warehouse that stood nearby. From the rotting wood and general air of it, it wasn't hard to tell that it hadn't been use for a long time. Her shoes made almost no noise against the floor, which was good, because she didn't really want to get caught sneaking into places.
As she reached the warehouse, anticipation built up within her. She could almost picture the creaking of wood as she tip-toed over it, the cobwebs scattered in the corners and the thick layer of dust that would cover everything. To some, that would sound horrifying, but to her-It was the start of an adventure (and possibly a book). She quickly darted around the door and stood inside, breathing in the musky air for a second.

Man and dog were picking there way through broken down machinery, boxes and random junk that had been left behind when the warehouse closed down when Kell sniffed, paused and turned back in the direction they had come.
Eli froze, rats maybe, Kell had a fondness for finding rants when they were in the city, but they weren't here for rats just mysterious shadows of whatever it was Al saw. Still the man waited for a moment to see if he could hear whatever it was kell smelled, a hand on the dogs collar to keep him from pursuing it.

Sage's eyes glittered as she took it all in. What appeared to be plain and dull was suddenly wondrous in her view. Each piece of dust was unique, each crate held mysteries yet to be discovered! Completely unaware that anyone else would be there, she stepped forwards eagerly, running her hand over the grimy wall as she did so.
There was a sudden crack under her heel as she stepped on something, a twig most likely. Jumping slightly at the noise, she shook her head at herself for being so silly. It was herself. Of course no one else was here. Why would they be? Her mind ran through millions of plots that she could use in her writing. An expedition gone wrong, some weird and miraculous creature hidden away for centuries in such an odd place. This place was... plain brilliant.

Both man and dog heard the cracking of whatever the intruder had stepped upon and with a low loud bark Kell warned it they were here. The dog smelt human , at least coming from that direction.
" Who's there?' Eli called out, well aware that if Kell had scented prey at this point the dog would have attempted to chase it and pin it to a wall. As the redhead spoke he too turned to head back toward's the warehouse's entrance and hoped the trespasser was unarmed, this was not a place he wanted to have a shootout.

Sage's head shot up as she heard a dog bark from somewhere ahead of her, followed by a human voice. She gulped, wondering what to do. What if they have a gun and want to shoot me? Maybe they'll be nice and invite me for a cup of tea? Who knows? Pausing for a second, confusion whirled in her eyes.
Suddenly, she made her choice. She'd lay low for now and observe. If they seemed to be decent, then she'd make herself known. Slipping down one of the dark passageways forged by the crates, she silently hid, heart pounding with excitement. An adventure! This is what she'd wanted, wasn't it?

Eli tapped Kell on the head and pointed into the other room, signaling for the dog to hunt. He'd given the trespasser fair warning and while part of him felt uncomfortable sending his best friend at an unknown target he knew it was the safety way, Kell dodged better than he did if there was trouble.
Kell padded back into the other room his dark fur helping him melt into the dimly lit surroundings. It was easy enough to find the invader scent and as was his nature he gave began to bay as he picked up his back and started to track it. The sound of his howl echoing in the rather resonant building.

Sage sighed lightly as she heard a bog bay. Great. Her adventure was ruined. She had to do something. Focus. How to get a dog away from you. Either bribe it... or confuse the scent. Her eyes warily traced her surroundings, looking for something that she could use to mask her smell. Nothing. Nada. Zilch.
Biting her lip, she dug her hands into her pockets and began to rummage around. A small notebook; a black pen; some buttons. Finally, her fingers brushed over the object she was looking for. It was a small biscuit. It might not be worth anything, but it was worth a shot. She gently held it around the corner, placing it in full view of the hound.

Unfortunately for the girl Kell was tracking her and not the biscuit and well he was normally happy to take treats from people scent hound was currently in working mode and was not allowed. Instead he simply followed the smell of her and her arms around to corner to find her. The dark furred dog have a short sharp bark this time to let Eli know he'd found his prey. Though he wasn't growling or aggressive Kell did look poised to lunge if needed or ordered.

Sage groaned. The dog didn't want to take the bait, it seemed. Although it wasn't growing, it did look ready to jump on her. Slowly, she crouched down onto the floor and tried not to meet the dog's eyes. Now would be a bad time to make the dog think she was dominant over him.
"Good boy." She whispered, "Won't you quieten down? I only wanted to have a look around, nothing else." She dropped the biscuit onto the floor, it wasn't as though she really needed it. With a sigh, she rose to her feet. Somehow she doubted her adventure would continue. Looking around, she scanned the place for the owner of the hound.

Having followed slowly after Kell, Eli quickly found the young woman and his dog. He tapped Kell on the shoulder to signal for him to clam while the man looked curiously at Sage. " Who are you and what are you doing here, this is private property?"

Sage looked up, a half guilty, half annoyed look on her face. "I wasn't doing anything wrong." She protested, "The place is abandoned, I only wanted to look around." Her back straightened as she looked him in the eye, "Do you have any idea how much potential this place has for a book? You could make an entire novel focusing around here, there's so much that could happen!" Her eyes blazed with excitement, and she'd already half forgotten the person who stood in front of her.
Her mind was off in daydreams, a far away look creeping over her face. After a few moments, she snapped out of it. "And seeing as you asked, my name is Sage. Sage East." Her eyes cast a last longing look around the warehouse, but she knew her exploration was over. "And you are...?"

"I'm Eli Galvao, friend of the building's owner and just so you know, just becuase a place isn't currently in use does not mean you have the right to traipse through it, land and buildings always belong to someone." The tone of the man's voice was firm brooking no argument. Regardless of Sage's innocent intentions she was still trespassing and it simply wasn't allowed, especially on the off chance there was something more dangerous than common feral cat lurking here.
No longer needed to keep the woman from bolting or running away Kell took the opportunity to scarf down the dropped biscuit.

Sage scrutinized him for a second, "Every land belongs to someone? Well, by that reasoning every blade of grass upon a land belongs to someone, and so every ray of sunlight they take in is owned by someone. Or with every breath of air you take, that breath is yours and no one else can breathe it." She titled her head to once side innocently, blonde hair cascading around her shoulders. "Now, that doesn't seem very fair, does it?"
Her eyes flickered down to the dog, who had decided to go and eat the biscuit anyway. What a sly and fascinating creature he appeared to be. Yet, he was so loyal and focused as well. Truly fascinating, the dog was almost like a human in his personality.
